Global warming neophyte hit with cold water, salt water that is

"It has been a bad tornado season – 858 so far, compared to 600 in 2007 and 510 in 2006. And Big Media, in reporting the tragic stories of death and destruction, have widely suggested that this is yet another consequence of global warming. NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams did it yesterday when he said the following: “[I] talked to three people, casual conversations today, all of them smart, saying, ‘I don’t know, we must be doing something to our Earth.’ So, once and for all, what’s going on here?”

His question was posed to Bill Karins, the NBC meteorologist, but the answer wasn’t the one Williams was fishing for. Karins responded, “Well, there are some correlations that can be made – global warming not quite one of them. La Nina [is] more likely.” And what is La Nina? According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), La Nina is “unusually cold ocean temperatures” in the Equatorial Pacific – not warm ocean temperatures! Whoops."
