Media Bias Blowout

By Gary Bauer

In yesterday's report I wrote about the left-wing media's role in dividing the country.  Contrary to Jim Acosta's pontificating, many reporters these days are not true journalists in the sense that they do not impartially report facts.

And with the rise of Donald Trump, many reporters gleefully dropped the charade of objectivity.  The New York Times acknowledged the media's anti-Trump resistance with an August 2016 column entitled, "Trump Is Testing the Norms of Objectivity In Journalism."

Well, with its latest hire of Sarah Jeong as a member of its editorial board, it seems the Times has abandoned common decency too.

Jeong's Twitter feed is littered with bigoted rants against white people.  [WARNING: Graphic Language.]  I'll share just one from November 2014:

"Dumba** f***ing white people marking up the internet with their opinions like dogs p*ssing on fire hydrants."

It would have been amazing if the New York Times had not done its due diligence before it hired Jeong.  But it quickly issued a statement defending her.

In fact, the Times admits that it was well aware of her social media history.  And they hired her anyway because she was just defending herself from online "harassment" and criticism.

That excuse doesn't pass the straight face test.  Jeong has also tweeted lots of disgusting anti-police rants too.  (I seriously doubt cops were trolling her.)  And still the New York Times hired her.

Martin Luther King, Jr., must be rolling over in his grave!

Why are forces on the left trying so desperately to divide us over what matters the least -- the pigment of our skin?  It was Dr. King's dream, and one I believe most Americans share, that we judge one another not by the color of our skin, but by the content of our character.

Every civil rights group should denounce the hiring of Jeong.  Racism of any kind is wrong, and it should be rejected by all people of goodwill.

Here's the good news.  The left's race-baiting may no longer be working.

The latest Rasmussen poll finds that Trump's support among black Americans has risen from 15% last year to 29% now.  His support among Hispanics is rising too.

100 Days to Defy History

Week of July 30, 2018

With the midterm elections less than 100 days away, Republicans are primed to defy history by holding both the House and the Senate. The grass-roots efforts of Republican women and other activists will be key. Now is the time to connect with local campaigns so you and your club are ready to put boots-on-the-ground in September. Watch for National Days of Action and Republican Leadership Initiative (RLI) trainings in your area.

Whether you are on the campaign trail or just talking to family, friends, and neighbors, remind them the U.S. is reaping the rewards of Republican pro-growth policies, including tax relief and regulatory relief.
  • The economy grew 4.1 percent in the second quarter of 2018 – the largest single-quarter growth in four years.
  • With disposable income up 3.5 percent and 1.2 million new jobs since tax relief, Americans report their highest level of economic confidence in 14 years.
  • Unemployment dipped to 3.9 percent, near an 18-year low, and under President Trump, unemployment among women dropped to its lowest point in 17 years.

The facts on Russia and election security

The White House
1600 Daily
August 3, 2018
The media talks a lot about Russian meddling and election security, but they don’t talk much about what President Trump is actually doing to confront it. Here are just a few of his Administration’s recent actions to protect the integrity of our elections:
The President chaired National Security Council meetings on May 3 and July 27 to coordinate his whole-of-government approach to election security.
In March 2018, the Administration imposed sanctions against 16 Russian entities and individuals for their roles in interference in the 2016 election.
The Department of Homeland Security is working with all 50 states, local governments, and the private sector to bolster defense against cyber operations targeting voting.
The Administration provided on-site cybersecurity support to states during the 2017 elections.
The Justice Department and FBI continue to investigate and disrupt any threats to election systems, while alerting potential victims and targets.

Sunshine and Wind are Free... They Just need Your Subsidy

Solar Power Is Harming Taxpayers & Consumers

The federal government subsidizes solar energy much more generously than other sources of electricity.  According to a study by the University of Texas at Austin, the coal industry received federal subsidies of $1.06 per megawatt hour in 2016; the oil and natural gas industry received federal subsidies of $0.91 per megawatt hour; the nuclear industry received federal subsidies of $1.30 per megawatt hour; and the wind industry received federal subsidies of $12.74 per megawatt hour while the solar industry received federal subsidies of $61.31 per megawatt hour.

 Solar, wind and greed

Wind and solar power are the welfare dependents of the energy world.

Every turbine and panel that goes up raises the cost of electricity for the community it (allegedly) serves.

Take a look at this hard-hitting editorial at CFACT.org that reveals the hypocrisy of the wind and solar crowd. They cash in on the mandates, subsidies and feed-in tariffs, without which not a single one would be built.  Then they lump themselves in with highly efficient natural gas to bury their true costs.  Then these companies use politicians to block efficient coal, oil and nuclear and even the natural gas that is powering America's genuine energy revolution.

Last winter Boston had to resort to a Russian natural gas tanker to keep the lights and heat on after Big Green politics blocked bringing in American gas via pipeline.

It's time to cut out the subsidies and mandates and force wind and solar to compete in a free and fair market.

