Quote of the Day

Life And The Left

"As the Left begins its push for socialized healthcare, many are making the claim that healthcare is a fundamental right that should be provided at taxpayer expense. The president has described it as a “moral imperative.” That’s a point reasonable people can disagree on. But if so many on the Left think there is a “moral” right to protect the quality of life (our health), what about the right to life itself, which our Founding Fathers described as “unalienable” in the Declaration of Independence?

I’m pleased to report that nearly 20 House Democrats have challenged Speaker Nancy Pelosi to reject any healthcare scheme that covers abortion as a taxpayer-funded “right.” While I do not believe that socialism is the solution to our healthcare concerns, I applaud members of Congress willing to take a stand for the right to life. Any program that seeks to improve the health of each life must, first and foremost, do no harm to that life.

For those with a greater interest in the healthcare debate, I encourage you watch this brief YouTube video from Foster Friess, a successful businessman, patriot and champion of the conservative cause."

Obama Thugs Deceive Congress

Every agency in this administration appears to have been corrupted by the Obama Thug influence. The EPA is leading the way by keeping critical information from Congress. A Congressional hearing is called for. CNSNews.com has the story.

(CNSNews.com) - The EPA did not publicly release a March report that raised questions about the validity of the agency's conclusions that carbon emissions were a cause of global warming and a danger to human health--primary assumptions behind the cap and trade bill that passed the House on Friday. Critics--including eight congressmen--say the document was suppressed in spite of an Obama administration pledge to bring greater transparency to government.

Another fine mess that Obama is trying to get American into

From the Republican National Committee's new weekly email...

This chart provided by Rep. John Boehner gives a clear vision of the bureaucratic mess that so-called cap and trade legislation will create.

Most VA Democrats Back Energy Tax Bill: Where’s Deeds?

- Kaine, 5 Democrats in Congress Support Enviro Job-Killing Boondoggle; Deeds Hiding –

- MeadWestvaco Among Businesses to be Devastated, Located in Deeds’ Senate District -

RICHMOND Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins today repeated his call for Creigh Deeds to reveal his position on the massive energy tax boondoggle known as “Cap-and-Trade” following its approval in the U.S. House of Representatives Friday evening. Governor Tim Kaine released a glowing statement in his role as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee after five Virginia Democratic members of the House voted in favor of the bill. All five Virginia Republican members voted correctly, opposing the job-killing bill.

“Creigh Deeds is running as the heir-apparent to Tim Kaine,” Mullins said. “The governor has now publicly praised the scheme and five elected representatives of his party voted in favor of it. Deeds has to say where he stands. This is a legitimate question for a guy who wants to follow in Kaine’s footsteps.”

The bill, deceptively titled the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES Act, H.R. 2454) proposes a "Cap and Trade" scheme in which entities that exceed a government-imposed emission limit would be forced to buy "credits" from entities which emit amounts under the limits. Most analysts and employers have concluded that the idea would increase costs to consumers and severely limit the ability of private companies to create jobs.

Last week, Mark George, Vice President of the MeadWestvaco plant in Covington, wrote a commentary piece in the Richmond Times-Dispatch expressing grave concern over the environmental monstrosity. “‘If the ACES Act passes Congress, MeadWestvaco's Covington mill operations, which provide 1,500 jobs in the Alleghany Highlands, will definitely be one of the losers. The economic future for our area will be severely impacted,’” George wrote (Kill the Climate Bill: Legislation Ignores Critical Factors...," Richmond Times-Dispatch, June 25, 2009).

“You’d think that Creigh Deeds would want to reassure his constituents, since I’m sure he knows that MeadWestvaco is a major employer right there in his own Senate District,” RPV Chairman Mullins said. “There are 1,500 families that are now concerned about their economic future thanks to this crazy legislation. But their State Senator is too afraid to take a stand.”

The bill passed the House late Friday by a vote of 219-to-212 (Roll Call Vote 477). Five Virginia Democrats voted in favor of the legislation: Rep. Bobby Scott (3rd), Rep. Tom Perriello (5th), Rep. Jim Moran (8th), Rep. Rick Boucher (9th) and Rep. Gerry Connolly (11th). Governor Kaine immediately released a statement praising the passage under the flag of the Democratic National Committee.

“I want to congratulate President Obama for his outstanding leadership and Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Hoyer, Chairman Waxman and Congressman Markey for their role in taking this historic step,” Kaine said.

