House of Representatives Votes to Quarantine Faith, Attack Parental Rights & the Family

May 17, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Family Research Council President Tony Perkins issued the following statement after passage of the Equality Act (H.R. 5) in the U.S. House of Representatives:

"This is an all-out assault on parental rights, on the family, and on the millions of people of faith in this country.

"The legislation goes far beyond just quarantining faith behind the four walls of a house of worship. This act quarantines faith within your mind and says that's where it must stay. It creates a world that punishes those who exercise their freedom to believe and live according to those beliefs. No institution or person of faith, be it a school, church, synagogue, mosque, business, or non-profit will escape its Orwellian reach.

"The Religious Freedom Restoration Act will be committed to the 'memory hole.' We will then experience a catastrophic loss of religious freedom in America, and, as a result, every American, those who believe and do not believe, will suffer the consequences.

"The American people must continue to speak with great force and clarity in opposition to the 'In-equality' Act," concluded Perkins.

Christian Leaders Petition Congress: Oppose Equality Act, Defend Religious Liberty, Sanctity of Life

May 14, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Last night, twenty-one prominent Christian leaders delivered a letter to Republican and Democratic leadership in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate, opposing the poorly-named Equality Act (H.R. 5). H.R. 5 is scheduled for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday, May 17. The pastors and other evangelical leaders who initially signed the letter include: Tony Perkins, Michele Bachmann, Paul Blair, Stephen Broden, Carter Conlon, James Dobson, Jim Garlow, Franklin Graham, Jack Graham, Jack Hibbs, Harry Jackson, Jr., Robert Jeffress, Guillermo Maldonado, Eric Metaxas, Robert Morris, Ramiro Peña, Everett Piper, Ralph Reed, James Robison, Todd Wager, and Tim Wildmon.

The letter stated:

"As those tasked with the leadership of the church, and as those seeking to humbly convey Biblical truth for the benefit of every man, woman, and child in society, we the undersigned cannot remain silent concerning a dangerous bill pending in Congress known as the Equality Act (H.R. 5). Not only is it incompatible with God's Word (the Bible) and the historic teaching of the church, but the Equality Act is also riddled with threats to religious liberty and the sanctity of human life.

"Passage of this coercive measure would lay the groundwork for this lie to enter classrooms across the nation, as public educators could be compelled to teach it to their students. No family would be safe from the long reach of the Equality Act," it continued.

"As Evangelical and Christian leaders humbly attempting to be faithful to God's Word and historic biblical doctrine, we must clearly state our opposition to the Equality Act and any similar measures. Simply put, this bill will harm men, women, and children, and stifle freedom. It must be stopped," concluded the letter.

Trump's Immigration Plan

Thursday, May 16, 2019

By Gary Bauer

I was honored to be back at the White House today for the unveiling of President Trump's immigration reform plan.  As part of the president's unofficial faith advisory group, I have had some input into the broad outlines of this proposal.

I am pleased to say that it is an America First immigration reform package.  As the president said, "It's just common sense."  It focuses on six broad goals:

  • Securing the border
  • Protecting American wages
  • Attracting highly skilled immigrants
  • Allowing legal migration for immediate family members
  • Addressing labor shortages in critical industries, and
  • Preserving humanitarian values.

The president stressed that his plan was developed with input from law enforcement and that it puts border security first.  It largely ends chain migration and establishes a merit-based immigration system.

It says to potential immigrants, "If you have skills that can help the American economy, we want you."  But American taxpayers cannot afford to take care of every family from Central America and elsewhere.

English proficiency will be taken into consideration.  The left will scream, but in addition to skills it is the most logical thing to consider.  Without anyone voting on it, we are slowly losing the notion that we are an English speaking country, and language is one of the main cultural unifiers.

There should be no ballots printed in any language other than English. Current law says you must know English to become a citizen.  So why are we printing all these foreign language ballots?

We have a crisis at the border, and far too many criminals and gang members are getting in.

The president is trying to lay down markers as to what a modern American immigration system should look like.  As the president noted today, it's been 54 years since our immigration system was last overhauled by Congress.

In the meantime, walls are being built and the administration is doing everything it possibly can to secure the border.

This is just the beginning of a long process that will be debated in the halls of Congress and across the country in the weeks and months ahead.

