Have Republicans in the 30th District been disenfranchised or was it just the “Fickle Finger of Fate”?

By Bob Hill

Our candidate (the current Delegate representing the 30th District) Nick Freitas, has been denied position on the November Ballot by a series of circumstances worthy of the old TV show "Laugh In", where the "Fickle Finger of Fate" was awarded.  Nick's paper work was submitted on time to the Department of Elections electronically, but to an out of date and discontinued e-mail address. The subsequent invalid address was returned to a computer which crashed.  Before the failure was detected, the filing deadline passed. Nick's application for an exception for justifiable cause was rejected by the Elections Board.  Rules are Rules ---- Right?  Only there were other candidates who missed the filing deadline that were granted an exception!  So was this politics? Does the Governor have any influence? Is the fact that the 3 person Electoral board is composed of 2 Democrats and one Republican important?  These are valid questions to be pondered.  Some other facts:  Nick Freitas has been an outspoken critic of Governor Northam's liberal agenda. He has avowed his amazement and disapproval of the governor's support for the termination (murder) of live- born babies, born during late term abortions. Nick is Pro-Life!

Nick believes the major duty of government is to protect individual liberty and private property. He supports low taxes, protecting private property rights, and opposes onerous regulations that are hurting small business.  His life has been one of service to his country. He has served us well and has demonstrated his commitment to all of the people in our district. Clearly candidates with names on the ballot are given an advantage in elections.  It appears that train has passed and there is no possibility of Nick's name being on the ballot. Was it just the "Fickle Fate"?  No, to a certain level we've been disenfranchised! But we can defeat the "Fickle Finger of Fate".  All we need do is write in Nick Freitas on our ballots.  I will do so and urge my friends to do likewise.
