This week, the House Freedom Caucus (HFC) released our position on funding the government past the end of the current fiscal year, or September 30. There is a growing probability that Congress will attempt to pass a short-term continuing resolution, or "CR", in September, which would continue to fund the federal government at the current Democrat levels without any policy changes.
The HFC release stated that we will not agree to a CR without policy wins for the American people, including securing the border, ending the weaponized Department of "Injustice" and FBI, and stopping the woke policies that are weakening our military. You can read the entire release here.
The House should do our job and pass our 12 annual appropriations bills to appropriately fund the government, with spending reductions and policy changes that reflect the Republican majority that was elected by the American people. However, we are once again headed down the same path toward one massive, omnibus bill in December, full of more spending and special interest giveaways that will plunge the American people deeper into debt.
The people of the 5th District did not send me to Washington to rubber stamp the same unchecked and irresponsible spending habits of the past. I will not support a short-term spending bill, or CR, that does not include policy wins for the American people. I will not support a full-year spending bill that does not go back to pre-COVID non-defense discretionary spending levels, or implement policy changes that reflect our new Republican majority.