Exposing Democrats’ Marxist/Socialist/Communist Ties

Tuesday - May 14, 2019

Exposing Democrats' Marxist/Socialist/Communist Ties

Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Pete Buttigieg - Socialists or Communists?

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A newly formed group of activists - STAND Against Communism - led by Bishop E.W. Jackson will hold a press conference on Monday, May 20th at the National Press Club at 10 a.m. to present evidence of prominent Democrats' Marxist and communist connections that the mainstream media are ignoring or covering up.

"The mainstream news outlets refused to investigate and expose Barack Obama's connections to Louis Farrakhan, weather ground member Bill Ayes and admitted communist Frank Marshall Davis. Now they are covering up the extremist politics of leading Democrats including some presidential contenders," said E.W. Jackson, Sr. who is heading the group. "We need to remove the mask of liberalism and progressivism and expose the anti-American ideology which lurks beneath."

The group will reveal research on Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Corey Booker, Pete Buttigeig, Elizabeth Warren and others. Three of the presenters have written books about Democrats strong ties to Communism: Trevor Loudon, Jerome Corsi and Diana West. The reseach continues, and says Bishop Jackson, "Many people will be shocked by to learn that Democrats' lurch to the extreme left is not by accident but by design."

Speakers include: Bishop Jackson, Pastor, author and former candidate for Lt. Governorand U.S. Senator in Virginia.

Trevor Loudon, author of "Barack Obama and the Enemies Within" and "The Enemies Within: Communists, Socialists and Progressives in the U.S. Congress";

Diana West, author of "The Red Thread" and "American Betrayal";

Jerome Corsi, author of "Dr. Corsi Investigates:  Why the Democratic Party Has Gone Communist";

Robert Knight, journalist, author of A Nation Worth Fighting for: 10 Steps to Restore Freedom;

Nelson Velez, Chairman, Virginia Tea Party Federation, Business Owner and escapee from Fidel Castro's Communist Cuba.

The press conference will be held at 10 AM in the Zenger Room, 13th Floor at the National Press Club, 529 14th St NW, Washington, DC.

Future plans of the group will also be announced. "We intend to make sure American voters know exactly who and what they are getting in every candidate," says Jackson. "This is ultimately not about Party, but about liberty versus state control."

Confronting Judicial Supremacy

Friday, May 10, 2019

By Gary Bauer

Once again, Donald Trump and Mike Pence are showing why this administration may well be the most conservative administration in modern memory.  Speaking to the Federalist Society this week, Vice President Mike Pence announced that the Trump Administration would take steps to reign in our rogue judiciary.

Specifically, Pence denounced left-wing district judges who have been handing out nationwide injunctions like they were candy, and he vowed that the administration would aggressively fight to end this practice.

Now I realize that for most Americans "nationwide injunctions" aren't exactly hot topics of discussion around the dinner table.  But this is a big deal.  Left-wing judges have been blocking the president's agenda every step of the way from the moment he first took office.

Here's some of what Pence said:

"These orders are issued by federal district court judges on a broad range of issues — from national security to immigration, from border security to healthcare reform.  And these orders prevent the entire Executive Branch from enforcing a statute, a regulation, or a policy on a nationwide basis.  And they apply everywhere, to everyone. . .

"It's remarkable to think a Supreme Court justice has to convince four of their colleagues to uphold a nationwide injunction, but a single district court judge can issue one, effectively preventing the duly elected president of the United States from fulfilling what he believes is a constitutional duty.

"This obstruction at the district level is unprecedented.  Studies show that there's not a single example of a nationwide injunction in the first 175 years of our nation's history. . . [But] our administration has been unfairly hit with more nationwide injunctions than the first 40 American presidents combined. . .

"This era of judicial activism must come to an end. . . In the days ahead, our administration will seek opportunities to put this very question before the Supreme Court."

Pence went on to reiterate that decisions impacting every American should be made only by our elected representatives, either the president or the Congress, or the Supreme Court – not by one left-wing judge in some liberal enclave.

Pres. Trump's New Regs to Better Enforce Laws Protecting Conscience Rights is Welcome News, says FRC

May 2, 2019

Washington, D.C. - President Trump announced today on this National Day of Prayer new regulations through the Department of Health and Human Services that will more effectively enforce existing federal laws that protect the conscience rights of healthcare providers.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement:

"On this National Day of Prayer, many healthcare providers have an answer to their prayers. President Trump announced today new regulations that will enforce over two-dozen federal laws so that healthcare professionals won't be forced to choose between their moral beliefs and their desire to help patients.

