March 29: Rappahannock County Republican Party Mass Meeting

OFFICIAL CALL:  MASS MEETING

Rappahannock County Republican Party

Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 7:00 PM

As Chairman of the Rappahannock County Committee of the Republican Party, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Terry Dixon, do hereby issue this Call for a Mass Meeting to be held at the Rappahannock County Court House in Washington, Virginia, beginning at 7:00 PM local time on Thursday, March 29, 2012 for the following purposes:

1.    To elect a Unit Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, at-large members, and any other officers voted upon at the Mass Meeting, all to serve for a term of office of two years and/or until their successors have been elected and qualified, and to transact any other business which may properly come before the Mass Meeting.

2.    To elect Delegates and Alternates who will cast Delegate votes to represent Rappahannock County at the Quadrennial District Convention of the Fifth Congressional District of the Republican Party of Virginia to be held at Johns Auditorium, Hampden-Sydney College, Hampden-Sydney, VA, or an alternate site if necessary, beginning with 9:30 AM Registration, and meeting at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, May 19, 2012, for the following purposes:

(a) Electing a District Chairman of the Republican Party;
(b) Electing three Representatives of the Fifth District to the
      Republican Party of the Virginia State Central Committee;
(c) Electing three Delegates and three Alternate Delegates to the
     2012 Republican National Convention.  The purpose of the
     National Convention is to nominate candidates for President
     and Vice President of the United States of America.  Each
     person elected as a Delegate or Alternate to the Fifth District
     Convention will be asked to pay a voluntary $25.00 fee, which
     fee shall be paid to the unit represented, and the unit will
     forward it to the Fifth District Convention.

(d)  Electing one member of the Electoral College to represent  
       the Fifth District; and
(e)  For transacting any other such business as may properly
      come before the convention.

3.    To elect Delegates and Alternates, casting up to 16 Delegate votes to represent Rappahannock County at the State Convention of the Republican Party of Virginia to be held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, 403 North Third Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219, or its alternate site, beginning at 10:00 AM local time on Friday, June 16, 2012 for the following purposes:  

     (a) Nominating a candidate for U.S. Senate to be elected
          November 6, 2012;

     (b) Electing Delegates and Alternate Delegates-at-Large to the
          2012 Republican National Convention to be held in Tampa,
          Florida, or its alternate site, beginning on August  27, 2012, for
          the purpose of nominating a candidate for President and Vice
          President;

     (c) Nominating two (2) Electors-at-Large to be voted in the
          presidential election on November 6, 2012; 
 

     (d) Electing a State Chairman;

     (e) Nominating a National Committeeman and National
          Committeewoman;

     (f)  And for transacting any other such business as may properly   
          come before the convention. 
 

 

A voluntary, non-refundable $35.00 registration fee is requested from each delegate or alternate to the State Convention and must be submitted by the end of the mass meeting.  The election of delegates and alternates shall be closed at the end of the Mass Meeting.

 

Qualifications for Participation in Mass Meeting and/or Conventions

All legal and qualified voters of Rappahannock County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts. The Chair shall appoint all Mass Meeting Committees.
