HARRISONBURG – Today, Mark Obenshain's campaign for Attorney General released a new TV ad: Truth. The ad features Rockingham County Commonwealth's Attorney Marsha Garst and Roanoke City Sheriff Octavia Johnson, two of the 116 Republican, Democratic and Independent Sheriffs and prosecutors who have endorsed Obenshain for Attorney General. The ad also highlights the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police, representing more than 7,500 members of law enforcement throughout Virginia, which announced its endorsement of Mark Obenshain for Attorney General yesterday.
Speaking about the ad, Campaign Manager Chris Leavitt said, "Virginia's Fraternal Order of Police endorsed Mark Obenshain yesterday, saying that he 'will best serve the needs and concerns for all law enforcement.' Mark Obenshain is the clear choice of the public safety community, having already been endorsed by 116 Republican, Democratic and Independent Sheriffs and prosecutors. Our opponent, before removing their names from his website, had been endorsed by fewer than 20. Our public safety officials know that Mark Obenshain will be an Attorney General who will be ready to lead on day one and work with them to keep our communities safe. While Mark Herring resorts to the negative smear tactics that Virginia voters are quite frankly sick of, Mark Obenshain will continue to reach Virginians talking about what he'll do to make public safety a top priority as Attorney General."
Rockingham County Commonwealth's Attorney Marsha Garst: Mark Herring's political attacks on Mark Obenshain are wrong
Roanoke City Sheriff Octavia Johnson: Mark Obenshain has the record and experience to protect Virginians
Garst: We need an Attorney General who will protect, not attack like Mark Herring
Mark Obenshain: Mark Herring's false attacks on my character completely disregard my work to protect women and children from violence and sexual predators. As Attorney General, I'll continue this work with the trust and character you expect.
Mark Obenshain is the Republican nominee for Attorney General of Virginia. He currently represents the 26th District in the Senate of Virginia.
