Quote of the Day

"As our next President and Vice President, John McCain and Sarah Palin will work to cut government spending and taxes.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden want to raise your taxes and increase the size of government.

John McCain and Sarah Palin will make sure American soldiers return home in victory and with honor.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden want to leave before the job is finished in Iraq--even when faced with overwhelmingly evidence that we are winning.

John McCain and Sarah Palin want to provide energy security for America through an “all of the above” strategy that includes off-shore drilling.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden continue to resist calls to put America on a path of oil independence.

Friend, these are only three issues but there are many more where John McCain and Sarah Palin are fighting for the conservative issues that you and I care so deeply about and Barack Obama and Joe Biden are fighting for their liberal agenda.

As we have seen this past week with the economic crisis our country faces, we need conservative leadership in the White House -- and in Congress!"

Republican National Convention: A Jolt of Excitement

Below is an excerpt from National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Cole about the super-charged Republican National Convention and the campaign ahead.
"Last night was electrifying!

Senator John McCain delivered a vision for America that will bring our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan in victory, put us on the path to energy security and improve our economy through cutting taxes and limiting spending.

And, isn't Governor Sarah Palin a great pick for Vice President?

In less than an hour on Wednesday night she showed the world that our Party's conservative values are not just rhetoric -- but that Republicans walk the walk. She did that by talking common sense to Americans and reaffirming their beliefs about what we need to do in Washington to change the direction of the country.

Needless to say -- it is a great time to be a Republican.

The momentum that was started during this week's convention is going to carry us to victory on Election Day. I am more confident than ever that we can keep a Republican in the White House and also elect enough Republicans to the House of Representatives to end Nancy Pelosi's liberal reign.

But we can't send John McCain and Sarah Palin to the White House without support. They need more Republicans in Congress who share their values and their views, and who will work with them to change the direction of the country.

I hope you will join with us in doing everything you can to fight for the issues you and I care so deeply about and elect Republicans this fall.

As this past week has shown, there has never been a more clear difference between the values of our Party versus the values of Barack Obama and the Democrats. A Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid team is just too risky a chance to take.

This past week has energized our Party. I hope you will join with us now to keep the momentum going to victory on Election Day!

Thank you for your support of our party and our candidates.

Sincerely,

Tom Cole, M.C.
Chairman

The Hee Haw Convention

If you want the real news of the Denver Donkey convention, the National Republican Congressional Committee has it.

NRCCNEWS -- Special Edition: Democratic Convention Watch

LIBERAL CONVENTION HERE WE GO

Yesterday was the kick-off of the liberal convention where Democrats will officially nominate Barack Obama. It is also the kick-off for the all out sprint to Election Day.

Democrats are trying to make this election about change. However, we just need to take a look at who will be speaking over the next few days to know it is not about change, but about pushing their liberal policies that include tax increases, amnesty for illegal immigrants, and no immediate solutions for energy security for America.

FAILED LEADERSHIP OF SPEAKER PELOSI AND THE DEMOCRAT-LED CONGRESS

Speaker Nancy Pelosi took the stage last night at the Democrat National Convention to celebrate how far Democrats have come since 2004. We concur they've come a long way -- to destroying even their own party's confidence in the Democrat-controlled Congress.

Since Democrats took the majority less than two years ago, Pelosi and her partisan lapdogs, who refuse to vote on or even debate an energy proposal to increase the supply of American oil, managed to drive down Congress' approval rating to an all time low of 14% this summer, according to a July Gallup Poll. In fact, Congress' approval has fallen below 20% only six times in history. All six occurred during Democrat-held majorities, and four of those six occurred in the short time since Pelosi became Speaker.

REPUBLICANS ARE RIGHT IN LINE WITH AMERICANS

Unlike the Democrats, our Party and our candidates are right in line with the majority of Americans on fighting to keep taxes low, on not cutting and running in Iraq, on blocking amnesty for illegal immigrants and on demanding that we DRILL now to cultivate domestic sources and pass a comprehensive plan to lower the cost of gas and energy.

We can no longer afford the "do-nothing" attitude that has plagued this Democrat-led Congress for the last two years.

America needs a Republican-controlled House of Representatives that is willing to make the tough decisions facing our country -- and that can shape a stronger, more prosperous future for America.

Pain at the Pump? Democrats could care less

The
National Republican Congressional Committee
's latest newsletter (below) has an analysis on how the Democrat Energy Blockade is holding up under pressure from the Rebel Republicans who want a vote on the American Energy Act.

PELOSI AND THE DEMOCRATS PROMOTE SHAM ENERGY PROPOSAL

"While Nancy Pelosi is off on her cross-country tour trying to get her book moved off the New York Times' worst-seller list, voters are wondering why she and her fellow Democrats can't be bothered to address the issue of out of control fuel costs," said Ken Spain, a spokesman for the NRCC. (www.PolitickerCA.com)

Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat Majority are well into the third week of their paid five week vacation right now. And no, they aren't showing any signs of getting back to work before September to vote on an energy package that would increase the supply of American oil.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press reports that kids are about to head back to school where they'll be paying more for lunch, studying from old textbooks and walking further to the bus stop - assuming their bus schedule hasn't been cancelled altogether - thanks to higher fuel prices.

This past Sunday, Pelosi proposed a sham of an energy proposal during her weekly radio address. And it was nothing short of an insult to the American people. Madam Speaker, who hails from California, refuses to allow Congress to vote on - or even debate - legislation that would open the Golden State to offshore drilling.
But listen to this - even George Skelton, a left-of-center columnist for the Los Angeles Times, advocates opening up California to more drilling.
He writes:
"California is the nation's biggest consumer of gasoline - 45 million gallons a day, plus 10 million gallons of diesel. That makes us the third-biggest petroleum-consuming entity in the world, behind on the United States and China. ... So there's a gusher of hypocrisy here: The state that is the biggest consumer of gasoline in the nation - but produces less than 40% of what it uses - is opposed to drilling for more oil off its shores. We're slackers not pulling our weight."

The long and short of it is that our nation is being held hostage by one woman from San Francisco, Nancy Pelosi, who opposes drilling for American oil off the shores of California.

REPUBLICANS WINNING THE DEBATE ON ENERGY
The good news is that Republicans are winning the debate on energy. A recent Rasmussen Poll finds that 61% of Americans want Congress to get back to work immediately and lift the ban on offshore drilling. In terms of how they'll vote for Congress this year, 77% say offshore oil drilling is important. And 67% of Americans recognize Republicans - not Democrats - are pushing the drilling issue.

OUR CANDIDATES' ADS

Our candidates across the country are doing a great job of getting out the message that we must increase the supply of American energy. This week, we're highlighting a fantastic new television ad by John Gard, who's running against Democrat incumbent Steve Kagen in Wisconsin-08.

Republicans are on the right side of the energy debate. Meanwhile, a lot of vulnerable Democrats risk getting swept away by Speaker Pelosi's gusher of hypocrisy.