“It’s pretty obvious that Governor Kaine is following the direct orders of his patron in the White House, while the other Virginia Democrats are heeding the directives of their national party leaders,” Chairman Mullins said. “What’s the view from where Creigh Deeds sits? Will he toe the DNC line or will he stand up for workers in his own district?”

A study by the Tax Foundation showed that the Cap and Trade system would place an annual burden of $144.8 billion on American household, or more than $1,200 on the average family. (Andrew Chamberlain, "Who Pays for Climate Policy? New Estimates of the Household Burden and Economic Impact Of A U.S. Cap-And-Trade System," Tax Foundation Working Paper #6, March 3, 2009)

It would reduce the American Gross Domestic Product by $350 billion and kill 2.5 million jobs, even accounting for any new "green" jobs, found a study by the National Black Chamber of Commerce (NBCC Press Release, June 24, 1009)

Roy Innis, Chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality, one of the nation’s older civil rights organizations, appealed to Congress to reject the idea because it would harm working class and poor families.

“In my 40-plus years as the Chairman of CORE, I have seen few federal bills that would do more harm to America’s working class and low-income citizens and families than the Waxman-Markey climate tax bill," Innis wrote to Members of Congress. “In fact, an underlying goal of this legislation is the morally repugnant concept that constricting sources of domestic energy and raising energy costs is a good thing because it will force conservation by consumers. That elitist view assumes that poor, working class families have the ability to bear that 'social cost.’”

Republican opposition to the bill was led by Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner (Ohio), who argued that the bill would radically affect the economy, job creation and the individual freedoms of American citizens.

“Speaker Pelosi’s national energy tax is a bureaucratic nightmare that will cost families more than ever for electricity, gasoline, food, and other products, and cost millions of American workers their jobs,” Boehner said. “This is a tax on anyone who drives a car, buys an American-made product, or flips on a light switch. It will drive up energy costs, send millions of jobs overseas to countries like China and India, and place an especially heavy burden on rural America.”

“Virginians know that Bob McDonnell is standing firmly against this economic disaster of a plan,” said Chairman Mullins. “They ought to know where Deeds stands.”

Democrats Seek Huge Tax Increase

"Cap and Tax" Bill Barely Passes House

The "Cap and Tax" bill designed to protect against greenhouse-gas emissions by imposing a cap on the amount of carbon that utilities and companies could produce passed the House by a vote of 219-212 late Friday. This bill will pass costs along to businesses and consumers and could lead to jobs going overseas.

"You're going to find signs on manufacturing doors, if this bill passes, that say, 'Moved, gone to China,'" said Sen. Charles Grassley (R., Iowa) on ABC's "This Week." (Wall Street Journal)

The bill is now in the Senate and will soon face votes from the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the Environment and Natural Resources Committee. But Obama and Harry Reid's Democrats want to rush a vote before the August recess in Congress.

It is clear this legislation will add costs to small businesses that will hurt their ability to hire more workers. It will also drain your pocketbook as utility bills will rise. Contact the senators in your state and also tell Senator Jeff Bingaman and Senator Barbara Boxer who chair the committees where the bill now resides that we will not stand for cap and tax.

The following are the “Crazy 8″ Republicans who committed political suicide yesterday by voting for the scam of a bill known as Cap & Trade. How a person can call himself/herself a Republican and cast such a nasty vote is beyond me, but apparently these 8 see nothing wrong with their action.

I think we should let them know that we’re not going to stand for it anymore."

Obama: Where's the Birth Certificate?

Has a poser hijacked our country's highest office? All he has to do to clear up the questions is bring his original long form birth certificate out for verification. His refusal to do so brings these legitimate questions making the rounds in an email:

Obama can resolve the matter by answering one simple question:

What passport did he use when he was shuttling between New York , Jakarta , and Karachi ?

So how did a young man who arrived in New York in early June 1981, without the price of a hotel room in his pocket, suddenly come up with the price of a round-the-world trip just a month later?

And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York , Jakarta, and Karachi , what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and Immigration?

*The American people not only deserve to have answers to these questions, they must have answers.

It makes the debate over Obama's citizenship a rather short and simple one.

Q: Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20?
A : Yes, by his own admission.

Q: What passport did he travel under?
A: There are only three possibilities.

1) He traveled with a U.S. Passport,
2) He traveled with a British passport, or
3) He traveled with an Indonesia passport.

Q: Is it possible that Obama traveled with a U.S. Passport in 1981?
A: No. It is not possible. Pakistan was on the U.S. State Department's "no travel" list in 1981.

Conclusion:

When Obama went to Pakistan in 1981 he was traveling either with a British passport or an Indonesian passport.

