Quote of the Day

"Michelle Obama is a bitter harridan – by her own admission contemptuous of whites because she felt like a pariah at Princeton. She found fertile ground to cultivate her hatred at Sidley Austin. And there she discovered Obama, who had the genetic predisposition to embrace Leninism.

These people are not liberals – they are Marxist-Leninists in mindset, belief, association and action. Liberals don't govern as they are – they govern as Marx advocated and Lenin did."

Quote of the Day

“While our nation is facing is fiscal crisis, House Republicans have at least passed a budget that begins to address the mess we're in. The Democrat Senate majority can't produce a budget of its own, and no Senate Democrat is willing to support Obama's budget. It is clear from these votes that only one party is serious about getting spending under control.”

“Too many of our students can't do basic math, read and don't know their history. I don't think most parents and taxpayers would consider "gender diversity" an efficient use of time and resources. But indoctrinating your children is a priority of the radical left and the militant homosexual rights movement.

The culture war is real and only one side can prevail. This is why men and women of faith must be active in the days ahead -- talking to friends and family members, organizing their neighborhoods, registering new voters and working to elect conservative candidates to public office.

Pray for the Lord's Comfort and Healing

From Tony Perkins, Family Research Council

Weathering the Storm

For the ravaged town of Joplin, Missouri, the 200-mile an hour winds that whipped through on Sunday were just the beginning of a terrifying week that's taken more than 122 lives and left hundreds more missing. People had barely come out of hiding when sirens signaled that more twisters were on their way. The devastation goes on for miles, as a path of killer storms wound through parts of Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Never, in the history of the National Weather Service, has a tornado caused more deaths.

Our hearts break for all of the families who are still looking for loved ones--and for others, who are grieving their loss. We pray the Lord's comfort and healing on so many communities that have been shaken by the tragedy. For most, the church is their only refuge. Praise God that unlike these homes, which were reduced to rubble, our faith is built on a Rock. You can help ease some of the suffering by visiting the websites of the Christian relief teams who are already on the ground in states like Missouri. Samaritan's Purse and the North American Mission Board are in some of the hardest hit areas, bringing food, shelter, and manpower to the relief efforts. Send your support and prayers to the victims. One thing is for sure: the nation is in need of some divine intervention. On July 3, FRC and Christians across the country will fall on their knees and seek God's face as part of Call 2 Fall 2011. If America ever needed prayer, it's now. Log on to the website and let us know if you're "in."

The difference between a President and a politician...

George W. Bush speech after capture of Saddam:

The success of yesterday's mission is a tribute to our men and women now serving in Iraq . The operation was based on the superb work of intelligence analysts who found the dictator's footprints in a vast country. The operation was carried out with skill and precision by a brave fighting force. Our servicemen and women and our coalition allies have faced many dangers in the hunt for members of the fallen regime, and in their effort to bring hope and freedom to the Iraqi people. Their work continues, and so do the risks. Today, on behalf of the nation, I thank the members of our Armed Forces and I congratulate 'em.

Barack Obama speech after killing of bin Laden:

And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network. Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan . And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad , Pakistan .

Quote of the Day

“The pictures out of Joplin, Missouri, are heartbreaking. Scores of lives have been lost, and the community is struggling to clean up the wreckage. Meanwhile, folks along the Mississippi River are reeling from massive flooding. And we have not forgotten those in Alabama who are still trying to put their lives back together after last month's devastating tornadoes.

As you go about your daily routine, please take a moment to pray for those whose lives have been tragically affected by nature's fury. If you would like to do more, please consider supporting Samaritan's Purse or relief agencies supported by your local church or synagogue.

"Let's be clear on this: OBAMA did NOT kill Bin Laden. An American sailor, who Obama just a few weeks ago was debating whether or not to PAY, did. In fact, if you remember, a little less than two years ago, his administration actually charged and attempted to court martial 3 Navy Seals from Seal Team Six. A terrorist suspect they captured, complained they had punched him during the take down and bloodied his nose. Obama's administration further commented how brutal they were. The lefties were calling them Nazi's and Baby Killers. Now all of a sudden the very brave men they vilified, are now heroes when they make his administration look good in the eyes of the public. Obama just happened to be the one in office when the CIA finally found the bastard...... and our sailors took him out. Essentially, Obama only gave an answer........... Yes or No, to him being taken out. This is NOT an Obama victory, but an AMERICAN victory!!"

Losing Our Community

Quote of the Day

“It is audacious for President Obama to make such a radical demand on our ally in the very same speech that he acknowledges the merger of the Palestinian National Authority with the terrorist group Hamas. Obama flippantly suggested that "Palestinian leaders will have to provide a credible answer" for this merger. Just imagine our reaction if any nation demanded we negotiate with Al Qaeda!

Obama's statement today seems certain to complicate his relationship with the American Jewish community. Today's Wall Street Journal indicates that his campaign was in damage control mode even before his speech. It is also certain to galvanize America's evangelical supporters of Israel.

A Prayer for Recovery

Let us pray,

Our Heavenly Father, Great architect of the universe and giver of life.

As a nation, we have so much to be thankful for. Please give our people wisdom and understanding to put meaning in our motto, “In God We Trust”.

We pray for all the members of our local American Legion club.

We pray for our nation.

We pray for Israel.

We pray for all the members of our armed forces at home and abroad.

We pray for all the families along the Mississippi River who have lost their homes. Give them strength and the courage to carry on with their lives.

We thank you Heavenly Father for the recoveries of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and several other wounded in that tragic situation in Tucson, Arizona on January 8th, 2011.

