Farm Bureau's AgPAC endorses Suetterlein

Local Farmers Say Suetterlein is Best Choice for Region

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Virginia Farm Bureau Federation's AgPAC has endorsed Senator David Suetterlein in the race to represent the New River and Roanoke Valleys in the Virginia Senate. Sen. Suetterlein became one of the 101 candidates endorsed by the Farm Bureau's AgPAC in this year's 140 General Assembly races based on the recommendations of local farmers.

"David has fought back against attempts to install burdensome regulation that would hurt farmers and at the same time fought for more funding for Agricultural best management practices to help farmers be even better stewards of our land and resources. David is a true friend of the farmer," said Stacey and Casey Phillips, third generation dairy farmers of Montgomery County.

Agriculture is Virginia's largest private industry providing an economic impact of $82.3 billion annually and more than 381,800 jobs in the Commonwealth according to the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center.

"Agriculture is the backbone of the Commonwealth and it is an honor to have earned the support of our region's hardworking agriculture leaders in this autumn's election. I will continue to work for our farmers in the General Assembly that work so hard for our communities," said Sen. Suetterlein.

The Farm Bureau's AgPAC is the second group that endorses candidates of both parties to endorse in the Fourth Senate District race and the second to choose Sen. Suetterlein. This spring, Clean Virginia endorsed Sen. Suetterlein based on his work for captive electric rate payers in legislative battles with electric monopolies.

The Farm Bureau's AgPAC endorsed a variety of Democrats and Republicans across the region including Delegate Sam Rasoul (D-Roanoke City), Delegate Jason Ballard (R-Giles) and Republican Delegate candidate Will Davis of Franklin County.

Sen. Suetterlein has been a key member of the Senate Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources Committee where he has been a strong advocate for property rights, fought for more funding for Agricultural best management practices and was part of bipartisan coalitions that mandated testing for PFAS chemicals in water.

"Farmers are the original environmentalists. There is no one with a larger financial stake in clean water and soil stewardship than our famers. I am proud of the work we have accomplished together and look forward to what more we can do in the future," said Sen. Suetterlein.

Senator David Suetterlein represents portions of the Roanoke Valley, New River Valley, and Southwest Virginia in the Virginia Senate. He lives in Roanoke County with his wife Ashley and their children who attend local public schools. He is a Realtor with the locally owned and operated MKB, REALTORS.

Donalds & Comer Probe Then-Vice President Biden’s Misuse of Air Force Two

August 30, 2023

WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) and House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) today are calling on the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to provide documents, communications, and manifests related to then-Vice President Biden's misuse of Air Force Two and Marine Two.

"The walls are closing in on the Biden Family due to consistent and diligent efforts by House Republicans who've followed the money, conducted meticulous interviews and hearings, and uncovered undeniable corruption. I am proud to partner with Chairman Comer on this latest undertaking to expose then Vice President Biden's gross misuse of Air Force Two and Marine Two to benefit his family's enterprise. The American people deserve to know how much their former Vice President and current President abused his power to shake down foreign governments and enrich his family to the tune of millions of dollars," said Congressman Donalds.

Recent reporting indicates Hunter Biden traveled to at least 15 countries with then-Vice President Biden. The Oversight Committee has also learned that then-Vice President Biden met with at least one of Hunter Biden's associates in Beijing while visiting on official business. NARA is the custodian agency of vice-presidential records, and the Oversight Committee seeks information regarding the use of Air Force Two by then-Vice President Biden's family during the Obama-Biden Administration.

"Then-Vice President Joe Biden abused Air Force Two by allowing his son to jet set around the world to sell 'The Brand' to enrich the Biden family. This is yet another example of then-Vice President Biden abusing his public office for his family's financial gain. There must be accountability for this abuse of taxpayer-funded resources. We fully expect the National Archives to provide this information to the Oversight Committee so that we can provide the transparency that Americans demand and deserve," said Chairman Comer.

Victory! Court Rules for Alien Detention in New Jersey Inbox Subscriptions

Agrees with IRLI brief that state law is unconstitutional under Supremacy clause

WASHINGTON—A federal district court in New Jersey has ruled that a state law banning private detention facilities for immigration violators is unconstitutional. The decision tracks arguments made by the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI), which filed a brief in the case in July.

In its brief, IRLI showed that the New Jersey law AB 5207 is preempted under the Constitution's Supremacy Clause because it intentionally interferes with a federal contracting program, which immigration statutes expressly contemplate, and that no "presumption against preemption" applies because immigration is exclusively an area of federal concern.

