Dear Friend,
It is my honor to invite you to a public forum on human trafficking I'm hosting along with Rep. Ann Wagner (MO-02), a key leader and author of three key pieces in the fight to end this modern day slavery. It's a sad fact that human trafficking happens just under our noses, and we are often unaware of those being afflicted.
In this Internet era, the storefront for trafficking has moved from the streets to online. So when I learned that Rep. Wagner had introduced the Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, or FOSTA, that would shut down trafficking sites like Backpage.com and shady parts of Craigslist, I immediately offered to help promote the bill. Through a bipartisan effort, FOSTA received enough support in both the House and Senate to make it to the president's desk and get signed into law in April.
Rep. Ann Wagner and I would be delighted if you were able to attend our public forum to learn about the positive impact FOSTA has made already as well as what else Congress can be doing to make sure this modern form of slavery comes to a swift and judicious end. Keynote Speaker:
