Quote of the Day

“It was rhetoric, I thought, that was more appropriate for some left-wing strong man than for the president of the United States. …Three years into his presidency, he is a failed president. …Life in America today, by every measure, is worse than it was when he took over. When does it start to get better? When does the magic of this president start to happen?"

Quotes of the Day

“We have a $1.5 trillion deficit and President Obama rushes to the microphones to complain about tax breaks for corporate jet owners? I'm not sure that strategy is going to work. One veteran journalist wrote: "If President Obama's news conference accomplished anything on Wednesday afternoon, it underscored, in striking tones, his strategy for winning the debt ceiling fight with Republicans: Make it a clash of classes. … In Obama's world, Democrats are for kids and Republicans are for corporate jets."

Gary Bauer

"Those who are calling for tax hikes as a part of these debt discussions either have amnesia about the fate of similar votes just six months ago... if government spending was the answer to an economic slowdown, we'd be in a boom right now! Instead, we're facing record deficits and debt, and a seemingly endless stream of bad economic news."

"So my message to the President is simple: It's time for Washington to focus on fixing itself. It's time Washington take the hit, not the taxpayers!"

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell

OBAMA YOU'RE FIRED !

A Prayer for Victory over Terrorism and Malfeasance

Dear Father,

We salute and praise you again tonight in recognition of the many blessing you bestow upon us every day.

This evening we pray to you for strength, determination and wisdom that we may sustain your plan for our nation as we seek to employ your standards for our governance here on earth.

As we struggle to renew our country on the battlefield where your ideas, principles and steadfastness of purpose are being threatened, we pray you will help us remain focused on preserving, strengthening and defending the Constitution you have given us.

As we dedicate our minds, bodies and spirits to throw off this yoke of Obammanation, help us reach out to all freedom-loving citizens who are at the mercy of this incompetent administration.

Father, please flow into our hearts and minds, the guidance, grace and courage we need to accomplish this mission.

In closing this prayer to you,

May we always be mindful that in this month of June, momentous events occurred under your hand, for which we are thankful and rejoice that we are as one with You.

On June 6, 1944,

You gave us a great victory on D-Day in Normandy where allied armies soon eliminate the Nazi menace which threatened all mankind.

And in 1755 you gave us a great patriot Nathan Hale, whom we should remember tonight, who in 1776 was hung by the British as a spy for General Washington, after uttering those famous words –

“I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.”

And we acknowledge that on the 14th of June 1777, which we now call Flag Day, our 6-year struggle for independence was just beginning, and our first flag as a nation in unity was unfurled with 13 stars and 13 stripes.

And on June 18, 1812, You led us again, successfully into battle, to finish teaching the British a lesson about our independence and freedom on the high seas.

As we leave here tonight we pray that you will guide us to another victory soon over terrorism and over the malfeasance of this administration by giving us a truly principled president who will honor us, We the People, with a government we can be proud of, as we in turn, would honor that office with our respect and our prayers for a renewed nation.

Father, please protect and sustain our fighting men and women wherever they may be.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

Amen.

A Prayer that America Will Wake Up

Let us pray.

Our Heavenly Father, we pray for courage to combat the awful dark cloud that has come over our nation. If this situation does not deeply concern us, nothing else really matters. Where is our sense of outrage and fighting anger?

That godless NBC network took it upon themselves to take out “under God” out of our Pledge of Allegiance and they used children to do it at the U.S. Open. This was no small mistake. It was a major step by one of our three major liberal networks to take God out of our consciousness. This movement is sanctioned by the White House as well as many other factions of our government. Did our president and other political leaders become outraged? No! Not really – have you heard that they became upset over this atrocious act?

Will there be a march on NBC and NBC stations around the country? Probably not! When we have our heads in the sand, it is difficult to see what is happening around us! Will America wake up to what is taking place in our culture – our society?

Only You, our Heavenly Father, can save this nation. We pray for wisdom, courage and understanding.

We pray for every member of our armed forces.

We thank you; Our Father in Heaven that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was able to return to her Arizona home this week.

We pray in the name of the God of Abraham and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Amen

Quotes of the Day

"For more than a decade, NRA has fought for Right-to-Carry in Wisconsin. That perseverance and determination has paid off. Now, Wisconsinites are one step closer to being able to defend themselves outside their homes. Thanks to the actions of a bipartisan majority of state legislators, honest people who choose to get a permit will be less vulnerable to criminal attacks outside their homes. NRA is grateful for the unwavering leadership of Senators Pam Galloway, Rich Zipperer and Neal Kedzie, Assembly Majority Leader Scott Suder and Representative Jeffrey Mursau who fought for the passage of Right-to-Carry in Wisconsin."

"We've heard talk about cutting spending by two trillion if that is stretched over 10 or more years," [and] we can't bind a future Congress to that. The only way we can bind a future Congress is by amendment the Constitution."

"No school would dream of taking your kids on a field trip without asking permission. So it seems a little ridiculous that there are people in America who think it's okay to take young girls to another state for an abortion without calling home! Yesterday, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fl.), Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fl.) tried to put a stop to this outrage by introducing the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (CIANA). Under this law, it would be a federal crime to take a girl across state lines to bypass the parental involvement laws in her home state. If the legislation sounds familiar, it's because the House passed it twice in 2005 and 2006. This time around, 86 members of Congress have co-sponsored the bill (H.R. 2299), and leaders expect even more. In America, most children can't get their ears pierced without a mom or dad's consent. What parent would say that's more dangerous than undergoing major surgery?"