In his ruling, Judge Robert Kirsch agreed with IRLI's argument.

"Although reference to the federal government was conveniently omitted from AB 5207, the statute is a dagger aimed at the heart of the federal government's immigration enforcement mission and operations," Judge Kirsch wrote. "Congress's assignment to the federal government the responsibilities to enforce the civil immigration laws, including, when necessary, through detention, renders AB 5207 unconstitutional under the Supremacy Clause."

IRLI also showed that the law discriminates against the federal government, in violation of the immunity doctrine, by allowing privately-run facilities that serve state purposes while banning those that serve federal purposes.

"Given the border security crisis that has escalated the last few years, it is essential for our country to have the ability to detain illegal aliens who have violated federal law and are fighting deportation," said Dale L. Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of IRLI. "Immigration is a federal concern, and the New Jersey law was a brazen attempt to interfere with the federal government's constitutional role. The court made the right call here."

The case is CoreCivic, Inc. v. Murphy, No. 3:23-cv-00967 (D.N.J.).

Concerned Citizens Pack Town Hall Event as State Senate Candidate Bill Woolf Shines Light on Human Trafficking and the Need for Sage’s Law

Manassas, VA – More than 250 concerned citizens filled a Manassas auditorium for a town hall that took place on the heels of a new lawsuit, filed by Michelle Blair, the legal guardian of Sage Blair, a victim of human trafficking. Bill Woolf, former Director of Human Trafficking Programs at the U.S. Department of Justice and current candidate for State Senate, educated the Manassas community members  on human trafficking and its direct impact on the community.

Sage Blair's high profile trafficking case stems from allegations her school hid information from her legal guardians, which they say created a situation where Sage was vulnerable and preyed on by human traffickers. Following her return home, Sage became the inspiration for Sage's Law, a bill that would stop schools from hiding information from parents and stop them from encouraging students to lie to their parents.

Mr. Woolf, who is running to represent Manassas, Manassas Park, and Western Prince William County, spoke alongside Susan Young, whose daughter was a trafficking victim and is the founder of the Parent Coalition to End Human Trafficking, and Laura Hanford, an architect of Sage's Law, a proposed bill that would have prevented the school from encouraging Sage to lie to her legal guardians about issues she was facing. Woolf has pledged to support Sage's Law in Richmond next year and will lead the way on ensuring it passes after having watched the bill fail in the Senate in 2023.

The event, held last Saturday evening in the gymnasium of the Seton School in Manassas, was attended by over 250 people, interested in hearing expert opinions about the vile Human Trafficking issues. Parental involvement in their children's lives and the importance of taking care of behavioral health issues in our youth were major themes of the event. Anti-Trafficking International and Bakhita Kids, two community-based non-profits were in attendance to share educational resources with attendees.

Following the event, Mr. Woolf said, "The growing awareness of human trafficking issues is the first step to solving the problem and protecting the vulnerable in our community. I'm disappointed to see that my opponent, Delegate Danica Roem, led the opposition that ultimately stopped Sage's Law from being codified into law last year. Human Trafficking is not a left vs. right issue. I am ready to sponsor Sage's Law in Richmond next year, and  eager to work with every member of the General Assembly to get it passed and signed into law. Human traffickers benefit when parents are disconnected from their children's lives. In Richmond, I will ensure that our schools are not driving a wedge in the middle of families, and I will fight for our children's right to have their parents involved in their lives."

Congressman Good Update: Holding the Line to Save America

This week, the House Freedom Caucus (HFC) released our position on funding the government past the end of the current fiscal year, or September 30. There is a growing probability that Congress will attempt to pass a short-term continuing resolution, or "CR", in September, which would continue to fund the federal government at the current Democrat levels without any policy changes.

The HFC release stated that we will not agree to a CR without policy wins for the American people, including securing the border, ending the weaponized Department of "Injustice" and FBI, and stopping the woke policies that are weakening our military. You can read the entire release here

The House should do our job and pass our 12 annual appropriations bills to appropriately fund the government, with spending reductions and policy changes that reflect the Republican majority that was elected by the American people. However, we are once again headed down the same path toward one massive, omnibus bill in December, full of more spending and special interest giveaways that will plunge the American people deeper into debt.

