Liberal Media Shamelessly Spins Aurora Atrocity

By Gary Bauer

Is this what we have come to? Must every event be explained in the context of an ideological agenda?

Americans woke up today to the disturbing news of a mass shooting at an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater. A masked gunman burst through the emergency doors, set off smoke bombs or possibly tear gas and began shooting. At least 12 people were killed and dozens more, perhaps as many as 50, were wounded. The youngest victim is a six year-old child. Our prayers are with the victims, their families and our country.

Little is currently known about the suspect, 24 year-old James Holmes. He was reportedly dropping out of a doctorate program in neuroscience at the University of Colorado-Denver. Police report that his apartment is booby-trapped with "pretty sophisticated" explosive devices that could take days to disarm. I'm sure we'll learn more over the weekend.

Unbelievably, however, that didn't stop the "lame-stream" media from speculating this morning that the Tea Party was somehow connected to this atrocity. Consider this exchange between George Stephanopoulos and Brian Ross, ABC's crack investigative journalist, on "Good Morning America:"

Stephanopoulos: I'm going to go to Brian Ross. You've been investigating the background of Jim Holmes here. You found something that might be significant.
Ross: There's a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado, page on the Colorado Tea Party site as well, talking about him joining the Tea Party last year. Now, we don't know if this is the same Jim Holmes. But it's Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado.
Stephanopoulos: Okay, we'll keep looking at that. Brian Ross, thanks very much.

Looking at what? The left-wing media are so desperate to smear the Tea Party that they don't think twice about throwing out baseless accusations. There is virtually no violence that can be attributed to Tea Party members, but that's where the media look first.

These same politically correct media elites couldn't stop lecturing the country not to rush to judgment in the Foot Hood shooting, even though radical Islam has declared war on us. The Occupy Wall Street movement has a rap sheet a mile long, but I don't recall Brian Ross ever mentioning that.

I am pleased to report that ABC News and Brian Ross have since reversed course. Initially, the network acknowledged that Ross' statement was "incorrect," and later issued an apology saying, "ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted."

Speaking Of Political Correctness…

The Associated Press reports that the FBI was "too concerned about political correctness" to investigate Major Nidal Hasan prior to his murderous rampage at Fort Hood.
According to the report, members of two FBI anti-terrorism task forces first became aware of Hasan's contact with Al Qaeda mouth piece Anwar al-Awlaki nearly one year before the shootings. But when agents based in California requested permission from the FBI's Washington office to pursue the issue, the Washington bureaucrats balked, believing that "interviewing American Muslims who visit extremist websites was a sensitive issue."

This is how dangerous left-wing political correctness can be. The first obligation of government is the protection of innocent life. But the first obligation of the left is to advance its radical agenda at all costs.

Good one!

Quote of the Day

"The mosque is vital for establishing Muslims as sovereign over non-Muslims in a non-Islamic society. Building a mosque in a non-Islamic society or country symbolizies Islam's claim over that society or country, even with a non-Muslim majority."

Dr.Daniel Shayesteh, from his book ISLAM THE HOUSE I LEFT BEHIND

And now for some good news...

It took two years of careful review, but they did it.

The news couldn't have been more encouraging for families seeking to raise their children without having the homosexual agenda in their face.  From the Fox News article:
An 11-member special committee, formed discreetly by top Scout leaders in 2010, "came to the conclusion that this policy is absolutely the best policy for the Boy Scouts," the organization's national spokesman, Deron Smith, told The Associated Press.
Naturally, the homosexual and transgender community isn't altogether pleased with a conclusion that protects the rights of parents to raise their children in an environment where they can choose when to discuss sexual relations -- or at the very least, allow children to participate in organizations that don't condone such bahavior as "moral" and upright.

Homosexual and transgender activists push to participate in events with 12-18 year old boys have decided to submit petitions to be "one of the guys" and volunteer for the Boy Scouts.  Some have even gone so far as to decry the current situation so much, you almost want to offer a block of cheese to go with the whine, as evidenced in this Los Angeles Times op-ed:
It's not as though Scout meetings are hothouses of talk about sexual orientation. There are badges for American Business, American Cultures and American Labor, but none for American Sexuality. The Scouts have every right to say that discussions of sexuality belong in the family, not in the den meeting.
That's right.  That's the way it should be.

Christians have repeated it over and over that the homosexual agenda will never be content at mere "acceptance" into society.  Their goal is to wipe out any sort of opposition whatsoever, whether it's Sunday services or long-standing organizations such as the Boy Scouts.

For one, I'm glad to see the Boy Scouts and their leadership stand by their oath.

