Can you imagine what would have been said if President Bush had nominated folks like these?
"Congressman Eric Cantor had a great quote this week:
"It is easy for the other side to advocate higher taxes because you know what? They don't pay them."
Cong. Cantor was referring to the THREE Obama appointees and the spouse of a FOURTH Obama appointee that have not paid their taxes.
I can hear it now... 'What, you expect us to pay taxes like ordinary people?'
The three appointees are former Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle (formerly on the tax-writing Senate Finance Committee!), Timothy Geithner (for Treasury Secretary!), and Nancy Killefer.
Amazingly, Geithner was the former President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Even more amazing, he was confirmed by the Democratic Senate anyway! Daschle and Killefer withdrew their nominations last week.
Sam Sayyad, the husband of Congresswoman Hilda Solis of California, Obama's Labor Secretary nominee, had liens on his business for failure to pay taxes.
It seems that the most effective tax collection device in recent years is to be nominated by President Obama. It seems to be much more effective than IRS audits."