Of course, competing in a free and open marketplace might well spell their doom.  They know this, which is why they demand Big Government go to bat for them -- a much easier course of action than having to actually prove themselves worthy of the mega-dollars they rake in.

Email of the Day: The Salty Sailor

The views this mother has about Donald Trump are much like many others.  Her characterization of Trump as the "Salty Sailor.”    She has written many great books about her son and family...

Comment from KAREN VAUGHN, mother of Aaron Vaughn, Navy Seal, killed during operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan on Aug. 6, 2011 when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter in which he was riding was shot down.
                   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Salty Sailor
 "Sometimes God uses the no-nonsense, salty sailor to get the job done.  Appreciating what the man is doing doesn't mean we worship the salty sailor or even desire to be like the salty sailor.  It doesn't even mean God admires the salty sailor.  Maybe He just knows he's necessary for such a time as this.  I believe with all my heart that God placed that salty sailor in the White House and gave this nation one more chance in November 2016.
Donald Trump is what he is.  He is still the man he was before the election.  And without guilt, I very much admire what that salty sailor is accomplishing.  He's not like me.  That's okay with me.  I don't want to be like him.  I will never behave like him. I know we've NEVER had a man like him lead our nation. It's crazy and a little mind blowing at times.  But I can’t help admire the ability he has to act with his heart rather than a calculated, PC, think tank-screened, carefully edited script.
 I still believe that is WHY he became our President and WHY he's been able to handle a landslide of adversity and STILL pass unprecedented amounts of good legislation for our country AND do great works for MANY other nations, including Israel.  I'm THRILLED with what he's doing for my nation, for the cause of Christ (whether intentional or unintentional, doesn't matter to me), and for the concept of rebuilding America and putting her FIRST.  I will not be ashamed of my position because others don't see him through the same lens.
Should it matter to me if a fireman drops an f-bomb while he's pulling me from a burning building?  Would I really care about what came out of his mouth in those moments?  Heck no!  I'd CARE about what he was DOING.  He wasn't sent there to save my soul and I'm not looking to him for spiritual guidance.  All I'm thinking in those moments is, "Thank you, Jesus, for sending the fireman."
  This man is crass.  Okay. He's not careful with what he says.  Okay. You feel offended that he's not a typical statesman. Okay.  But he is rebuilding the nation my son died for...the nation I feared was on a fast track to becoming a hopeless cause.      Forgive me if I'm smiling.
Quote of the Day
''This week, I was invited to the White House to attend a roundtable with President Trump and other faith and community leaders. It was sponsored by the White House Office of American Innovation, and the subject was urban communities.
"I cannot tell you how exciting it was to see the energy and commitment to change in that room. We spoke about prison reform and the issues affecting African Americans in the inner city. There was talk about funding and initiatives that would help the black community.
"Coming from the president who has overseen the best African American employment rates on record, it was very promising. At the meeting, I even told President Trump that I am, "with him 100%." I support his efforts to address the challenges faced by the black community and his stand on religious freedom.
"After the president's attention to inner city problems, his pro-life initiatives, and his record of appointing conservative judges, how could I say anything else?
At the White House...
PASTOR’S PRAISE: At a meeting with inner city pastors, Darrell Scott of Ohio tells Trump he is “the most pro-black president” is recent history who “actually wants to prove something to our community.” “The last president didn’t feel like he had to,” Scott told the President. pic.twitter.com/gyFJNN71Qg
"My comment of support for the president has already gotten negative attention on social media ... and I don't care one bit.
"The Left wants to put black people on a political plantation. Anyone who dares to criticize their policies or leave the Democratic Party is belittled, mocked, and insulted."
Sen. Lindsey Graham Joins Tony Perkins on the Radio to Discuss Sanctions on Turkish Officials Involved in Pastor Brunson Case
August 3, 2018
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Yesterday, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) appeared on Washington Watch with Tony Perkins, a national radio show which airs on more than 240 stations across the country. On the show, Sen. Graham weighed in on the Trump administration's sanctions imposed on Turkish officials who were involved in the arrest and imprisonment of American Pastor Andrew Brunson. After nearly two years in prison, the pastor was released last week to house arrest.
Senator Graham commented, "Pastor Brunson, I saw him in jail in Izmir. And a couple weeks later they let him out and he's at home now in Izmir, Turkey, and I appreciate that step. He's a wonderful man, committed to his faith. He was a pastor of a church for about 50 or 60 people. He no more wanted to overthrow the government of Turkey than I could be in the NBA. He got caught up in something not of his making. He's been in jail way to long. He is not an enemy of the Turkish people or the state of Turkey." Sen. Graham continued, "I want to tell your listeners who have prayed dutifully and passionately on behalf of Pastor Brunson, we're going to get a good outcome sooner rather than later."
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, and host of Washington Watch, added, "Continue to pray for Pastor Brunson. I did talk to the Secretary of State earlier this week about the case. This is a focal point, the administration is focusing very intently on it and the Secretary of State is taking the lead. But, we need to continue to pray."
