IRS Admission that it Targeted Conservative Groups Raises Questions, Warrants Congressional Hearings

May 10, 2013

WASHINGTON,D.C.- Today, the Washington Post reported that the IRS had admitted and apologized for "inappropriately targeting conservative political groups in the 2012 election."

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement in response:

"Today's disturbing revelations that the IRS targeted conservative groups in the last election raises many questions that Congress should demand answers to. Where did the IRS obtain their target list? What actions have been taken to remove these individuals from their position of public trust which they have clearly violated? What steps have been put in place to ensure that this does not happen again?

"This is further evidence of the environment of hostility and corruption that has been fostered by the Obama Administration. Nothing is more troubling than the government of the people, for the people, being used against the people," concluded Perkins.