If he were traveling with a British passport that would provide proof that he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961, not in Hawaii as he claims. And if he were traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to prove that he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or American, prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967.

Whatever the truth of the matter, the American people need to know how he managed to become a "natural born" American citizen between 1981 and 2008.

"The Violent Oppression of Women in Islam"

David Horowitz, Editor of frontpagemag.com has a new video that everyone should watch.

"Over the past two weeks, we have watched Iranians in the streets of Teheran protesting against a stolen election and stolen lives. Brave young women have been in the forefront of these confrontations with the killer elites backing the mullahs'' theo-fascist regime.

These women have urged their male counterparts on in their demonstrations against a rigged vote and even more in behalf of liberty. They have rushed to rescue men being beaten to death by the Revolutionary Guard and basiji bullies.

Recognizing the key role they have played, the Ahmadinejad regime has subjected them to particularly sadistic punishment. You have probably seen the horrifying video of the murder of one of these young women, Neda Agha-Soltari. Her death in a gutter has become the summary moment of this uprising.

The women risking their lives in Tehran are crying out for democracy. But they are also driven by outrage against the repression that characterizes their daily lives and prospects in a world ruled by male "guardians".

What these courageous Iranian women are fighting against in their struggle for the personal liberty we take for granted is the subject of this video, "The Violent Oppression of Women in Islam". This is the reality that women in Iran and throughout the Middle East must deal with. Please watch it. Please send it to your friends. Please post it on your websites. Democrat Health Care Deception

10 Facts About House Democrats' Takeover Of Health Care

1. Democrats' Government Takeover Will Cost Middle-Class Families and Small Businesses Billions. Though House Democrats don't know (or won't say) how much their government takeover will cost, here's what we do know: the plan will make health care more expensive and hit the middle class particularly hard with higher taxes, rationed care, and new health care costs. As millions of families and small businesses are struggling to make ends meet while making responsible choices, this plan forces those that make responsible decisions to foot the bill for those who don't.

2. Democrats' Government Takeover Will Cost Tens of Millions Their Current Health Care Coverage. The House Democrats' plan could force more than 100 million Americans out of their current health care plan and onto the government rolls, according to a Lewin Group study published earlier this year. A Congressional Budget Office report on a similar plan authored by Senate Democrats that would force at least 23 million Americans off of their current plans. According to the Associated Press, even the White House admits that the President's promises about allowing the American people to keep their health care shouldn't be taken literally.

3. Democrats' Government Takeover Will Cost Millions of Americans Their Jobs. The House Democrats' plan would impose employer mandates and cost jobs by requiring some employers - especially some small businesses - to pay a new eight percent tax to Washington. The plan would also slap employers that are unable to offer coverage the government deems adequate with another new financial burden. These two new taxes will make it more difficult than ever for small business owners to reinvest in their businesses and create and retain good paying jobs. Using the economic model of the President's own economic advisors, an employer mandate would result in 4.7 million Americans losing their jobs.

4. Democrats' Government Takeover Will Put Bureaucrats in Charge of Key Medical Decisions. Instead of keeping patients and doctors in charge of key medical decisions, the House Democrats' plan will give Washington the power instead. And if you're outraged with what Washington's done with the bailouts, just wait until you see what Uncle Sam does with your health care.

5. Democrats' Government Takeover Will Cost Future Generations Money They Don't Have. The House Democrats' bill simply shifts the burden of debt from one generation to the next. Our nation can't sustain the Medicaid and Medicare programs now. At a time when families and small businesses already are being crushed under the weight of historic debt, a new government-run program will only further add to the bill passed along to our children and grandchildren.

6. Democrats' Government Takeover Will Cost Seniors Key Medicare Benefits and Options. In order to expand health care benefits to some seniors, House Democrats will slash coverage millions of other seniors depend on. These benefit cuts will ultimately eliminate choices for seniors.

7. Democrats' Government Takeover Will Place a New Mandate on Individuals. The House Democrats' plan mandates that every American buy health insurance or pay a hefty penalty to Washington equal to almost two percent of their income. This would force more Americans into government-run system that will make health care more expensive, ration care, and put bureaucrats in charge of medical decisions.

8. Democrats' Government Takeover Will Raise Taxes on Families, Small Businesses. Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) readily admitted that the Democrats' health care "reform" plan would be financed with tax hikes. The Associated Press reported that, "Democrats are considering everything from taxing soda, to raising income taxes on upper income people earning more than $200,000, to a federal sales tax." Exactly how many new taxes will there be to bankroll this government takeover? When do Democrats plan to reveal them?

