Quote of the Day

"In the House today, HB 1042, patroned by Delegate Kathy Byron (R-22, Lynchburg), which would require a woman seeking an abortion to be offered an opportunity to see an ultrasound of her baby, was reported from the House Courts of Justice Civil Sub-committee to the full committee with only a few predictably liberal dissenting votes. Delegate Byron calmly refuted claims by Planned Parenthood and NARAL and Delegate Jennifer McClellan (D-71, Richmond). Interestingly, Planned Parenthood and NARAL claimed ultrasounds would cost several hundred dollars, much more than the $400 they claimed abortions cost. In fact, ultrasounds can cost as little as $30 and are free at many pregnancy resource centers."
