Kudos to Ken Cuccinelli

Senator Cuccinelli Receives Senior Citizens' Award

Cuccinelli called "fighter for the elderly."
Fairfax, VA - Today, Senator Ken Cuccinelli announced his grateful acceptance of the 60 Plus Association's "Honorary Guardian of Seniors' Rights Award."

The Guardian Award is presented to Democrats and Republicans in Congress based on their "senior friendly" voting records. The Honorary Award is given to those running for state and federal office and is based on their views on seniors' issues.

Jim Martin, President of 60 Plus, at an awards ceremony in Fairfax, called Senator Cuccinelli a "fighter for the elderly." He also thanked Senator Cuccinelli for "working hard in Richmond for the rights of seniors. What segment of society is impacted the most by higher taxes? Seniors living on fixed incomes, trying to make ends meet, know they can depend on Senator Cuccinelli for his steadfast opposition to higher taxes. Ken Cuccinelli has proven his loyalty to seniors while in the Senate. I am pleased to present this award to him. He is a tax cutter, protecting the pocket books of senior citizens. 60 Plus calls on nearly 5.5 million seniors for support nationally, with over 129,000 in Virginia, so I believe I can speak on behalf of seniors when I say that they can count on Ken Cuccinelli. Clearly, seniors will have no finer friend as Attorney General than Ken Cuccinelli."

"I am truly honored by this award," Senator Cuccinelli said. "While serving in the Virginia State Senate, I have done my best to be a responsible steward of the people's money." He continued, "I have consistently worked to keep taxes low, and to protect the economic health of our Commonwealth. I know that raising taxes especially hurts those people, including seniors, who are retired and live on a fixed income."

The 60 Plus Association is a 17-year-old nonpartisan organization working for death tax repeal, saving Social Security, affordable prescription drugs, lowering energy costs and other issues featuring a less government, less taxes approach. 60 Plus calls on support from nearly 5.5 million citizen activists. 60 Plus publishes a magazine, SENIOR VOICE, and a Scorecard, bestowing awards on lawmakers of both parties who vote "pro-senior."

Previous recipients of 60 Plus Association awards in the Old Dominion include former U.S. Senator John Warner (R-VA), former Rep Tom Davis (R-VA), as well as current Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Frank Wolf (R-VA). Others include U.S. Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-GA).
