EMET Statement on Former Iranian Majles Member’s Admission of Bomb Aspirations

(April 27, 2022—Washington, DC) Former Majles (Iranian Parliament) member Ali Motahari made it clear in a Monday Iranian Television (ISCA) interview that Iran's original intent for its nuclear activity was not for peaceful purposes, but to build a bomb.

"With regard to what we started... If we could have kept it [a secret] until we performed a [nuclear] test, then it would have been a done deal. Like in Pakistan," Motahari said, according to a MEMRI translation.

Motahari then went on to argue, "they would have taken us into consideration even more," with a nuclear bomb and that Iran "should have proceeded to the threshold."

EMET implores the Biden administration to stop nuclear negotiations at once and renew sanctions against Iran, which is no longer even pretending that its nuclear capabilities are for "peaceful" purposes.

A State Department report released last week clearly demonstrates that Iran has been rebuffing International Atomic Energy Administration Inspectors from at least four suspicious nuclear sites.

The Institute for Science and International Security issued a report on April 11th indicating Iran already has 40 to 42 kilograms of highly enriched uranium at 60%, which it states "with this quantity, an enrichment level of 60 percent suffices to create a relatively compact nuclear explosive; further enrichment to 80 or 90 percent is not needed."

Israel has stated this repeatedly and proven it in the stunning raid the Mossad carried out in Tehran in January 2018, when they absconded with 50,000 pages of documents, proving that the Islamic Republic had clearly been working on a nuclear bomb all along

Diplomacy has clearly failed and the US has already given Iran much more than Iran could have ever imagined without receiving anything in return. Russian envoy Mikhail Ulyanov has states as much on a YouTube video where he gloats about the degree of concessions that he and his Chinese colleague were able to extract from America.

EMET wishes to thank, once again, the 18 House Democrats led by Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ) who stood against the Iran deal, the more than 160 House Republicans led by Rep. Michael Gallagher (Wisc.), as well as 49 Republican Senators led by Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator James Risch and Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator James Inhofe.

Said EMET Founder and President Sarah Stern, "It is clear from former Majles member Ali Motahari's statement, from the stonewalling of the IAEA's inspectors, from the vast quantities of highly enriched uranium that far exceed the 3.65% level that was proscribed by the JCPOA, that Iran's intentions have never been peaceful."

On December 24th, Iran sent out 16 surface-to-surface ballistic missiles in war games with a mock Israeli nuclear facility as its target. Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander  Hussein Salami said it was "a clear warning" to the Zionist regime and if Israel makes any move, "we will cut off its hands."

Ms. Stern continues, "The last seven years has taught us that Iran cannot be contained or induced by lavish financial packages. This is a brutal theocracy with hegemonic ambitions. The money we release into their coffers as an inducement to sign a deal will not be used to benefit people on the street, but to build more bombs and missiles and for their terror proxies around the globe.

Ms. Stern adds, "What is deeply and profoundly troubling to me is how Iran's nuclear behavior and their malign behavior in the region and the world has not been given the media attention it deserves. Equally disturbing is how the Biden administration does not seem to recognize the real and present danger of the Iranian nuclear threat, not only to Israel and the Gulf, but because of  Hezbollah cells within our own country as well as the very strong presence of Hezbollah in Latin America, to the United States as well."

Biden's Policies Fueled One Million New Illegal Aliens and Added Nearly $10 Billion in Costs During his First Year in Office, Finds New FAIR Study

(April 27 2022, Washington, D.C.) — A new analysis by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) finds that during the first year of the Biden administration, the illegal alien population of the United States has increased by about 1 million, adding an additional $9.4 billion in costs to American taxpayers. In total, some 15.5 million illegal aliens now reside in the United States, while costs of providing taxpayer-funded services and benefits to illegal aliens and their U.S.-born children now stands at $143.1 billion a year. These staggering increases in both the size of the illegal alien population and the cost to the American public are a direct result of policies put in place since President Biden took office, concludes the report.

The report, 2021 Update: How Many Illegal Aliens Live in the United States?, reveals how a slew of policy changes both at the border and in the interior of the country propelled rapid surges in both the magnitude and the costs of illegal immigration. Specifically, upon taking office, the Biden administration canceled agreements with Mexico and governments in Central America, and terminated border wall construction. These policies were effectively deterring new illegal immigration before President Biden came to office, and allowed for the expedited return of most of those caught entering the country illegally.

Similarly, the administration abandoned nearly all immigration enforcement in the interior of the country, resulting in record low numbers of illegal aliens who were removed from the country. Under these policies, which directly defy federal laws, nearly all illegal aliens in the U.S. are off-limits to apprehension by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is also severely constrained in where they can arrest even the small segment of the illegal population still subject to removal.

"President Biden and the people he appointed to key positions in his administration have pursued the most radical open-borders policies in the history of any sovereign nation, and these new numbers bear that out," stated Dan Stein, president of FAIR. "If not for the COVID pandemic, which forced the administration to keep Title 42 in place last year, the additional influx and costs to American taxpayers would have been far greater.

"Rather than reinstate effective border and interior enforcement policies, the administration is doubling down on its ruinous open-border policies and is set to end Title 42 on May 23. These new illegal alien population and cost estimates by FAIR, and the imminent removal of the last effective border enforcement mechanism, leave no doubt that unchecked illegal immigration and staggering cost burdens to the American public are the explicit goals of the Biden administration," Stein concluded.

FAIR's new estimates of the illegal alien population are based on analysis of relevant information available from the Census Bureau's 2020 and 2021 data.

FAIR Applauds Court Order Blocking the Biden Administration from Inflicting Further Grievous Harm at the Border

(April 25, 2022, Washington, D.C.) — The following statement was issued by Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) in response to an impending Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) preventing the Biden administration from ending Title 42:

"Today U.S. District Judge Robert R. Summerhays agreed with 21 states that the Biden administration's impending cancelation of Title 42 would cause significant and irreparable harm to state and local jurisdictions.

"The assertion by the states of what would likely happen if Title 42 were lifted was not even contested by the Biden administration. The administration has, in fact, assembled a multiagency task force to manage what they anticipate to be an unprecedented surge of migrants crossing our borders illegally after May 23.

"We applaud the attorneys general of Missouri, Louisiana, and Arizona for originally filing this lawsuit and adding 18 states shortly thereafter. When the federal government does not fulfill its border security responsibilities, states are compelled to take legal action to protect their residents. They acted not only in the best interest of their residents, but the health and well-being of the American public overall.

"From a purely public health perspective, Title 42 is still urgently needed. Not only is the national emergency declaration still in place, a new strain of COVID currently has the city of Shanghai, China under lockdown, while the flow of deadly fentanyl across the already lawless border has been acknowledged as a public health threat by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

"The White House should view Judge Summerhays' TRO as a reprieve from an even bigger self-inflicted national health and security crisis, and to use it as an opportunity to reinstate effective policies that will restore order to what is already a dangerously chaotic border."

FRC's Perkins and 31 Other Pro-Family Leaders Sign Letter Urging 'Bold Strategy To Protect Unborn Life'

April 28, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A coalition of 32 pro-family policy council leaders, including Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, sent a letter today to House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik urging that any commitment made to America as the nation awaits the U.S. Supreme Court's impending decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization "must include a bold strategy to protect unborn life."

The letter reads, in part:

"We, the undersigned, represent hundreds of thousands of Americans across the states who care deeply about the issues of life, family, and religious freedom. Although each of these issues is vitally important, the prospect of seeing Roe v. Wade undermined or overturned and the momentum currently behind the pro-life movement is unlike any we have seen before. Therefore, as Republican leadership readies its conservative agenda for the next year, we urge you to ensure that any commitment to America includes a bold, clear, and articulate plan to protect the most vulnerable among us, the unborn.

"There has never been a better time to protect life. Americans support the pro-life policies we have worked to enact in the states by large margins. A majority of Americans support prohibiting taxpayer funding for abortion, requiring clear health and safety standards for chemical abortion, providing immediate medical care for infants who survive abortion, and protecting unborn children from the horrors of abortion as early as the first trimester.

"Even if the Supreme Court overturns Roe this year, a strong congressional plan to protect unborn life will be needed. Current public polling trends and the recent state-level legislative successes indicate that congressional leaders would be wise to lean into the pro-life issue, not shy away from it. Our states need members of Congress who will speak on behalf of the unborn, hold votes on strong pro-life legislation, and push back against the Biden administration's extreme pro-abortion policies. We stand ready to support you in these efforts," the letter concludes.

NRCC Announces Crystal Vanuch as "On the Radar" Candidate in Young Guns Program

April 28, 2022

Stafford, VA – The National Republican Congressional Committee today announced Crystal Vanuch as an "On the Radar" candidate as part of the Young Guns program. Led by Leader Kevin McCarthy, the Young Guns program is designed to highlight top tier candidates across the country and equip them with tools and skills needed to run a successful campaign.

"Quality candidates from all across the country are stepping up to help Republicans make history and take back the House," said Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy. "With their help, we are going to fire Nancy Pelosi and hold the Biden Administration accountable for its record of failure and incompetence."

"I am excited and grateful to be named "On the Radar" in the Young Guns program," said Crystal Vanuch. "This recognition is a sign that our campaign is firing on all cylinders and we are on track to retire Nancy Pelosi and Abigail Spanberger in November. Virginia families recognize that one-party control is failing America and leading to record inflation and instability. I look forward to sharing my conservative message with voters across the 7th Congressional district as we look to win this seat and help Republicans regain the majority."

Born in Prince William County, raised in Stafford county, Crystal has ties to over 56% of the district. A fighter with a proven conservative voting record as Chairman of the Board of County Supervisors in Stafford County, she epitomizes the principles of the Young Guns program. Crystal's constituents have praised her ability to deliver results like securing funding and pay raises for law enforcement, defending our Second Amendment rights, and standing with parents to stop CRT from being taught in Stafford schools.

