MCRW Takes the Gold

Members of the Madison County Republican Women (MCRW) attended the Annual State Convention of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women (VFRW) April 17 - 19, 2008 at the Marriott Hotel in Newport News.

Delegates attending the Convention included MCRW President Sue Riley, 1st Vice President Anne Farmer, and Corresponding Secretary Erline Arthur.

MCRW received the 2007 President’s Guidelines Gold Achievement Award with a Blue Ribbon. The award was given to the club by VFRW President Paula Willoughby and VFRW Guidelines Chairman Martha Hendley in recognition of the member's outstanding performance in meeting state guidelines in 2007. This is the second year MCRW has received the Gold Award.

Clubs have a 20-item list that they must comply with in order to be considered for recognition. Club officers must attend district and state meetings; members must provide campaign support for local and state Republican nominees; and participate in or donate to a Community Service Project and the Mamie Eisenhower Library Program, to name just a few items.

The VFRW is a state chapter of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) that shares the responsibility of electing Republicans in the State of Virginia and strives to improve the daily lives of Virginians.

The NFRW, a volunteer grassroots organization with 100,000 members and 1,825 local clubs nationwide, strengthens the Republican Party by recruiting, training and electing candidates; advocating the Party's philosophy and initiatives; and, empowering women of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds in the political process.