No doubt the homosexual and transgender movement will continue to grab for opportunities to insert themselves into this prestigious organization.  They can try all they want -- parents will continue to protect their children regardless.

I hope you'll join me in thanking the Boy Scouts for their courageous stand against the lowest common denominator approach to moral values by sending them a short note of thanks.  It will only take 30 seconds, and it'll be a great reminder that we all stand with and are so proud of their leadership.

"U.S. taxpayers are ill-served by having their tax dollars consistently taken from them to subsidize and pay for corruption and death. The President needs to be questioned how he can still embrace such dishonesty. It is past time the federal government follows the example of numerous states and defunds Planned Parenthood."

Latest Property Rights Outrage in Virginia

By Rob Bell
Delegate, 58th District

This is why we need a Property Rights Amendment to the Virginia Constitution!

As reported on Fox News, the City of Norfolk is trying to use eminent domain to take the property of businessman Bob Wilson.

I recently met with Wilson and he explained that his business has been in Norfolk for 78 years.  The City is trying to take his private property in the name of “economic development,” and apparently intends to redevelop the parcel as a commercial project that will possibly include a movie theater.

Now, I have no problem if Wilson wants to sell his property to someone else.  But the City shouldn’t be able to force him to give it up.  His company is successful.  His building isn’t blighted.   The City just wants someone else to own it.

This is outrageous.  Eminent domain should be used sparingly, and only where the property to be taken is necessary for a true public use, like a road.

As in the Obamacare case, conservatives have found that they cannot always depend on the Supreme Court to protect our Constitutional rights.  The good news is that this year we can do something about it.

For years, I have fought alongside Ken Cuccinelli and others to get add additional property rights to the Virginia Constitution.  We were unsuccessful in 2007, 2009, and 2010, but this last year the General Assembly passed my House Joint Resolution, which would amend the Constitution to stop eminent domain abuses like this one.

How can you help?

1.       Sign Online Petition for Constitutional Amendment:  If it passes, the Amendment would limit eminent domain takings to true public use.  (It also adds other protections.)  You can support the Amendment by signing the online petition here. We will send you additional information on how to advocate for its passage.

2.       Support Bob Wilson: Even if it passes, the Amendment will likely be too late to help Bob Wilson.  He is pursuing his rights in court, but the simplest solution would be for the City of Norfolk to withdraw its efforts to take his property.  A simple e-mail asking the City to let Bob keep his property might help.  You can e-mail the City at city.council@norfolk.gov.

Thank you for your interest in defending the Constitution and private property rights.  With your help, we are making a difference.

"I would like to have heard Romney ask the people gathered there how many potential black presidents would there be today if 17,653,000 blacks had not been murdered by abortion between 1973 and 2011? I would like to have heard Romney make the point that if abortion had been legal when Obama’s mother was pregnant with him the chances are very good he would never have been born."

Easing the Pain

By Tony PerkinsFamily Research Council

Yesterday, I mentioned efforts to repeal the President's signature legislation, Obamacare, and how doing so would protect you from paying for abortion. As early as tomorrow, the House Judiciary Committee led by Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) will mark up another pro-life bill that shifts efforts from defense to offense. The "District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act", H.R. 3803, is supported by 210 cosponsors, including pro-life Democrats like Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) because it would ban the gruesome practice of late term abortion in the District. The U.S. Constitution grants Congress authority over all District laws and since the city Council removed all abortion restrictions it is up to Congress to protect the unborn.

Scientists have shown that unborn children as early as 20 weeks after conception can feel pain because their pain receptors are developed. Doctors performing prenatal surgery routinely give unborn babies anesthesia. Dr. Colleen Malloy from Northwestern University testified in May 2012 that " I firmly believe, as the evidence shows, that the fetal pain experience is no less than the neonatal or adult pain experience." The majority of Americans are, by far, in favor of restricting abortion to the first trimester. Rep. Franks' bill would ban abortion after 20 weeks since we know that late term abortion can cause severe pain for the unborn child.

We need at least 218 cosponsors to show House Leadership a majority supports this bill and should bring it to the floor for a vote. Call your Representative to make sure they are a cosponsor.

Quote of the Day

"The message we are hearing out of many of our politicians and too many in the media about women’s issues today seems to indicate that women are defined simply by their right to abortion.  As a woman, a woman who runs a robust non-profit while raising a family, I’m offended that politicians would reduce women by grouping them in such a monolithic way.  We are complex and multi-faceted.  But that’s long been the mantra of the feminist movement – we are defined, not by our abilities to run businesses and organizations and schools, or hold public office, or the most important of all, raise our families – we are defined only by the ability to take the life of our unborn child. The truth is that abortion hurts women."

