Quote of the Day

"Barack Obama was swept into office riding a wave of euphoria about “hope and change.” Obama’s administration would be the most transparent ever. Obama would transcend partisanship. Obama would change Washington – and fundamentally transform America. But like so many of Obama’s promises, we’re learning yet again that Obama’s rhetoric rarely matches his record.

Obama’s “Mr. Clean” mystique has been sullied in recent weeks by allegations from Pennsylvania Democrat Joe Sestak that the White House tried to bribe him to stay out of the primary against Sen. Arlen Specter. Now another Democrat has come forward – with proof – that he too was offered an administration job in order to grease the skids for a weak incumbent senator.

Yesterday, former Colorado Speaker Andrew Romanoff stated publicly that he spoke with Deputy White House Chief of Staff Jim Messina about possible administration jobs “that might be available to me were I not pursuing the Senate race” against Democrat incumbent Michael Bennet. Romanoff also released an e-mail he received from Messina on September 11, 2009 detailing three jobs.

Romanoff’s revelations strongly suggest that there is more to Sestak’s allegations than we have been told. It’s part of a pattern of behavior brought to the White House by a gang of politicians that’s used to playing hardball machine politics."