"President Trump's efforts reflect a long history in American constitutional law about the morality of conscience rights. Unfortunately, the previous administration had little concern for protecting the conscience rights of doctors, nurses, and residents.

"Despite current law that has protected conscience rights for over 30 years, the lack of regulations resulted in confusion and a lack of awareness within the healthcare community, leaving healthcare personnel vulnerable to discrimination and forcing them to drop their specialties at a time of healthcare scarcity. Protecting the right of all healthcare providers to make professional judgments based on moral convictions and ethical standards is foundational to federal law and is necessary to ensure that access to healthcare is not diminished, which would occur if they were forced out of their jobs because of their ethical stances.

"Today is another crucial moment in which President Trump's promises are becoming a reality. Every American should be greatly encouraged to know that they have a president who stands up for the freedom to believe and live according to those beliefs without fear of discrimination," concluded Perkins.

Executing Babies

May 2, 2019

By Gary Bauer

One of the positive things about people like Ilhan Omar and her unfiltered opinions is that it is so revealing of the left's mindset.  Like Omar, State Representative John Rogers (D-AL) expressed an unfiltered opinion on abortion, which I assume is not a rare view on the pro-abortion left.

During a debate this week on Alabama's Human Life Protection Act, Rogers said this:

"Some kids are unwanted, so you kill them now or you kill them later. You bring them in the world unwanted, unloved, you send them to the electric chair. So, you kill them now or you kill them later."

What a disgusting comment about babies and their mothers.  Is he really suggesting that unplanned babies will grow up to be murderers?

The facts clearly do not support Rep. Rogers' radical opinion.  Last year, there were only 25 executions in the United States.  Planned Parenthood performed more than 300,000 abortions last year.

At least convicted murderers get the benefit of a trial before they are put to death.  Unborn babies in the womb aren't read their rights, much less get a hearing, before they are put to death.  And that's what is wrong with abortion.

Roe v. Wade, like the infamous Dred Scott decision that legalized slavery, is based on the idea that some humans have no rights we are bound to respect.

At today's National Day of Prayer service, President Trump vowed to defend the sanctity of life, saying, "Every child -- born and unborn -- is a sacred gift from God."  The president also announced that his administration was expanding conscience rights protections for healthcare professionals and institutions.

Fake Liberal News Covering for Emmett Hanger

It's no surprise that leftist "news" sources like PolitiFact are are trying to defend Emmett Hanger's proven record of voting for three of the largest proposed tax hikes in Virginia history.
The facts don't lie! Virginia voters will not be fooled by fake liberal press coverage.

We cannot afford another two years of Emmett voting with Democrats and turning his back on our conservative values that he's failing to represent.

I would be honored to have your support in this fight!

Family Research Council Turns Spotlight on Countries with Apostasy, Blasphemy, and Anti-Conversion L

April 30, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Family Research Council's Center for Religious Liberty today unveiled a new publication, "Apostasy, Blasphemy, and Anti-Conversion Laws," which documents these types of laws, their consequences, and the countries that still countenance these constraints on religious liberty. Travis Weber, Family Research Council's Vice President for Policy and Director of the Center for Religious Liberty, announced the new publication during a live-streamed event featuring a conversation on international religious freedom with Tony Perkins, President of Family Research Council and a Commissioner with the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

Of the 75 countries listed in the report (nearly 40% of the world), 18 countries have apostasy laws, 72 have blasphemy laws, and 6 have anti-conversion laws, with 21 countries having two of the three types of laws. Apostasy laws, featured in much of the Muslim world, intend to punish those who convert away from Islam, blasphemy laws prohibit insults to religion, and anti-conversion laws prohibit people from converting from any faith to another. All these laws violate religious freedom.

According to the report, "While the specific threats to religious freedom vary in type and intensity, one common source is the legal and cultural support for apostasy, blasphemy, and/or anti-conversion laws, which often threaten the freedom to choose and/or change one's faith.

"While threats to religious freedom arise from other sources, these three types of laws and the cultural support behind them are major threats to the freedom to choose one's faith--and thus to religious freedom worldwide," it continued.

The Center for Religious Liberty's full publication, "Apostasy, Blasphemy, and Anti-Conversion Laws," is available for download here.