"According to the left, it’s the government’s job alone to decide when and how to discuss abortion and birth control methods. It’s part of the left’s authoritarian impulse on all matters related to sexuality and health care.

"But sometimes we are reminded that the Constitution is the ultimate arbiter of laws in our society. And when judges apply the clear meaning of the Constitution to the cases before them, the cause for life usually wins."

And for these white liberals to believe they can have this condescending manner toward black conservatives that we need to have approval from our quote unquote, I guess “masters”, for us to be able to speak – see that’s where the true racism really lies governor is with the white liberals who don’t want to see someone such as myself that broke away from their dependency class and is out here and able to possibly contend against them with the policies that they are promoting that’s destroying the black community. Americans are ready for a new direction

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Statement on the June Unemployment Report

WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the June unemployment report:

"Once again, the monthly jobs report brings devastating news for the millions of Americans looking for work. The Obama economy is defined by chronically high unemployment. Our country is coming out of the worst quarter of job creation in two years. ObamaCare and President Obama's other policies simply are not working and disappointed Americans are ready for a new direction," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

"After taking office, President Obama promised he would fix the economy in three years or face a 'one-term proposition.' While the president believes 'the private sector is doing fine,' the rest of the country knows we are not 'doing fine' at all. We cannot afford another term of this president because we cannot endure four more years of painfully high joblessness.

"Gov. Mitt Romney is uniquely qualified to provide the leadership our economy needs. With his successful record in business, at the Olympics, and in Massachusetts, he has a proven track record. It's time to accept President Obama's offer of a 'one-term proposition,' send Mitt Romney to the White House, and finally get America working again."

About That Crying Woman…

By Gary Bauer

The left-wing media was buzzing yesterday with reports about a sobbing woman at one Ohio campaign stop. Recounting how her sister had died from colon cancer, Stephanie Miller profusely thanked Barack Obama for giving us ObamaCare. According to the Huffington Post, Miller said that ObamaCare "could have saved her sister's life."

The liberal media loved it. And, dutifully, none of them bothered to look into Ms. Miller's background. If they had, the touching story and heartstring-tugging headlines might not have happened.

As it turns out, Miller is die-hard Obamabot. Her Twitter handle is "@obamasbestfan," and her Twitter feed is full of hate aimed at Republicans and conservatives. Here are a few examples that I can reprint:

"If there ever was a valid def. why women need birth control & legalized abortion it would b ROMNEY, SANTORIUM, GINGRINCH, PAUL, & LIMBAUGH!!"

"Has the GOP all drank the kool aid??? Too bad it wasn't the Jim Jones special!!!"

Imagine if someone in tears thanked Mitt Romney. The media would immediately look into her background and if they found anything racist or mean-spirited toward Democrats, that would be the headline: "Racist/Bigot Hugs Mitt Romney."

Quote of the Day

"Consider this breathtaking cascade: An administration violates its constitutional duty to execute the law by deliberately refusing to enforce it. It then characterizes its non-enforcement as simply establishing priorities. It then tries to strike down a state law on immigration on the grounds that it contradicts federal law — by actually trying to enforce it!

The logic is circular, oxymoronic and the very definition of executive overreach. During the Bush-43 years, we were repeatedly treated to garment-rending about the imperial presidency, to major hyperventilation about the “unitary executive.” Yet the current administration’s imperiousness has earned little comparable attention."

Vets Combatting Unemployment

"One of the truly heartbreaking aspects of the Obama economy is the difficulty so many returning veterans have in finding employment. While the national unemployment rate is 8.2%, it is nearly 13% for returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars has made reducing this startling statistic a top priority by sponsoring a company called VetJobs. VetJobs just announced that it is working to help our veterans fill thousands of jobs building the Keystone XL pipeline. But there's a catch. These jobs are on the Canadian side of the border.

Thanks to Obama, there are no Keystone pipeline jobs in this country. In fact, VetJobs had corporate commitments to hire 8,000 veterans for the Keystone pipeline project in America until the Obama Administration rejected it. A recent Rasmussen poll found that 60% of likely voters support the Keystone pipeline, but Barack Obama is siding with the 22% who oppose it.

Thankfully for our vets, the VWF and VetJobs have been able to salvage something of their efforts. But this is just one more example of how Barack Obama's left-wing ideology is hurting America and costing jobs."

Citizens exercise their freedom to preach and pray, and to practice their religion. Subjects must obey mandates, even if those mandates violate their consciences and their most deeply held beliefs.