9. Democrats' Government Takeover Is a Missed Opportunity To Reduce Health Care Costs. The House Democrats' plan does not include even a shred of medical liability reform, missing an opportunity to drive down health care costs by reducing costly, unnecessary defensive medicine practiced by doctors trying to protect themselves from trial lawyers.

10. Democrats' Government Takeover Harms Small Businesses, Costs Jobs. The House Democrats' plan uses the amount of an employer's annual payroll to define "small business," which is troubling news for millions of Americans who depend on these engines of economic growth. Based on the Democrats' definition of small businesses, only those with, on average, less than 10 employees will be spared from new taxes through employer mandates. This leaves a huge number of small businesses to deal with the onerous and expensive mandates of the House Democrats' government defined health benefit plan ("small businesses" are traditionally defined as employing less than 500 people). These small businesses employ 47.3 million employees and provide those employees $1.7 trillion in wages annually. The House Democrats' new employer mandate and taxes on these businesses will make it more difficult to retain these jobs and wages. Source: House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH)

More Info, Please

"Yesterday, we noted that the House of Representatives is preparing to vote on a massive 1,200 page “cap and trade” bill that would tax energy and stifle the economy. Today, the Wall Street Journal labeled the bill “likely one of the largest tax increases in history.” In an interview this week, investor Warren Buffett, who endorsed Obama for president, described “cap and trade” as a “huge tax …and a fairly regressive tax.”

Unbelievably, CBS News reports that House Democrats have hired speed readers in order to rush through this terrible legislation before the American people learn more about it. Their recklessness is unconscionable! But the reality is that less than 25% of likely voters understand what the term “cap and trade” means. As a result of numerous inquiries from folks eager to learn more, our staff has developed a very short list of resources and additional commentaries I hope you find helpful.

If you have more questions about climate change and the science behind it, click here. And, if you have not yet made your voice heard on the “cap and trade” bill the House is about to vote on, go here to send a message to Congress opposing Obama’s “great big,” “huge” and “regressive” energy tax.

Friends, let me be clear: Contrary to the claims of the Sierra Club and other leftwing outfits, conservatives do care about the environment. Nobody wants to see rivers burning or let their children be poisoned by drinking water. But there has to be a balance between killing the economy and caring for God’s creation. Conservatives get that. In fact, I encourage to you visit a new site designed specifically for Christians who want to engage in biblical stewardship of the environment. Vote Ken Cuccinelli - Attorney General of Virginia

Cuccinelli Statement on the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals declaring
Virginia's Partial Birth Infanticide Ban as Constitutional

FAIRFAX -- Senator Ken Cuccinelli released the following statement today on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit voting to uphold Virginia's Ban on Partial Birth Abortion on a 6-5 vote.

"Today's ruling marks a major victory in a hard fought, six-year battle to end Partial Birth Abortion in Virginia. I want to extend both my appreciation and congratulations to Attorney General Bill Mims, Former Attorney General Bob McDonnell and their teams for their hard work in making today's ruling a reality."

Senator Cuccinelli noted that Steve Shannon, Democrat Candidate for Attorney General, refused to take a position on this issue in last week's Virginia Bar Association Debate. During their debate, prior to the Courts ruling, Senator Cuccinelli declared that if Virginia lost the case he would appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. Senator Cuccinelli asked Delegate Shannon if Shannon would also appeal if Virginia lost and Shannon refused to answer.

Steve Shannon ducked the question - leaving yet another issue on the table at last Saturday's Debate that he refused to take a position on. Ken Cuccinelli however clearly stated that he would continue in the footsteps of our past four Attorneys General in defending Virginia's ban on Partial Birth Abortion.

Upon his arrival in the State Senate, State Senator Ken Cuccinelli was the deciding vote to override the veto of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. The ban passed both the House and Senate with bipartisan support.

Getting hit by ObamaCare

The National Center for Public Policy Research has some sobering news for ObamaCare advocates

African-Americans Favor Delay on Climate Change Legislation

38% Believe Resulting Job Losses Would Fall Heaviest on Blacks

56% Say Congress Fails to Adequately Take Into Account Their "Economic and Quality of Life" Concerns

Democrats risk alienating one of their most important constituencies by advancing the Waxman-Markey climate change bill this week or any time before an economic recovery is underway, according to the non-partisan National Center for Public Policy Research.

The National Center for Public Policy Research bases this conclusion on the results of a nationwide poll it commissioned of African-Americans. The poll, released today, suggests anxiety in the black community over Waxman-Markey-style regulations.

