Quote of the Day

"Many states have begun to use Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards to provide a simplified way to distribute welfare funds to needy families. But the EBT card has highlighted another very concerning issue: welfare funds on Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards are being used at strip clubs, liquor stores, and casinos.

This fraudulent use must be addressed. The taxpayer dollars in this program were intended to help those who have basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter - not to be misused for gambling and adult entertainment.

The House passed legislation last week, H.R. 3567, to prevent the fraudulent misuse of funds within the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) welfare system.

It just makes sense that states should implement policies to prohibit use of TANF funds in these venues. You can read more about the bill on the sponsor’s website here. "
