Congressman Robert Hurt Continues to Work to Fund the Government and Calls on the Senate to Come to the Negotiating Table

Washington, DC – Congressman Robert Hurt (R-Virginia) released the following statement today after continuing to work with his colleagues to end the current lapse in government operations:

"Today marks the twelfth day of this stall in federal activity, and the twelfth day the President and Senate refuse to join the House in a meaningful way at the negotiating table.  So far, House Republicans have passed fourteen bills to fund the crucial programs of the government while the Senate still fails to act.

"I call on President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Reid to work with us to get this resolved as soon as possible so we can reopen the government and move forward to make fiscally responsible decisions on behalf of the American people."