The survey of 800 African-Americans included 640 self-identified Democrats (80%) and 32 Republicans (4%).

Among the poll's key findings:

* 76% of African-Americans want Congress to make economic recovery its top priority, even if it delays action on climate change;
* 38% believe job losses resulting from climate change legislation would fall heaviest on the African-American community. Only 7% believe job losses would fall heaviest on Hispanics and only 2% believe they would fall heaviest on whites;
* 56% believe Washington policymakers have failed to adequately take into account the economic and quality of life concerns of the African-American community when formulating climate change policy;
* 52% of respondents aren't willing pay anything more for either gasoline or electricity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 73% are unwilling to pay more than 50 cents more for a gallon of gas and 76% are unwilling to pay more than $50 more per year for electricity to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions;
* African-Americans are virtually deadlocked on whether to proceed with plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions if doing so increases consumer prices and unemployment. 44% of those surveyed said emissions reductions should not proceed under these circumstances, while 45% said they should continue. Significantly, a strong majority (59% to 33%) of those surveyed in the West North Central Region (Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nebraska) and a plurality (43% to 42%) of those in the East Central Region (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin) opposed emissions reductions if they increase costs or unemployment.

"If concern about a Waxman-Markey-style climate change bill is running this high among group of predominantly Obama voters, it's bound to be much higher among the general population," said David A. Ridenour, vice president of The National Center for Public Policy Research, who directs the group's Center for Public Opinion Policy Center, which issued the poll.

"African-Americans are unwilling to pay even a cent more for gas and electricity to reduce greenhouse emissions. Many are concerned that the costs of the regulations will fall disproportionately on them. And an overwhelming majority of African-Americans prefer to put economic recovery before action on climate change. All this spells a bad climate for climate change legislation. If Speaker Pelosi ignores these signs of discontent within her party's base, she does so at her own peril."

"It's also significant that the poll shows that support for the kind of climate legislation backed by the Democratic leadership is very weak in the central states." Ridenour added, "As the overwhelming majority of the people we polled are self-identified Democrats and Obama voters, one would expect them to largely agree with the Democratic leadership on this high-profile issue, but they don't. This may in part be why Speaker Nancy Pelosi has run into strong resistance to the Waxman-Markey bill from Democratic Congressmen representing the central states."

The scientific, telephone survey of 800 African American adults was conducted by Wilson Research Strategies and has a margin of error of +/- 3.4%. The survey, with crosstabs, can be viewed at: http://www.nationalcenter.org/BlackOpinion.html.

Why Does Obama Oppose Democracy in Iran?

National Federation of Republican Women Affirms Congressional Action Supporting Democracy in Iran

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana and Senator John McCain of Arizona succeeded Friday in shepherding through resolutions supporting the Iranian citizens' quest for democracy in their country. In the House of Representatives, the vote was 405-1, and the Senate adopted two separate resolutions by voice vote.

The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) agrees with Congress that America supports the Iranian people who are being brutally attacked for protesting the unfair elections that occurred recently. Violence has erupted in the streets of Tehran, as the hardline Iranian government has threatened bloodshed if the people continue to protest.

“It is imperative that the people of Iran know that Americans support their right to a democratically-elected government,” NFRW President Shirley Sadler said. “President Obama's statements regarding the election and the subsequent violence committed by the Iranian government against its people have been glaringly weak, and we applaud the efforts of Congress that show the United States supports these people in their efforts.”

Republican leaders in Congress spoke out yesterday about this issue. “The President of the United States is supposed to lead the free world, not follow it,” said Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Senator John McCain (R-AZ) compared Obama's statements to the leaders of France, Great Britain and Germany. “I think we ought to have America lead. When you look at the statements by President Sarkozy, Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Brown have been much stronger. We should lead. And I also think he should point out that this is not just an Iranian issue. This is an American issue—what we're all about,” McCain said on Sunday's “Face the Nation.”

Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation and in several U.S. territories, making it one of the largest women's political organizations in the country. The grassroots organization recruits and elects Republican candidates, advocates the Party's philosophy and initiatives, and empowers women in the political process.

ABC: Shilling for Obamacare

A new email is urging a protest of ABC, the All-Obama Channel.
Fellow Patriots,

This message is likely the most important message you will receive today. Please take a moment to read it, act on it and please send it to your entire email address book, your Facebook friends, and anyone else you can think of who is a friend of liberty. Also call your local (or even national) conservative talk show host to get the word out as far and wide and fast as possible.