The people of the 5th District did not send me to Washington to rubber stamp the same unchecked and irresponsible spending habits of the past. I will not support a short-term spending bill, or CR, that does not include policy wins for the American people. I will not support a full-year spending bill that does not go back to pre-COVID non-defense discretionary spending levels, or implement policy changes that reflect our new Republican majority.

Gary Bauer: Trump's Arrest

I was literally physically sick yesterday watching what the neo-Marxist left is doing to Donald Trump and, by extension, what it is doing to all of us. Trump fought the left harder than president in modern memory, and that's why the neo-Marxist left is so determined to crush him.

If one of the UFOs they talked about during the Fox News debate suddenly took Trump away, the left wouldn't change. It would continue doing everything you see happening now, after it finished celebrating that its toughest opponent was gone.

The neo-Marxists have done many un-American things. They attack parental rights, free speech, religious liberty, the Second Amendment right to protect your family, the right to assemble. The list goes on and on. (See below.)

Now they have done the most dangerous and un-American thing of all. They are waging a coordinated, relentless effort to smear the most popular conservative leader, hoping to put him in jail until he dies.

There is only one answer: Every conservative must redouble our efforts on every front of the battle!

Please stand with me now!

Trump Responds

Donald Trump addressed reporters yesterday at the Atlanta airport after his booking at the Fulton County jail. He said:

"This is a really sad day for America. This should never happen. You should be able to challenge an election. I thought it was a rigged, a stolen election and I should have every right to do. As you know, you have many people you've been watching over the years do the same thing whether it's Hillary Clinton or Stacey Abrams or many others. . .

"What has taken place here is a travesty of justice. We did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong and everybody knows it. . . What they're doing is election inference. . . There's never been anything like it in our country before. This is their way of campaigning."

Trump also returned to Twitter last night, posting, "Election Interference. Never Surrender. DonaldJTrump.com."

Meanwhile, Joe Biden posted this: "Apropos of nothing, I think today's a great day to give to my campaign."

Really? While his thugs are waging lawfare against the man he fears the most, and many Americans are sick over the Rubicon we have just crossed, Demented Joe thinks it's a great day!

EMET is Disappointed in the Biden Administration’s Decision to Ignore Warnings about U.S. Indirect Support for Hamas

(August 24, 2023, Washington, DC) – EMET expresses its deep disappointment in the recent reports showing the Biden administration resumed funding to the Palestinian Authority despite being warned that it may benefit Iranian-backed Hamas. Adam Kredo reported in the Washington Free Beacon that internal documents from the State Department reveal that "the Biden administration pushed through plans to distribute hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer aid to the Palestinians despite internal assessments that those plans could boost the Iran-backed terrorist group Hamas."

State Department officials in 2021 outlined the concerns in private communications, asking the Treasury Department to exempt them from laws that bar the U.S. government from injecting taxpayer aid into territories controlled by Palestinian terror groups. The Biden administration needed this authorization in order to move forward with its plans to unfreeze more than $360 million in U.S. funds for the Palestinian Authority that were cut off during the Trump administration due to the authority's support for terrorism.

"We assess there is a high-risk Hamas could potentially derive indirect, unintentional benefit from U.S. assistance to Gaza. There is less but still, some risk U.S. assistance would benefit other designated groups," the State Department wrote in a draft sanctions exemption request circulated internally in March 2021, shortly after Biden took office.

Notwithstanding the "high risk" assessment that Hamas would benefit from U.S. aid, the Biden administration plowed ahead despite the risks to innocent Israeli lives. Senator Ted Cruz, a staunch supporter of Israel and a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, stated:

"Today's report again confirms that Joe Biden and Biden administration officials are pathologically obsessed with undermining Israel. They made a day-one decision to pour hundreds of millions of American taxpayer dollars into areas controlled by Palestinian terrorists, despite knowing that such actions would benefit terrorist groups that have the blood of Americans and Israelis on their hands. State Department officials knew that doing so risked violating the most basic American laws prohibiting assistance that benefits terrorists, and so they rushed to lawlessly exempt themselves from those restrictions."

This revelation is deeply troubling in light of the rising wave of Palestinian violence in the past few years, which is growing into a new era of terrorism and threatening a new Intifada. The administration's efforts to pump money into the Palestinian Authority didn't just prove ineffectual in stabilizing their rule. Moreover, it may actually have aided the growing terrorism with complete disregard for the safety of innocent lives. In August alone, there have been three terrorist attacks against Israeli citizens, resulting in the deaths of four innocent Jews, bringing the total number of Israelis killed by Palestinian "martyrs" to 24 this year. It is inconceivable that we continue to send U.S. taxpayer dollars to the PA despite the escalation of violence and news that Iranian proxies, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, are operating there. Moreover, these recent revelation reveals the administration was clearly aware that releasing the funds was bound to violate the law.

