Anti ERA Podcasts - Del. Bob Marshall
Democrat Members of Congress are attempting to use illicit methods to breathe life into the dead Equal Rights Amendment which is still a bad idea 37 years after it expired in 1972. In the Virginia General Assembly this year, the ERA came within a single vote of passing!
I have prepared nine Reclaiming the Republic podcasts analyzing the Equal Rights Amendment based on Congressional Hearings, floor debate, court cases, law review journals, and other documents with quotes from proponents and opponents.
This critical battle is being waged now! Passage of a federal ERA would embed abortion in our US Constitution, force women into combat, and end any separation of the sexes in prisons, shelters, sports, etc.
You can Listen to my "Reclaiming the Republic" Podcast at the Apple link:
Share these podcasts with friends and vote against any candidate who supports the ERA. We must stop the illegitimate and dishonest effort by ERA zealots to amend the U.S. Constitution with three rather than the 38 states required by our Constitution.

The Intolerant Left and More Left-wing Nonsense
Friday, September 6, 2019
By Gary Bauer
The Intolerant Left
Famed New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is under attack by the radical left and its media allies. Why is Brees suddenly the subject of so much attention?
Did he protest the national anthem? No. Did he tweet something nasty about Donald Trump? No. For those things, he would be applauded by our cultural elites.
No, Brees's sin was recording a brief video encouraging kids to take their Bibles to school, encouraging them to "live out your faith . . . and share God's love with friends." Oh, the horror!
The video was produced by our friends at Focus on the Family. And for that Brees is being accused of promoting hate and being "anti-LGBT." Nothing could be further from the truth -- about either Drew Brees or Focus on the Family.
I still look back fondly on my years with Focus on the Family and my relationship with Dr. James Dobson. It was Dr. Dobson who appointed me as president of the Family Research Council after I left the Reagan Administration.
The overwhelming majority of Focus's work is helping to keep marriages and families intact because that is what we know is best for children. Unlike the left, Focus isn't trying to force its values on anyone else. They don't force anyone to follow their advice. They offer it freely to anyone who seeks it.
The attack on Brees is just the latest indication of the left's growing intolerance for men and women of faith. It is a reminder of what is at stake in the culture war raging over the values we will pass on to our children and grandchildren.
More Left-wing Nonsense
- The Real Salt Lake soccer team, part of Major League Soccer and the United States Soccer Federation, recently told two fans to stop waving the Betsy Ross flag or they would be ejected from the game. The team claimed the flag was a "symbol for hate groups." Well, somebody should have told Barack Obama that.
- As this week's news made clear, the left is obsessed with climate change. What's the left's other great obsession? Russia. Well, guess what? They're linked. Russia (and China too) would love to see the U.S. adopt policies that destroy our energy industry and cripple our military. It seems many on the left may be colluding with Russia. Perhaps another special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate climate change collusion.

Albemarle County Republican Committee Opposes Red Flag Laws

Fellow Virginia Conservatives,
As more and more sellout politicians team up with the radical anti-gunners, it is up to the voters of the Commonwealth to stop them.
And that is exactly what Connie Stevens and the Albemarle Republican Committee decided to do last week.
Here is the press release