On Wednesday June 24th 2009 ABC will be airing an “informercial” for Obama to sell us his Nationalized Health Care Plan. They have billed this as a “Conversation on Healthcare” and yet they are not allowing the other side of the “conversation” to be heard. Just like the Russian Government run news organization TASS, ABC is becoming a state run news organization for our new socialist government and they are not allowing any alternate points of view to be aired in juxtaposition to their broadcast.

There are two problems with this “infomercial.” The first problem I have already mentioned, where our first Amendment rights are being encroached upon by the creation of a quasi-state-run media (it wouldn’t surprise me if Obama is on the verge of appointing a media Czar in the near future). The second, and more immediate concern is the shameless promotion of a National Health Care Program in an infomercial format without any objective reporting on the issue, or the ability to show any kind of alternate program or point of view. Once again, the government is setting things up to try to ram things down our throat that We The People do not want and cannot afford for us or for our children. We MUST stand up and be heard!

We cannot stand idly by and see our media hijacked and become a state-run media outlet orchestrated by Obama’s administration, nor can we simply let this National Health Care Initiative be foisted upon us without putting up any resistance. It’s time for us to act. The last time we mobilized, the media tried to ignore and marginalize us. We will not be ignored! We invite every able bodied freedom loving American to rally outside of their local ABC affiliate TV station with signs, airhorns, and other noisemaking devices so that we get their attention this time. The slogan “Silent Majority No More” can no longer remain just a slogan, it’s time to show that we are NOT silent anymore. Make it sound like midnight on New Years Eve in front of every ABC affiliate TV station across the country. Make them send their reporters out to cover it live. Continue the rally through their news hour so our fellow Americans can realize how many of us share the same view. We know that this keeps you up a little later than usual however, a little sleep lost now is better than liberties lost later. Unusual times call for unusual measures. Deeds Needs to Tell the Truth

Just how far is Deeds willing to throw Virginians under the bus?

Mullins Calls on Deeds to Answer on Cap and Trade

- RPV Chairman Asks Democrat to Come Clean on “Job Killer” -

RICHMOND Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins today called upon Democratic candidate for governor Creigh Deeds to publicly state his position on the proposed “Cap and Trade” legislation currently before Congress. Cap and Trade is a scheme in which entities that pollute in amounts exceeding a government-imposed limit would be forced to buy “credits” from entities which pollute under the limits. Many analysts have concluded that the idea would increase costs to consumers and severely limit the ability of private companies to create jobs.

Chairman Mullins’ statement is as follows:

“In this time of economic crisis, every policy that can influence job growth has increased importance. Cap and Trade is certainly near the top of the list. This idea is a lethal job killer – based on liberal orthodoxy and not science. The estimated costs to a middle income family are well over $1,000 annually, but range up to over $2,100 a year for other families. Additionally, the burden on private enterprise would be substantial, limiting the ability of businesses to create jobs and spur economic growth.

“Bob McDonnell has rightly stood firm in his opposition to this terrible idea, but sadly, his opponent Creigh Deeds remains silent. It is time for Creigh Deeds to state his position on this important issue, if he is willing to step out from under Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.”

Mullins Sends FOIA Request for Kaine’s Travel Docs

- RPV Appeals for Information, Releases Video Questioning Governor’s Whereabouts -

RICHMOND Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins today issued a Freedom of Information Act request to the office of Governor Tim Kaine, seeking documents related to the governor’s travel schedule and expenses tied to his role as chairman of the Democratic National Committee. As Mullins was announcing his appeal, Kaine was in Kansas City, Missouri headlining a fundraising luncheon for Organizing for America, a political group established by Barack Obama.

“At a time when Virginia is facing an economic crisis it hasn’t seen in decades, our governor seems to be spending a lot of his time in other parts of the country,” Mullins said. “Worse yet, he and his staff have steadfastly refused requests from the media for information about his travel schedule. We think Virginians deserve to know where their governor is, particularly when so many of them are wondering how to put food on the table and take care of their families.”

Mullins’ FOIA request seeks information pertaining to the daily schedule of the governor dating back to January 2009, when he became chairman of the DNC. It further requests records pertaining to expenses related to the use of the State Police Executive Protection Unit assigned to guard the governor’s safety.

Mullins was joined by Del. Chris Saxman (20th District) in a media conference call to unveil a brief video that highlights the Virginia economy and Kaine’s stealthy travel habits. The video can be found by following this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg1kqenUyyI.