EMET calls upon the Biden administration to abide by the U.S. law, which, through the Taylor Force Act, bars the U.S. from awarding funds to the Palestinian government until it stops paying salaries to imprisoned terrorists and their families, a policy known as "pay to slay." It is unacceptable that American dollars could casually benefit the enemies of the U.S. and Israel. We call on the administration to halt these payments until the State Department is able to abide by the legal restrictions on the transfer of such assistance.

Says Sarah Stern, Founder and President of EMET, "Palestinian leadership has victimized its own citizens by feeding them propaganda encouraging them to demonize, hate and kill Jews, since even before the modern state of Israel. It is deeply troubling that the Biden administration chose to ignore warnings from the State Department and proceeded with releasing assistance funds to the Palestinian Authority even as it indirectly aids Hamas. Why should American tax payer money reward those who hate Israel and the US? This is not just a disregard of U.S. law but also of the daily violence with which innocent lives are threatened. We call on the U.S. Congress to take active measures ensuring the administration's compliance with legal restrictions on assistance to the Palestinians."

Save the Date: Culpeper DAR Celebration on September 23rd

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union . . ."  These are the opening words of the U.S. Constitution, signed 236 years ago on September 17, 1787.  It is the oldest constitution in the world still in use and lays out our government's framework.

Our Constitution prevents great power being concentrated in a few hands.  It spreads power among the Senate and the House that make the laws, the president who enforces the laws, and the judges who make sure the laws agree with the Constitution  These three branches of government must work together and cannot do each other's jobs.

Citizens can hire or fire officials in the law-making body, congress.  They can hire or fire the president, who is the head of the law-enforcing branch.

Citizens' votes elect the president who nominates judges.  Citizens votes elect senators who either confirm or refuse to confirm the president's judge nominations to the courts.

The states and the federal government balance each other and compete over separate needs and interests.

The Electoral College protects states with few people against powerful states with many people, making sure that a president is elected by all the states, rather than just a few large cities.

These power balances cause the machinery of government to move slowly, allowing time for citizens to think and comment.  They force elected officials to listen, discuss, and compromise.  They have made possible the peaceful transfer of enormous power from one administration to the next.  It protects citizens from upheavals and sudden changes so they can prosper in safety and stability.  There is no better place to build a life than in the United States under this Constitution.

Come celebrate this wise document on Saturday, September 23 at Yowell Meadow Park at 2 p.m.

In 195 President Eisenhower in Proclamation 3151 designated September 17-23 as Constitution Week.

In 2004 Congress designated September 17-23 as Constitution Week.  At that time congress also passed Public Law 108-447, Section 111 requiring educational institutions that receive Federal funds to hold an educational program for the students on September 17 each year and requiring Federal agencies and departments to "provide educational and training materials" concerning the Constitution for employees on September 17 yearly.

Come celebrate the signing of this wise document at Yowell Meadow Park at 2 p.m. on September 23, 2023.

Border Walls Work in Israel, and Would Work in U.S.

August 23, 2023

Up to 99 percent reduction in illegal migration, 95 percent fewer terrorist attacks

WASHINGTON—The Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) has published a report on the border wall system employed by the State of Israel. This report concludes that such a system of physical barriers is essential to meaningful border security and could be effectively used by the United States.

IRLI team members recently toured Israeli border defenses with guides from the Israel Defense Forces and IRLI Senior Fellow Tom Homan, former Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The purpose was to evaluate Israel's border walls and barriers in light of the border crisis in the U.S.

IRLI has now produced a report analyzing the data it collected in Israel. The report's conclusions soundly contradict the spurious notion that "walls don't work."

Numbers released by the Israeli Ministry of the Interior, and cited in the Harvard International Review, indicated approximately 17,000 African migrants crossed the border with Egypt and entered Israel illegally in 2011. After the border wall system was completed that number plummeted to 43.

"This country takes border security seriously," Homan said, referring to Israel, "while the Biden Administration unsecured the most secure border in my lifetime, which has resulted in over 100,000 Americans dying from fentanyl overdoses, 1,700 migrants that've died on U.S. soil, a record number of suspected terrorists across our border."