Republican County Committee Stands Against Red Flag Laws
This past Thursday (Aug. 28th, 2019) at its quarterly meeting, the Albemarle County Republican Committee took a bold step for liberty by adopting a Resolution Affirming our Bill of Rights and against Red Flag Gun Confiscation Schemes.
"As you all know, our gun rights are under assault like never before – both on the federal level and here on the State level. To combat that, it's good for all our local Republican units to make their voices heard. I would like to see our State Party adopt a similar resolution at their meeting this Saturday," said Connie Stevens, member of the Albemarle County Republican Committee who led this effort.
The Bill of Rights Resolution that passed was authored by the Virginia Constitutional Conservatives and states-
'Whereas, the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution states "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed'; and
Whereas, the 4th Amendment of the United States Constitution states "The right of the peopleto be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized"; and
Whereas, the 5th Amendment of the United States Constitution states "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation"; and
Whereas, the 6th Amendment to the United States Constitution states "In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence";
Therefore-
Resolved, the Albemarle County Republican Committee stands steadfast with the constitutionally protected rights of the citizens of Albemarle County; and
Resolved, the Albemarle County Republican Committee resolutely opposes Red Flag Gun Confiscation Laws, otherwise known as "Extreme Protection Acts" including the Threat, Assessment, Prevention and Security Act (TAPS); and
Resolved, the Albemarle County Republican Committee requires that all Republican elected representatives and candidates in Albemarle County oppose these unconstitutional schemes;
and
Resolved, that the Chairman of the Albemarle County Republican Committee shall cause copies of this resolution to be disseminated to all Republican members of the General Assembly, and to the media.'
"As more and more fake conservatives work with anti-gun radicals, it is time the people take a stand and demand that those elected to serve them also serve the very principles of liberty that our forefathers fought and died for," said S. Chris Anders, Director of the Virginia Constitutional Conservatives. "Grassroots leadership will make a difference, and Connie Stevens and the Albermarle County Republican Committee need to be commended for their actions."
"Currently Loudoun County is set to vote on the same Bill of Rights Resolution in September and we encourage all Republican County Committees to adopt this resolution of freedom, liberty standing by the rights our Republic was created to preserve."

A Landmark Change in Asylum Policy
August 16, 2019
IRLI brief supports rule that would require Central American asylees to apply first in Mexico
WASHINGTON—The Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) has filed a letter brief with the Executive Officer for Immigration Review (EOIR) that endorses new joint regulations seeking to discourage Central American nationals from claiming asylum at the Mexican-U.S. border, without first applying for protection under Mexican refugee law.
The EOIR is the agency within the U.S. Department of Justice responsible for management of the nation's immigration courts. On July 16, 2019, EOIR and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security published a joint regulation that will make an alien who attempts to enter or arrives at the southern border after travelling through Mexico presumptively ineligible for asylum, unless the alien has applied for protection from persecution or torture under Mexican law. As IRLI points out in its public comments, Mexico is a signatory to a broader range of United Nations conventions and protocols protecting refugees, including international conventions protecting women and migrants against discrimination and abuse, than is the United States.
The new regulations do not apply to Mexican nationals, unaccompanied alien children of any nationality, or to adult or child victims of human trafficking. In addition, aliens who can prove that they likely would be killed or tortured if expelled back to their home countries remain eligible to have their removal suspended until human rights conditions have improved, a procedure called "withholding of removal."
"Considering the intricate provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act together shows that they operate, as Congress intended, to authorize the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security to impose critical limitations on application and eligibility for asylum, and that these limitations are fully consistent with both the asylum statute and federal immigration law as a whole," commented IRLI Senior Counsel Michael M. Hethmon, who prepared the IRLI brief.
"IRLI strongly supports the policy rationales articulated in the Interim Final Rule. The new amendments are urgently needed and will significantly reduce the incentive for the massive surge in trafficking of Central American women and children across Mexico, with all its attendant abuses and dangers," said IRLI Executive Director and General Counsel, Dale L. Wilcox. "Our legal analysis shows that the new regulations will contribute materially to reducing both the detention of these vulnerable populations and the debilitating backlogs in asylum processing. Our analysis is especially timely given that the Ninth Circuit has just lifted a nationwide injunction to allow the Mexican transit asylum ban to be enforced in Texas and New Mexico," Wilcox stated.
The IRLI public comment was submitted in response to EOIR Docket No. 19-0504: Asylum Eligibility and Procedural Modifications, 84 Fed. Reg. 33829 (July 16, 2019).

