Quote of the Day

Republican Response

It’s no secret that Democrats control Capitol Hill, and they are working furiously to ram through as much of Barack Obama’s radical agenda as quickly as they can. This week, Congress is “debating” Obama’s massive $3.6 trillion budget, which the Congressional Budget Office estimates will add ten trillion dollars to the national debt. If the budget passes, Obama and the Democrats will take America down the path of European Big Government socialism.

What may not be obvious to many Americans is that Republicans are offering serious alternatives and fighting as hard as they can. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), the ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee, outlined the Republican response to Obama’s budget in today’s Wall Street Journal.

I won’t go into all the number-crunching details here, but the Republican plan is far more fiscally responsible than Obama’s trillions of new debt and deficits and trillions of higher taxes and more spending. If you would like to read more details of the plan, click here. But let me leave you with this closing thought from Rep. Ryan’s op-ed:
“America is not the greatest nation on earth by chance. We earned this greatness by rewarding individual achievement, by advancing and protecting natural rights, and by embracing freedom. We [Republicans] intend to continue this uniquely American tradition.