Israel does not have a monolithic border wall, but a wall/fence system tailored to the different challenges and terrain encountered on each of its borders. The results of that system are impressive and unquestionable. The wall along the West Bank border resulted in a 95 percent reduction in terrorist attacks and a 94 percent reduction in the number of people killed as a result of terrorist attacks. The wall system along the Egyptian border reduced illegal immigration from the Sinai Peninsula into Israel by 99 percent.

While walls exist along the United States' southern border, they only cover about 700 miles of the 1,954-mile border from California to Texas. Despite two acts of Congress to construct a physical barrier—the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act, and the Secure Fence Act in 2006—the illegal immigration lobby has largely succeeded in killing the implementation of the physical barriers that border enforcement professionals say is necessary.

"America doesn't lack the resources to achieve operational control of our southern border, we lack the political will," said Dale L. Wilcox, IRLI's executive director and general counsel. "We discovered in Israel a country faced with a true existential crisis with border security, and they took action to address it. Our country's open border is creating social and financial chaos, a terrorist threat, and imported drugs that are killing our children, yet we don't act to protect our citizens. We can and must do better."

IRLI's report described a physical barrier at the border as "a necessity if our government wishes to meet its obligation to protect the sovereignty and security of the United States of America." In addition to stemming the tide of illegal immigration, it would limit growing threats including drug cartels, human trafficking and international terrorists.

"Israel's comprehensive system of border barriers and crossing points is exactly what border security done correctly should look like," said Matt O'Brien, IRLI's director of investigations. "Israel has border security problems that are very similar to those encountered by the U.S. And the terrain along Israel's borders is remarkably similar to that found along the American border with Mexico. As such, there is absolutely no reason why a system similar to Israel's could not be successfully employed along our southern border."

Parents’ Guide to Countering Woke School Indoctrination

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Public schools have become indoctrination centers.  Many parents panic at the start of the school year because their children, nurtured to have essential values, ethics, respect for others, and belief in God, will be bombarded with woke indoctrination, including transgender ideology, sexualization, Critical Race Theory, and anti-American historical revisionism.  Here is a guide to help parents deprogram children before, and throughout, the school year.

Your child may well be told without your knowledge or consent that his or her gender is fluid, changeable at will.  That indoctrination is false, against basic biology.  It is also child abuse (separating children from their birth genders through psychological manipulation).  You, of course, ordinarily know if your child is a boy or a girl.  To protect your child from being misled into believing the falsehood that genders are fluid, you need to explain the fact that genders are determined at birth and are immutable and that efforts to change them through surgery and drugs never do change gender but do cause permanent, irreparable injuries.  You need to explain that if teachers say genders are fluid, they are lying.  You need to invite your child to tell you whenever a teacher says anything about gender, so you can disabuse them of gender falsehoods.  You may well need to remove your child from public school to prevent irreparable psychological harm stemming from gender fluidity falsehoods.

Your child may well be introduced to sex prematurely again without your knowledge or consent.  Your pre-school or elementary school child may be given access to pornography, including through school libraries; be invited to watch sexually explicit school sponsored drag shows; or be invited to hear the sexual experiences of teachers or others.  That sexualization of innocent children is child abuse.  It is also a form of grooming.  It is criminal in nature.  It should be the subject of prosecution.  It is in flagrant disregard of parents' rights.  It destroys childhood innocence, attacks morals and family values, undermines the nuclear family, and is an offense against the religions of most believers.  You need to warn your child to alert you about any discussions of sex at school and to any attempts to make pornography available.  You need to take action to prevent your child from being sexually victimized, even if that means removing your child from school. This form of psychological abuse can psychologically scar your child forever.

Gary Bauer: America Last

You probably missed this news, but the Biden Administration is putting America last yet again. In their frantic efforts to shut down the terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Biden officials are negotiating plea deals with the 9/11 terrorists, including mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, that avoid the death penalty.

Mohammed attempted a real coup against the United States. He attacked the symbols of America's economic and military strength. The plane that was brought down over the fields of Pennsylvania was likely headed to the Capitol Building, not with the intention of merely disrupting the day's proceedings, but killing hundreds of members of Congress.

September 11th was an effort to decapitate America!

But now we have a government that will spare no expense to throw 70 year-old Trump supporters in jail for far less than what radical leftists did in every major city in the summer of 2020. At the same time, Biden officials are working to ensure that Mohammed is spared the death penalty.

This is the progressive mind at work.

I have a personal interest in this news because Mohammed once smuggled a letter out of prison through his attorney. In that letter, he attacked Christians who support Israel and named four for death. I was one of the four.

