Crucifying Kavanaugh

Monday, September 16, 2019

By Gary Bauer

There's no doubt that the New York Times, the left's "paper of record," is little more than a tabloid now.  Over the weekend, the New York Times published a new hit piece smearing Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

It's been only 11 months since Kavanaugh, his wife and daughters were put through hell during his Senate confirmation process.  The tactic was diabolical.  Christine Blasey Ford had zero evidence to support her charges against Kavanaugh, yet the left insisted that she be permitted to slander the judge on national television.

And as the left used her to delay the confirmation process, one new accuser after another was brought forward, with each accusation presented as evidence that Kavanaugh was a serial rapist.  But by the time the confirmation battle was over, multiple accusers had recanted their accusations.

Kavanaugh made it onto the Supreme Court by a vote of 50-to-48.  The unspoken accusation against him got down to one issue -- that he may be the fifth vote to restrict abortion.  You can read a full account of this battle in Justice On Trial by Mollie Hemingway and Carrie Severino.

Between then and now, multiple left-wing leaders promised us that the Kavanaugh battle wasn't over.  Rep. Jerry Nadler, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has made no secret of his desire to impeach Justice Kavanaugh (here and here).

Now the New York Times is publishing more garbage, another accusation from Kavanaugh's college years.  But the Times leaves out one important detail -- the alleged victim says she has no recollection of the event and doesn't want to talk about it.

The accusation comes not from the alleged victim, but from an individual with ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton.  And on that basis, the Times is again willing to deprive Kavanaugh of the presumption of innocence.  And it is willing to subject his wife and daughters to this pain and agony all over again.

Whatever you had to deal with this weekend, just know that Justice Kavanaugh had to look his young daughters in the eyes and reassure them that these smears are untrue.  Can you imagine what that is like?

President Trump jumped in immediately.  He denounced the Times hit piece, warning that the media was trying to browbeat Kavanaugh into moving left.  I suspect the attacks would stop immediately if Kavanaugh embraced abortion.

Watch President Trump’s Rally Tonight at 9 p.m. ET!

Watch President Trump's Rally Tonight at 9 p.m. ET!

September 16, 2019

Tonight, September 16th at 9:00PM Eastern, President Trump will hold a rally in Rio Rancho, NM.

I urge you to watch it and get others to watch as well. We will broadcast it on EndAbortion.TV, on Facebook.com/FatherFrankPavone, and multiple other outlets.

Video of the rally will be available afterward at: www.ProLifePresident.com.

One way to get others to watch is by hosting a "Watch Party" for your family, friends and fellow pro-life advocates.

Those who get their news from the networks and the other left-leaning media are not getting a fair and accurate picture of the president's many accomplishments, especially in the pro-life arena. By watching this rally, you will hear first-hand from the president himself about many of the things he has accomplished in his time in the Oval Office, including that

The president is 100 percent committed to preserving the sanctity of life.

By enabling other people to watch, you are

  • Showing those who worked hard to elect the President that their efforts are paying off!
  • Helping educate voters as they hear from the President himself what his convictions and plans are;
  • Making people aware of the serious threat that the Democrats pose to our nation and its ideals; and
  • Energizing the pro-life, pro-America base for the 2020 elections!

Whether you watch the rally on your own or host a watch party, please let me know at www.RallyWatchParty.com so I can inform the President's team about all of the voter education efforts that are happening.

Sincerely,

Fr. Frank Pavone

Remembering 9/11

"..There are no easy solutions when it comes to foreign policy in the worst parts of the world. Everyone of good heart wants American soldiers out of Afghanistan and home. But how many Americans are willing to risk the increase in terrorism likely to follow such a withdrawal? So long as we remember 9/11, the answer will be: very few."       Ben Shapiro

"The war in Afghanistan isn't a regional or tribal conflict, it isn't a war on "terrorism," it isn't a war on narco-warlords (even though 90% of the worlds illicit opium originates there); it is a war between the values of Islam and the values of the Western Enlightenment, and if you refuse to understand it and fight it on those terms the war in Afghanistan will never be over and certainly never be won. It is clear to anyone with a modicum of knowledge about Islam and its doctrine of Sharia supremacy that the Taliban in Afghanistan and ISIS in Syria and Iraq, and its offshoots elsewhere around the world, do not desire any kind of "peace" except the peace of the Ummah – the peace of the worldwide reign of Islam.."     George Rasley