The Kansas City Star posted a blurb on its website June 16th noting Kaine’s trip to that city, initially referring to him as the “former” Governor of Virginia before a hasty correction was made. Had the Star not made mention of the trip, Virginians would have been unaware that their elected governor had left the state for a political function. Additionally, the Washington Post found out that Kaine was in Chicago last week only because their bureau reporter happened to spot him while he was in town speaking to a DNC group.

“To me, this is an issue of transparency,” said Del. Saxman. “Where is the governor at any given moment? How did he get there? Did he fly on a commercial airline, or use someone’s private jet? If so, who paid for the plane? Who covered his hotel expenses? These are legitimate questions that we believe should be answered.”

“When he was in Miami, Tim Kaine made a joke about walking around the pool at the Fontainebleau Hotel with his shirt off,” Mullins said. “Their basic room costs over $300 a night, with the best ones going for over $800 a night. Who’s paying for that?”

Under Virginia’s FOIA law, the governor’s office has five working days to respond or can obtain an additional seven days if extra time is needed to compile the requested information. The office can comply completely with the request, issue a partial collection of documents while explaining what legal exemptions allow them to omit others, or deny the request completely while explaining which legal exemptions allow them to refuse the request.

“Tim Kaine told the Associated Press that he would only be doing this DNC job on weekends, in the evenings or on personal time,” Mullins said. “Well, today is a Friday and most people consider this a working day, yet he is in Kansas City raising money. Last week, it was Chicago on a work day. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for Virginians to receive an accounting of where the governor is spending his time, and on whose nickel.”

Quote of the Day

"Barbara Boxer is at it again.

During a Senate hearing this week, Boxer lashed out at United States Army General Michael Walsh for not addressing her properly.

What did General Walsh say, you ask?

No, General Walsh didn't call her Barbara.

The offensive moniker?...

"Ma'am"

Click here to watch the video of Senator Boxer berate this career military officer for doing what he was trained to do - call men "sir" and women "ma'am" out of courtesy and respect.

General Walsh has a long and distinguished career in the U.S. Army. He's worked his way up through the ranks, having served at home and abroad - including a tour in Iraq - to his current command of a division of the Army Corps of Engineers.

He deserves better from a United States Senator. Ironically, General Walsh is even from California - making him a constituent of Senator Boxer's.

All of our military men and women deserve more dignity than to be on the receiving end of condescension and disrespect, especially at the hands of our elected officials.

This poor behavior by Senator Boxer should not come as a surprise. After all, she voted against the senate resolution, drafted by Senator Cornyn, that condemned the 2007 MoveOn.org ad questioning the patriotism of General David Petraeus."

Bigger Government = Less Liberty

Project 21 warns that precious liberties are in danger.

Black Conservatives Warn of Threat to Continued Freedom on "Juneteenth" Civil Rights Holiday

Expanding Government Poses a Danger to Individual Rights, Liberties Celebrated on Emancipation Holiday

On the occasion of "Juneteenth," the oldest and most recognized annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States, members of the Project 21 black leadership network suggest the civil rights-themed holiday be used to celebrate freedoms that have been won and as a warning of how easily freedom can be threatened by an overbearing government.

Project 21 members have called attention to the Juneteenth since 1999, urging black Americans to use Juneteenth to embrace their inherent talents and strengthen their ties with family and community.

Now, when the Obama Administration and Congress are increasing government intervention into the lives of all Americans, Project 21 members suggest that people reflect upon how this expansion of power can reduce the threaten individual freedom.

"The liberties we enjoy today came at a tremendous cost and after a lot of suffering," said Project 21 fellow Deneen Borelli. "Today historically marks the day of the opening of the door to opportunity for blacks to seek 'life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.' We should take advantage of this liberty to strive to improve our lives and build upon the sacrifices of those who fought for freedom."

"It's important to remember that Juneteenth is rooted in our achieving our freedom. It is the growth of an activist government intent on regulating most - if not all - aspects of our lives that is now threatening that freedom," said Project 21 member Bishop Council Nedd II. "There's a lot at risk should politics be allowed to take precedence over the protection of individual rights. Environmental regulations, for instance, already substantially affect private property rights and the ability for many to conduct legitimate business. Just think of what might happen to our independence if we are forced to rely on a partisan government for health care, to determine if we can buy a car or how we can worship without offending perceived sensibilities? This is something we need to consider as we mark Juneteenth this year."

Project 21 member Ak'bar Shabazz added: "As our nation advances rapidly away from embracing personal responsibility towards government protection and oversight, we should keep in mind that these freed slaves wanted only the opportunity to be free and control their own destinies. Their attitudes towards freedom contrasts greatly from today, as many people look for more government control over their lives."