Given the double standards of justice we have seen in recent years, I have a feeling that if Mohammed had singled out Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton and George Soros for death, no one in the Biden Administration would be taking the death penalty off the table.

One court victory, one lawsuit pending against UVA Health for firing employees who refused COVID jab on grounds of religious objection

The battle for religious and health freedom is raging in Virginia marked by two lawsuits against UVA Health Medical Center, an affiliate of the University of Virgina (UVA), which mandated that all health care workers get COVID-19 vaccines.

UVA Health ignored the religious objections of hundreds of its employees and fired them for choosing not to be vaccinated, despite the fact that the university's vaccination policy allows for exemptions for medical or religious reasons.

VAMFA members packed the US District Courthouse in Charlottesville on July 24 to support the eleven named plaintiffs in a federal case known as UVA-37 ( Phillips et al v. Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia et al), which seeks class-action status so that the court can award legal remedy to all of the UVA Health employees who were fired.

Lawyers for the plaintiffs requested an injunction against UVA to prevent any further vaccine mandates. Lawyers for UVA requested that the case be dismissed.

On August 8 Judge Robert S. Ballou declined the injunction but has not yet ruled on dismissal.

Attorney Sam Diehl of CrossCastle PLLC representing the plaintiffs said, "It is unlikely that Judge Ballou will dismiss our case, which will allow us to proceed. I'm optimistic that UVA employees will prevail."

Meanwhile, a victory was scored on July 27 in a similar case ( McCoy v. Rector & Visitors UVA/UVA Health System) in the Sixteenth Judicial Court in Virginia when Judge Claude Worrell ruled that Kaycee McCoy was wrongfully denied a religious exemption and ordered UVA to reverse its firing decision.  The Court further ordered UVA to pay damages in the amount of McCoy's salary from the date of her firing.

Judge Worrell determined that the university stepped legally out of bounds by playing judge as to whether McCoy's religious objection was sincere. In his opinion, he wrote, "…here, we have essentially a religious test that is being applied to determine sincerity of belief, and that is violative of the separation of church and state…." Read more here.

A victory in both cases would force employers to refrain from second-guessing religious objections to vaccination and to simply honor them instead.

Violent Crime up 70% as 2023 on Track to be Deadliest Year in County History

MANASSAS, VIRGINIA – Prince William County candidate for Commonwealth Attorney, Matt Lowery, along with county supervisors Jeanine Lawson and Yesli Vega will be holding a press conference Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 at the Prince William County Courthouse to address the significant increase in homicides and other crimes occurring in Prince William County.

WHAT: PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSING MAJOR CRIME INCREASE IN PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY

WHEN: TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2023, 12:30PM

WHERE: PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 9311 LEE AVENUE, MANASSAS, VIRGINIA

Since 2019, violent crime, defined by the Virginia State Police and FBI, and adopted by the Prince William County Police Department, has increased by 70%. Last year, homicides in the County doubled and have increased by 150% since 2020. To date the number of homicides committed in the county this year stands at 18 and is on pace to easily become the deadliest year in Prince William County's history.

The overall crime rate and violent crime rate had fallen for decades under the leadership of longtime Commonwealth Attorney, Paul Ebert. Since his retirement in 2019, violent crime has increased by 70% as the results of poor prosecution policy, reductions in the percentage of the county budget allocated to police, and a dwindling number of police officers have taken hold.

As violent crime has increased by 70%, the number of felony indictments in the county have fallen by a similar percentage, while the current sworn police force is more than three-hundred officers shy of the county's own level-of-service-standards as outlined in the county's own comprehensive plan. Notably, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors have not allocated funding for any additional police officers in the last two budget cycles, despite the known increases in crime, and record tax revenue.

Lowery, a longtime county resident and prosecutor, Vega, a law enforcement officer with experience in three Northern Virginia agencies, and Lawson, a mother and longtime member of the Board, will be addressing these issues and demanding changes in policy to protect Prince William County's residents.

Jonathan Emord: Campaign to Save America

"I appreciate the many concerns expressed to me about woke policies in Virginia schools and have a well-developed legislative program to end those policies by making the transitioning of youth a federal felony; by making Critical Race Theory indoctrination, segregation, and race-based admissions policies illegal through federal enforcement of the Equal Protection Clause of the United States Constitution, and by making entry of biological males into girls and women's bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports teams illegal through the amendment of Title IX of the Civil Rights Act."
