WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Robert Hurt (R – Virginia) released the following statement after attending a reception honoring 5th District Virginian and University of Virginia Professor, Dr. Robert Swap, for being chosen as the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching Virginia Professor of the Year.

"I congratulate Dr. Swap on the great honor of being chosen as one of the top professors in the country. The University of Virginia is one of the top universities in the country and we are proud that both UVA and those like Dr. Swap, who share a commitment to higher education, call Virginia's 5th District home."

The U.S. Professors of the Year program salutes the most outstanding undergraduate instructors in the country—those who excel in teaching and positively influence the lives and careers of students. Sponsored by CASE and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, it is the only national program to recognize excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
