Attorney General Miyares was hard at work this week fighting for Virginians.

Last week AG Miyares released an AG Opinion requested by the Governor's Office addressing the CDC's recommendation on required COVID-19 vaccinations for Virginia schools. Council members will vote on whether or not to extend the compliance deadline for the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for students until the 2023-2024 school year. The law currently in place requires children age 12 and older to be vaccinated before the January 3rd deadline in order to remain in school. COVID-19 shots are not only unnecessary for children, but are dangerous and can cause serious injuries and death. It is time to end this mandate for good and give parents the ability to decide whether or not to give these shots to their children without coercion.   The Council passed legislation in October 2021 that required the COVID-19 vaccinations for all students age 12 and older within 70 days of the shots receiving full authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in order to remain in school.  In an effort to avoid a mass exodus from the public school system due to poor COVID-19 vaccine uptake, DC's Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn sent a letter in August notifying public school leaders that the the enforcement deadline for students ages 12 - 17 had been pushed back to January 3rd, 2023. It should be noted that DC Councilmember Christina Henderson introduced the COVID-19 vaccine mandate bill last year. In a curious turn of events, she is now proposing the new legislation to delay the mandate until the 2023/2024 school year and has further stated that she supports revisiting the mandate and determining whether a mandate should exist at all based on the evolving science that has come to light. In Case You Missed It My Interview on NEWSMAX Friday, October 28th

I recently announced plans to introduce legislation called the Save Adolescents From Experimentation (SAFE) Act to protect children from medicalized gender transitions. In an interview on the John Fredericks Show, I accused the "woke extreme left" of promoting the mutilation of children, stating that this is a form of child abuse that cannot be allowed to happen in Virginia. 10 years ago, if you had said that we're going to chop off the body parts of our kids, you would be put in jail. You would be sent to a mental health facility. The legislation I intend to introduce will be a version of the Save Adolescents From Experimentation (SAFE) Act first introduced in Arkansas in 2021 to ban "gender-affirming" medical procedures for those under 18. There are 21 more states that have since introduced similar bills aimed at protecting minors from undergoing irreversible medical treatments before they are even old enough to consent to getting a tattoo. I believe once young people reach age 18 and are considered adults, they can make the decision to medically alter their bodies, but US lawmakers may wish to look to the example set by Finland in 2020. While the Finnish guidelines also banned gender surgeries for those under 18, they went a step further and advised extreme caution when providing any irreversible "gender-affirming" treatments for anyone under age 25, given that the brain doesn't finish maturing until that age.  The woke extreme is trying to promote dysfunctional behavior in our kids using propaganda in K-5 schools. I think this is about destroying the very fabric of America …this globalist left extreme agenda wants to destroy America from the inside out and they're doing through our kids. Parents across all areas of the political spectrum believe that this has now gone too far. We're going to make sure that we protect all of Virginia's children, that we're not going to be mutilating children in Virginia.

Honoring Our Veterans 

This week I hosted my fifth Vietnam Veterans Pinning Ceremony, recognizing 14 more veterans and their families in Campbell County. These ceremonies serve as a heartfelt reminder of the bravery these men and women displayed in serving the United States. Our veterans' patriotism and dedication to the greatest country in the world are deeply inspiring.

I am proud to partner with the Vietnam War Commemoration to honor our Vietnam-era Veterans throughout Virginia's 5th District. To date, we have honored over 150 veterans with a pin and certificate of recognition for their service to our great nation. My team will be organizing more of these pinning ceremonies across the 5th District. I also had the distinct honor of presenting Mary Anne Wilmouth the medals earned by her late father, World War II veteran Gerald T. Ryan. We presented her the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, Rifleman's Badge, and Honorable Service Lapel Button; all of which her father earned in courageous service to his nation.

The trans supremacy movement and the politicians enabling it increasingly look like fascists. Joe Biden, who accused conservatives of being semi-fascists, is promoting a movement that routinely uses fascist tactics. 

If there is an event where people are demonstrating against the demands of the radical trans supremacy movement, thugs may assault them. If you speak the truth and say a man is really a man and not a woman, you will be censored on social media. 

If you object to a biological boy in the girls' bathroom or locker room, you may be suspended from school or lose your job. 

That's exactly what happened to Blake Allen and her father, Travis, after Blake complained about a "trans girl" in her school locker room. 

Blake was suspended, told to participate in a "restorative justice circle" and write a letter of apology to the confused boy. Her father was suspended from his job as a school soccer coach for "misgendering" the boy in a social media post.

In normal times, any president of the United States would be speaking out against this insanity. But these are not normal times. 

Instead, Joe Biden is putting the full weight of the federal government against normalcy, against Christian schools, against Catholic hospitals and against business owners who do not bow to this nonsense. 

Truth and normalcy are on the ballot this November.   

Virtually every Democrat at every level -- from the U.S. Senate to your local school board -- is all in on this insanity. Virtually every Republican opposes it.

And if the issue had greater visibility in the elections, Democrats would lose in a landslide.

2.4 million illegal border crossers released into U.S. over last 18 months

Border Patrol agents made 207,597 apprehensions in September, according to data released this week by the Department of Homeland Security.

With the fiscal year ending on September 30, the final tally for border apprehensions along the Southwest border exceeded 2.2 million in FY2022. In addition, CBP encountered 172,508 individuals at ports of entry who did not have authorization to enter the United States.

To compare, until FY2022, Border Patrol had never made more than 1.7 million apprehensions over a single fiscal year since they began recording the statistic in 1925. The Biden Administration nearly matched that number over the final eight months of FY2021 and exceeded it in FY2022. The total number of Southwest border apprehensions since Pres. Biden took office is more than 3.8 million.

Summer slowdown ended last month

While border apprehensions dipped a bit over the summer months, they were back on the rise in September. Border Patrol agents made nearly 26,000 more apprehensions in September than they did in August. September was the third highest month for apprehensions recorded by the Biden Administration.

Single adults accounted for most of last month's increase and accounted for 73% of the month's total apprehensions, making it hard to argue that the border surge is driven mostly by families and unaccompanied minors who are seeking humanitarian relief. The data make it clear that most illegal border crossings are single adults likely coming for jobs in the United States.

Of last month's illegal border crossers, more than 105,000 were released into the interior of the United States by the feds, according to Art Arthur, a Fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies and former immigration judge. According to Arthur, 95,000 were given "parole," allowing them to receive an Employment Authorization Document to legally work in the U.S.

Closing border loopholes

Approximately 2.4 million illegal border crossers have been released into the interior of the U.S. since Pres. Biden took office, according to Arthur. Those 2.4 million are in addition to the 1.1 million green cards issued each year and foreign guest worker admissions.

Earlier this year, NumbersUSA joined a coalition of groups that support stricter border enforcement in sending a letter to GOP House Leadership, listing the needed reforms to end the border crisis and future border surges.

The list included putting an end to this administration's (and future administrations') abuse of parole. Additionally, we recommended strengthening credible fear to more closely align with asylum, and mandatory detention for illegal border crossers, among others. Many of the recommendations were included in the GOP's blueprint to secure the border and their Commitment to America. We're hopeful that, should Republicans win control of the House after the midterm elections, they'll follow through with legislation that would end border surges once and for all.
