D-Day Remembrance Prayer

Dear Friends,

I was recently reminded of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's prayer for our troops and our nation on D-Day, June 6, 1944.  

It begins: "Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.

Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith . . ."

I would like to encourage you to read the prayer in its entirety and reflect on the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation for our nation.  The differences between the patriotism and unity of that time and today could not be more distinct.