We pray in the name of the God of Abraham and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Amen.

“It remains to be seen how Obama's anti-energy bureaucrats will put these new plans into practice. Remember, we have an energy secretary who once stated his desire for $8.00-a-gallon gas, and an interior secretary who once filibustered attempts to allow more drilling even if gas prices skyrocketed to $10-a-gallon.

George Allen: Standing Strong for Freedom

Latest Federal Assault on Freedom

That is the word to describe the latest federal assault on the freedoms of America's working men and women. In the latest example of over-reaching by the intrusive federal government, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is attempting to block the Boeing Corporation from moving some operations from the State of Washington to South Carolina. South Carolina, like Virginia, is a Right-to-Work state where men and women are not compelled to pay union dues as a condition of employment.

Nowhere in the Constitution is power granted to any appointed group - or the unelected bureaucrats who staff them - to dictate to American companies where they can or cannot locate their businesses and create jobs. This unprecedented power grab can only be seen as an unconstitutional restraint of free trade within the U.S. This decision by President Obama's administration should send shock waves through every Right-to-Work state in the country, including our Commonwealth of Virginia.

Right-to-Work laws are a matter of personal liberty - they protect working men and women from being forced to join a union and pay dues just to get a job. As Governor I saw firsthand how Virginia's Right-to Work laws made our state more competitive for recruiting businesses and creating jobs here in Virginia. Being the furthest state North on the Eastern Seaboard with Right-to-Work laws gives Virginia a great competitive advantage.

As Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Tim Kaine chose to stand with big union bosses as they fought against reforms that would balance Wisconsin's state budget. Unlike Tim Kaine, I will always stand on the side of freedom and opportunity for Virginia's working men and women, not on the side of big union bosses.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and U.S. Senator Jim DeMint are leading the fight to protect the freedoms of American workers - but they need our help. This is a fight we should all join to protect our foundational freedoms and the economic competitiveness of our country. Virginians understand that job creation only flourishes when you provide families and small businesses the freedom to succeed. If elected to the United States Senate I will lead the fight to protect Virginia from the federal government's attacks on our Right-to Work laws and economic competitiveness.

George Allen

Meet Jamie Radtke For Senate from Virginia

from Steven Foley

Here's "a great way to introduce yourself to Jamie Radtke and start your support now as we begin to chose those worthy candidates to take back the Senate in 2012."

On the Issues:

I firmly support individual rights and responsibility, inalienable human rights for the born and unborn, free enterprise, restraints on taxing and government spending, religious freedom, limited government, the integrity of the traditional family as the basic unit of society, and respect for the Constitution and the rule of law.

As your United States Senator, I will:

  • Oppose raising the federal debt ceiling.
  • End the massive and unsustainable federal deficits.
  • Work for meaningful, courageous reform of entitlement programs.
  • Protect the intrinsic right to life.
  • Uphold the traditional family.
  • Defend the 2nd Amendment.
  • Fight to eliminate government subsidies of corporations (e.g. ethanol subsidies)
  • Advocate for energy independent policies that bring down the price of gas.
  • Oppose illegal immigration.
  • Propose a simpler and more fair tax structure
  • Demand a sound monetary policy.

Friday, May 13, 2011

Quote of the Day

"America's energy industry is responsible for more than 9 million jobs and nearly 8% of our gross domestic product. But yesterday, we heard one Senate Democrat after another criticizing oil companies for making profits and bashing their executives as "out of touch."

It's the liberals who are out of touch. Liberals don't like Wal-Mart because its employees aren't unionized. They don't like McDonald's because it puts toys in kids' meals. They want to punish Boeing for opening a plant in a non-unionized state. They attack the pharmaceutical industry, even though it produces the finest life-saving medications in the world.

In short, if you are a successful business, Democrats approach you as if you are a competitor to their ideal where everyone works for Big Government!

Now, contrast yesterday's Senate hearing with what happened in the House, where conservative Republicans passed a bill to dramatically expand offshore drilling. Which of these two approaches -- bashing business executives or allowing access to our natural resources -- do you think is most likely to bring down gas prices?

And which of these two things did you hear about most on the evening news? The left-wing media had a field day showing "Big Oil" CEOs getting their comeuppance from Senate Democrats. And it had little to no interest in reporting what House conservatives were doing to reduce your pain at the pump. "

“America is on the verge of becoming a country in decline—economically stagnant and permanently debtbound, heavily regulated and bureaucratic, less self-governing and less free.

But this fate does not have to be our future. We can get spending under control, balance the budget, and shrink our debt. We can limit the size of government and set free once again the unlimited genius of Americans to create wealth and jobs. We can turn the tide and change our nation’s course.

“Odder still was that we apparently honored the man the media charmingly refers to as UBL with a proper Muslim burial at sea. I do not hold for intentional desecration of any body, even road kill. But, I do believe that every person, dead or alive, should be treated with the respect they have earned. I would have left his faceless carcass lying in his mud mansion and let the Pakistanis, who had no idea he was living a few hundred feet from their military academy, attend to his state funeral.

“It is unconscionable that the Obama Administration is still threatening to prosecute some of the brave men and women whose interrogation of alleged jihadist prisoners helped to take out Osama bin Laden. I'm proud of Ms. Burlingame for having the courage to confront the president.

By the way, Obama can tell his Attorney General to stop the prosecutions. As we know, Obama told Eric Holder not to defend the law defining marriage in America as the union of one man and one woman, and Holder willingly complied.

That this administration would neglect a common sense law while harassing our brave intelligence personnel who are trying to defend this country is an obvious example of its confused and misplaced priorities.”