Family Research Council Commends Dept. of Labor's Proposed Rule Protecting Religious Employers
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Mary Beth Waddell, Family Research Council's Senior Legislative Assistant released the following statement in response to a proposed rule by the Department of Labor that protects religious employers from government discrimination:
"Given recent decisions by the United States Supreme Court protecting religious liberty, today the Department of Labor issued a proposed rule clarifying the rights of religious employers to contract with the Department without being forced to violate their conscience rights. This is in keeping with our nation's history of respect for moral and religious beliefs.
"Family Research Council applauds the Department for taking steps to ensure that religious employers are free to operate according to their religious beliefs without fear of government punishment," concluded Waddell.

Quote of the Day
"Jesus was not a socialist. The Gospel of Jesus is not the gospel of Karl Marx. Jesus loves investors as much as He loves the homeless. Nor was Jesus a fan of big government. The big government of His day (Rome) greased the skids to crucify Him.
"There is not one verse where Jesus calls on government to obey the Ten Commandments. He does not call on government to minister to the poor.
"All of His exhortations are directed to Christians. He said if you have money, share it with the poor. He did not say, "If you are a Christian legislator, take money from others and give it to the poor."
"Jesus is not Robin Hood and that's not Christian charity. That's communism, which kills Christian charity because it first robs people of their own money and choices, and it has also killed millions around the world because it also robs them of their freedom."

The Mueller Meltdown
Thursday, July 25, 2019
By Gary Bauer
The Mueller/Media Meltdown
During yesterday's hearings, the fake news commentators had to observe in real time what everyone else was seeing with our own eyes. Robert Mueller was melting down and so too were the left's impeachment delusions.
As the hearings progressed we began to hear the Trump-haters lamenting Mueller's performance. Here are some examples:
- Left-wing law professor Laurence Tribe tweeted, "This morning's hearing was a disaster. . . the tired Robert Mueller sucked the life out of [his report]."
- Michael Moore declared Mueller to be "A frail old man, unable to remember things, stumbling, refusing to answer basic questions."
- NBC's Chuck Todd said, "On optics, this was a disaster."
- ABC's Terry Moran declared, "Impeachment's over."
- Even Rep. Al Green (D-TX), who forced a vote on impeachment last week, conceded, "Some persons were hoping for a . . . 'wow' moment. It didn't happen."
But if you were like most Americans who didn't watch the hearings and only turned on the evening news or opened your morning newspaper today, here's the "news" you likely heard or read: "Mueller did not exonerate Trump."
That's the best possible spin the left could come up with, but it is totally absurd.
In our system of justice, prosecutors or special counsels do not announce they have or have not exonerated someone. You are either guilty or not guilty, and juries make that determination.
That was the key point Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX), a former federal prosecutor, drove home during yesterday's hearing.
Ratcliffe asked Mueller, "Which Department of Justice policy sets forth a legal standard that an investigated person is not exonerated if their innocence is not conclusively determined?"
When Mueller couldn't answer the question, Ratcliffe answered it for him, saying, "You can't find it because . . . it doesn't exist."
Prosecutors and special counsels either find there is enough evidence to issue an indictment or that there is not enough evidence to issue an indictment. Mueller found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. That should have been the end of it.
The Real News
If we actually had a functioning media with real journalists dedicated to reporting facts, then every American would know what yesterday's big news was. And it was this: Robert Mueller was clearly unfamiliar with the Mueller Report.
There are now serious questions about whether Mueller was used as a prop while a team of Clinton loyalists attempted to do what Hillary Clinton could not -- get Donald Trump out of the White House.
It would take a small book to outline all the episodes that occurred yesterday raising questions about who really ran this investigation, but here are just a few.
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) asked Mueller, "Who wrote the nine-minute comments that you read at your May 29th press conference?" Mueller refused to answer, leading Gohmert to reply, "So that's what I thought. You didn't write it."
It should have been an easy question to answer unless Mueller didn't want to answer it, and he clearly did not.
Here's something else: Millions of Americans know that Fusion GPS is the opposition research firm hired by the Clinton campaign to dig up dirt on Donald Trump. Fusion GPS worked with foreign spies and Russians to produce the unverified Steele dossier, which the FBI used to spy on the Trump campaign.
As Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) noted:
"There is collusion in plain sight. . . The Democrats colluded with Russian sources to develop the Steele dossier and Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya colluded with the dossier's key architect, Fusion GPS head Glenn Simpson."
Yet, when Mueller was asked about Fusion GPS, he was clueless even though Fusion GPS was included in his report and was a central player in this scandal.
And that leads us to this big news.
Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel because a dossier full of lies was circulated throughout Washington. It was paid for by the Clinton campaign and sourced by Russians, yet Mueller claimed it was not within his purview to examine the dossier.
The origin of evidence is a fundamental issue in our justice system. Evidence makes or breaks a case.
Yet in this case it seems the special counsel wasn't interested in looking at all of the evidence involving Russian interference in our elections. Maybe that's because Andrew Weissmann and Aaron Zebley were still working for Hillary Clinton.
Attorney General William Barr has a lot on his plate. But he really should look into who ran the Mueller investigation. The man we saw yesterday was not capable of controlling dozens of partisan lawyers and producing an unbiased report.