In 2020, 25 Young Guns were elected to Congress. Since its founding, the Young Guns program has helped to elect over 150 members of Congress. Proudly receiving this announcement, Crystal plans to secure the Republican nomination for Virginia's 7th Congressional District on June 21st and will go on to victory against Abigail Spanberger on November 8th and fire Pelosi once and for all.

Bryce Reeves Joins NRCC Young Guns Program

Fredericksburg, VA - April 28th, 2022 - Today the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced that Bryce Reeves, running in Virginia's 7th Congressional District, has become an "On the Radar" candidate in their Young Guns program. This follows last week's change in rating for the race, from the Cook Report, who shifted the district from Lean Democrat to Toss Up, while highlighting Bryce Reeves' front runner status.

Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said: "Quality candidates from all across the country are stepping up to help Republicans make history and take back the House. With their help, we are going to fire Nancy Pelosi and hold the Biden Administration accountable for its record of failure and incompetence."

Bryce Reeves said: "The momentum surrounding this campaign is soaring. I want to thank Leader McCarthy for recognizing that. When I won re-election in 2019 I was outspent 5 to 1 in a Democrat district. This is another boost to our confidence to know that we will be getting national support in our race against Abigail Spanberger this year, who has been taking in gigantic amounts of special interest money to try and hold onto a district she now lives 70 miles outside of."

Bryce Reeves has had a highly successful fundraising campaign thus far, having exceeded all his goals and raising well over half a million dollars. He has also gotten political support at all levels, with endorsements from local activists all the way up to Senators and members of President Trump's Cabinet. These include U.S. Senators Marco Rubio and Mike Lee, former Governor and Senator George Allen, former Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, former Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette, former ICE Director Tom Homan, as well as members of the General Assembly and Sheriffs from across the 7th District.

FAIR: Biden Public Charge Rule Sticks it to American Taxpayers and a Governing Principle that Predates our Republic

(April 26, 2022, Washington, D.C.) — In response to a request for public input on how the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) should apply the public charge ground of inadmissibility, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) submitted a comment yesterday.

"Public charge restrictions have been around for over a century and the principle that immigrants be self-sufficient predates our Republic," said Dan Stein, president of FAIR. "Immigrants must not depend on taxpayer-funded public benefits to meet their needs."

"Congress has acted to ensure that immigrants rely on their own capabilities and the resources of their families, sponsors, and private organizations, and that the availability of public benefits not create an incentive for immigration to the United States," Stein noted. "Indeed, as recently as 1996, Congress clearly declared that self-sufficiency has been a basic principle of United States immigration law since this country's earliest immigration statutes and that it should continue to be a governing principle in the United States."

In a sternly-worded, thorough public comment, FAIR recommends that DHS reform the Public Charge Ground of Inadmissibility rule to require U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officers to consider all means-tested public benefits provided by Federal, State, Tribal, territorial, and local government agencies when evaluating whether an alien is likely to become a public charge. DHS should further strengthen the rule by:

  • Requiring officers to consider an alien's receipt of public benefits regardless of the alien's immigration status;
  • Requiring officers to include the receipt of benefits by an alien's dependents;
  • Placing weight on factors, such as education and income levels, that are proven to be reliable indicators of an alien's likelihood of becoming a public charge;
  • Ensuring officers have no administrative incentives to issue positive or negative public charge determinations;
  • Ensuring the submission of sufficient affidavits of financial support; and
  • Applying public charge requirements to extension of stay and change of status requests.

"These changes will not only strengthen the integrity of our immigration system and ensure that immigrants are self-sufficient, but protect taxpayers and vulnerable Americans who depend on the availability of safety-net public benefits," Stein concluded.

Delegate Rob Bell: Update

During his campaign, Governor Youngkin pledged to promote school safety and give parents more of a voice in educational decisions. Working with the House and Senate, Governor Youngkin has kept these promises by signing the following bills into law:

  • SB 656: Will require schools to notify parents when a school assignment includes sexually explicit content and will allow parents to review it and request an alternative assignment. A summary article is here. (A similar bill was previously vetoed by Governor McAuliffe, who later remarked in debate "I don't think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.")
  • HB 4: Will require schools to report crimes like sexual battery and stalking to law enforcement. This law will reverse the worst parts of a bill that was passed over Republican objections in 2020 when Democrats were in the majority.
  • HB741: This was my school safety bill, and will require each school to prepare a detailed floor plan for use by responders in the event of an emergency.

In addition to the above, Governor Youngkin has released his vetoes and proposed amendments for all the other bills that passed. The General Assembly will take these up at our "reconvene session," which is scheduled for April 27.

Sincerely,

Rob Bell

PS: On a different note, I was pleased that Governor Youngkin signed my House Bill 1350 and the other "beagle bills" that were passed to address violations by commercial breeders in Virginia. (If you are interested in adopting one of the  beagles, you can call Senator Stanley's office at (540) 721-6028.)