Juneteenth commemorates the anniversary of the June 19, 1865 arrival of Union soldiers in Galveston, Texas. The soldiers carried the news that the Civil War was over and that President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation had abolished slavery two-and-a-half years earlier.

The annual commemoration became known as Juneteenth and quickly became a stabilizing as well as motivating presence in the lives of black Americans in Texas, who faced many uncertainties associated with newly-acquired freedom. The observance quickly spread from Texas to be recognized across the United States.

Juneteenth is celebrated in many ways, but education and self-improvement have been consistent themes at commemorative community gatherings and picnics in recent years. In 1980, Juneteenth was made an official holiday in Texas. According to the National Juneteenth Holiday Campaign, 25 states currently recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday.

Project 21, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization supported by the National Center for Public Policy Research, has been a leading voice of the African-American community since 1992. Obama: Destroying the Best Health Care System in the World

Just take a deep breath and admit what you know to be true. The current occupant in the White House is a Communist. Alain's Newsletter discusses the American industry which is currently slated for destruction by the liberty loathing Hussein.

This week, Fox News commentator Glenn Beck played a series of video clips showing Obamunists admitting that their health care reform goal is the destruction of private health insurance in America! An audio clip of President Obama also shows him admitting that he’s an advocate of “single payer” health insurance. This is socialized medicine!

Congressman Perriello Sells Out Virginia

Tom Perriello, said to be Princess Pelosi's pampered pet, shows he can bring home the bacon, or American-hating, blood-thirsty terrorists, as the case may be.

Perriello Casts Deciding Vote to Bring Gitmo Detainees to U.S. Soil - Freshman Sides with Pelosi, Risks Bringing Terrorists to Virginia

RICHMOND – Freshman Congressman Tom Perriello (D-5th District) today cast the deciding vote on a crucial measure, paving the way for the closure of the detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (House Roll Call 360 and 361), thus risking the relocation of dangerous terrorists to United States soil.
“This is a vote of outrageous irresponsibility,” said Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins. “Tom Perriello clearly felt he had to cave under the pressure of the White House and Nancy Pelosi. His actions have opened up the possibility that we will have terrorists moving into a prison in Virginia.”
Rep. Jerry Lewis offered an amendment to prohibit the funding of President Obama’s executive order to close the facility, but it failed by a vote of 212-216. After a subsequent vote, the count was 212-213. Perriello voted with Speaker Nancy Pelosi to allow the funding, thereby clearing a path for detainees to be moved to U.S. territory.

Vote can be found here: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll361.xml

“I think the people in Perriello’s district will be shocked to learn that he put his fear of party leadership ahead of the best interests of the people of Virginia,” Mullins said. “This was a test of Tom Perriello’s concern about public safety, and he flunked it.”

Quote of the Day

"As of last week, four terrorists changed their addresses from Guantanamo Bay and became the newest residents of the affluent resort island of Bermuda, and it was your tax dollars that sent them there to live. In fact, it is your tax dollars that are providing these four former Guantanamo Bay detainees with an income, housing, food, and education.

The four terrorists were released last Thursday and are now free to live in Bermuda without a trial. These dangerous men were members of the Uighur ethnic group and were captured on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border after completing training at the al-Qaeda affiliated East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) camp in Tora Bora. They are the same men that Canada and Germany refused to take because of the national security risk they posed.

We at Military Families United are outraged by the Uighurs’ release and the cost associated with freeing terrorists on the taxpayer’s dime and against the demands of Congress. On Monday, we demanded that President Obama disclose how much transferring the Uighurs cost the American taxpayer. Receiving no response to our call, today we filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to force the release of the financial documents associated with Thursday’s transfer and the expenditures, financial commitments and payment schedules for these terrorists. The FOIA request can be read here."

Obamacare: A License to Steal

Obama and Democrats Prepared To Fleece the Country on Healthcare

Plan Costs Over $1 Trillion and Will Force 23 Million Out of Their Current Plans
Once Again, Obama and Ted Kennedy's public option healthcare plan brings the federal government into your doctor's office.
Even the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office reports:
  • The Democratic plan will cost taxpayers at least $1 trillion;
  • The legislation will leave at least 36 million Americans uninsured; and
  • The proposal will force at least 23 million Americans to give up the health coverage they currently enjoy.
And Democrat Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND) admits the White House does not have enough votes to pass their big government plan. Although Obama has promised to work with Republicans on this issue, that remains to be seen.