Trump vs. The Squad
As you undoubtedly know by now, the president tweeted over the weekend that "loud and vicious voices" on the progressive left were attempting to dictate how the U.S. should be run. He suggested that they "go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came."
Yesterday, amid mounting criticism, the president doubled down, saying, "As far as I'm concerned if you hate our country, if you're not happy here, you can leave."
The four members of the progressive Squad -- Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley -- held a press conference yesterday afternoon. They accused the president of being a racist, of pushing a "white nationalist agenda," of dividing the country and committing various crimes.
Pressley refused to refer to Trump as "president," and called him "the occupant of the White House." She claimed that the Trump Administration was putting children in cages at the border.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accused the president of ripping families apart at the border.
Rashida Tlaib accused Trump of "utter disregard and disrespect for the Constitution." She too urged Trump's impeachment.
Allow me to correct the record.
- Those so-called "child cages" were built by Obama and they are meant to protect children from random adults in the detention facilities.
- There is zero evidence that women in border detention facilities were told to or forced to drink from toilets.
- As for separating children from their families, that's what happens when you break the law. Any time a citizen breaks the law and is arrested, he is separated from his children. Moreover, many of these so-called "families" are not families at all. The children are being used to exploit loopholes in our weak immigration laws, which the Squad refuses to fix.
- Robert Mueller and his team of Clinton-supporting lawyers found no evidence that Trump colluded with Russia.
- As for disrespecting the Constitution, it is the left that routinely assaults the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion and our Second Amendment rights.
- As for Omar, the House was forced to vote on a resolution condemning her repeated anti-Semitic remarks and yesterday she refused to condemn Al Qaeda.
- And when it comes to dividing America, that's all the left does. It's all about identity politics.
Once again, these progressives seemed far more committed to helping illegal immigrants than to helping American citizens. AOC, who wants to abolish ICE, led the fight to stop Amazon from bringing thousands of jobs to New York.
Omar spent the Fourth of July belittling America. She later said she was "ashamed" of America "continuing to live in its hypocrisy," whatever that means.
And don't forget that just last week they were accusing Nancy Pelosi of racism.
What's Next?
These four women have risen to the top of the progressive movement by attacking America, attacking law enforcement, smearing our border guards and pushing extreme policies. They are increasingly driving the agenda of the left.
In a strange twist, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has suddenly been forced to rally around AOC and Omar, yet her caucus is divided on how to respond. Pelosi wants a simple resolution, while others are demanding a formal censure. Progressives won't do anything to stop the crisis at the border, but they will spend time on resolutions condemning Trump.
Moreover, Pelosi has been struggling to keep a lid on the progressive push for impeachment. It came up repeatedly at yesterday's press conference, and now Rep. Al Green (D-TX) is vowing to force an impeachment vote on the House floor.