"When Barack Obama took office, the national average for a gallon of gasoline was $1.84. Oil and gas prices have been going up for the past two and half years. Yet Obama did nothing. But now that he is in full campaign mode and his poll numbers are falling, the oil is flowing -- not from increased domestic production, but from a source that he can easily control when it suits his interests."

Quote of the Day

"The Associated Press reports that the president warned Friday against the heavy hand of government and the centralization of power, saying, "This economic mode is dangerous for the country's future." The president added, "The proposition that the government is always right is manifested either in corruption or benefits to 'preferred' companies."

The president continued, "Corruption, hostility to investment, excessive government role in the economy and the excessive centralization of power are taxes on the future that we must and will scrap." The solution, the president said, was that "The government must protect the choice and property of those willing to risk their money and reputation" in the private sector.

Confused yet? Of course that was not President Obama. It may have sounded like a flashback to Ronald Reagan, but the AP was quoting Russian President Demitry Medvedev. Sadly, Russia's president seems to have a better appreciation for free enterprise and the role of limited government than our own!"

Quote of the Day

“But, believe it or not, Democrat National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz actually bragged about the "Obama recovery." Yesterday Schultz told Politico,"We [the Democrats] own the economy. We own the beginning of the turnaround…" I'd like to remind Rep. Wasserman Schultz that when Obama was inaugurated in January 2009, the unemployment rate was 7.6%. Today it is 9.1%. If that's her idea of a "turnaround," it's time for a change!”

Traditional Marriage Still Rules in America

From Victoria Cobb, The Family Foundation of Virginia

Information Alert: American Voters on Same Sex Marriage – Not So Fast!

Recent news reports have celebrated media driven polling that suggests Americans are becoming more supportive of same sex marriage. Proponents of redefining marriage have bludgeoned citizens through op-eds, letters to the editor and media appearances, making some who believe marriage is a sacred union between one man and one woman wonder if homosexual marriage is inevitable.

But new, comprehensive, scientific polling, coupled with analysis of marriage amendment voting patterns shows that a vast majority of Americans still believe in the traditional definition of marriage – by a wide margin.

The survey found that 62 percent of Americans believe marriage is only between one man and one woman, with 53 percent strongly agreeing with that statement.

“These numbers are not surprising,” said Public Opinion Strategies partner, and the survey’s director, Gene Ulm. “More than 63 million Americans in 31 state elections have voted on constitutional marriage amendments. Forty million Americans in all – 63 percent of total voters – have voted to affirm marriage as a union between a man and a woman.”

Look at that last statement closely. Sixty-three percent of voters in the nation have already voted in favor of traditional marriage! Regardless of what media driven polls say, those voters have made their decision – and it supports God’s design for marriage!

The survey was sponsored by the Alliance Defense Fund and completed by the nationally known public opinion research firm Public Opinion Strategies between May 16th and May 19th of this year. Public Opinion Strategies is a nationwide firm that has provided polling for Fortunate 100 companies, 80 Congressmen, 19 senators, six governors, NBC, the Wall Street Journal, and NPR. According to ADF, the poll’s sponsor, “The survey was part of a broad and comprehensive effort examining American attitudes toward marriage. In addition to the national survey, the effort included 14 focus groups completed across the country.”

Needless to say, this report should serve as an encouragement to all of us, and also remind us that we cannot be deceived by media reports that led some to believe that the marriage issue is lost. Indeed, we are the majority on this important, society defining issue.

But same sex marriage advocates and their allies in the national media and government are not going to give up their relentless assault on marriage. Here in Virginia, where we’ve settled the issue of marriage in our Constitution, homosexual advocates are pushing their agenda through non-discrimination policies in state government, policies that are unnecessary, illegal, and threaten our tradition of religious liberty. While we’ve won the marriage issue, we must continue to be vigilant in our defense of our freedoms.

Rep. Cantor Meets Virginia Business Leaders About Jobs

From Congressman Eric Cantor…

Congressman Eric Cantor continues to recognize that the biggest issue we face today is our stagnant economy and the resulting lack of jobs. He continues to meet with business leaders in Virginia’s 7th District to talk about his plan to help the private sector create jobs and get the economy growing again. (You can read more about the plan here.) This plan will help Virginia's families and businesses by fundamentally reforming the tax code, reining in harmful regulations, and reducing the federal debt so people can get back to work.

Eric spoke with NBC 12 about his job growth agenda.

Eric also talked about some of the challenges facing the nation in a visit with the West Richmond Rotary Club last Wednesday. You can read Eric’s remarks in this Richmond Times-Dispatch article.

George Allen: Sparking America's Comeback

George Allen has released his "Blueprint for America's Comeback."

“It's a pro-growth plan of action to jump start job creation, increase competitiveness, and promote freedom and opportunity for all. Our comprehensive plan will send a clear message to the rest of the world that "America is Open for Business."

These are challenging times for our nation, and for many the American Dream feels like it's slipping away. It's time to restore confidence in the drive and ingenuity of the American workforce and get back in control of our own economic destiny. Key components of my plan include:

· Making America Competitive for Job Creators

· Unleashing America's Plentiful Energy Resources and Creativity

· Reining in the Over-Reaching, Over-Spending Federal Government

.

By promoting pro-growth policies that allow businesses to do what they do best - innovate, produce and create jobs - we can change the trajectory of the American economy and return to economic prosperity.