"Sooner or later we will bring the rest of our troops home from Afghanistan. But the real war won't be over. The enemy is still around, in nearly every country in the world. They're lurking in the darkness and hiding right in plain sight here in our own country. And that's the war that will probably never end."   Jazz Shaw

" 9/11 was neither a beginning nor an ending. The war we are in has gone on for over a thousand years. It might go on for another thousand making a mockery of the appeasers who lecture about "endless war." Wars go on for as long as one side is willing to fight them. The nightmarish reality is that the other side is willing to fight forever. That is a truth too troubling for most people to come to terms with. But until we understand that, we will have learned absolutely nothing from September 11, 2001." David Greenfield

"We never said that Islam is a religion of peace, and always maintained that we must be harsh on infidels, hypocrites and blasphemers"
Muslim cleric Khadim Hussain Rizvi

From the Koran
"O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them." (9:73)

"Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those with him are harsh against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves." (48:29)

ERA: Still a Bad Idea

Delegate Bob Marshall

By Delegate Bob Marshall

According to the very politically left Democrat Blue Virginia Blog two Saturdays ago roughly 200 leftist  progressives  knocked on 7,000 doors in Loudoun this past Saturday to elect candidates who support  the ERA,  abortion, pro transgender ideology in schools and same sex "marriage" in Virginia.  The Leftists plan another such walk in Loudoun.  These walks are happening all around Virginia!

How many conservative Catholics or Evangelical Christians were going door to door to counter this?

And, actress Jane Fonda who is 81, wrote in the Washington Post about her experience and is campaigning door to door in Pennsylvania.

She published her blue print of how the Socialist Democrats intend to win, and they will in 2019 and 2020 in Virginia if we do not match them. This is how the Left intends to win, and will if we do not match them.

This is why I wrote a "how to" civics-political book Reclaiming the Republic: How Christians and  Other Conservatives can Win back America.

Our Congressman: Denver Riggleman

Congressman Denver Riggleman

By Kim Smith

Congress was in recess during the month of August, so, of course, they were on vacation, right?  Wrong when you're talking about our 5th District Congressman, Denver Riggleman.  (I don't know if he even sleeps.)

Given his schedule for the month, he must have identified the secret to self-cloning.  (If you don't subscribe to his weekly/sometimes daily newsletters, and read them, they're highly informative.)  For those of you who don't, the following is some of what he has been doing.

Since too much of politics seems to grow from rumor and innuendo, Denver decided, as he often does, to see for himself.  These were NOT junkets!  He traveled to the southern border to talk personally with ranchers and with our border agents.  Given his technology/security background, he was able to see what's actually happening and what is necessary from the perspective of physical and technological barriers.  Video is available on Facebook.

Another "see for himself" was Denver joining the delegation to Israel, where work is on-going for a peace agreement.  Denver has been to Israel several times and is well-versed on what's happening and what might be possible.  (And he got a briefing on the technology behind the Iron Dome.)

The domestic front appears to have been a whirlwind across the broad expanse of the New Jersey-sized 5tth.  Denver visits businesses and service providers whenever he has a chance – learning what they do and what they need to better succeed in their businesses.  These ran the gamut from a candy (Red Rocker) manufacturer  to a gaming machine manufacturer to a home builder, from a pharmacy focusing on preventive care to a credit union, from Abbott Manufacturers (where he held an employee Town Hall focusing on regulations and infrastructure) to a higher education center focusing on private/public partnerships (with Microsoft); from Camp Friendship to a market and bakery.

During this period, Denver also reported on his introduction of seven bills in Congress and co-sponsorship of 128 others.  Of these, 11 passed the House and 3 have been signed into law – rare for a freshman Member.   He emphasized several of these accomplishments:

  •  The Banking Transparency and Sanctioned Person Act (passed House) which focuses on monitoring financial transaction of "bad actors" and state sponsors of terrorism.
  •  Appropriations to fund rural broadband (note: Denver held a forum on rural broadband in Mecklenburg);
  •  Increasing efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in rural areas (including youth prevention programs - $20.4 million will come to Virginia).

One of his bills, near and dear to him, is The Protecting Patients with Pre-existing Conditions Act, would amend HIPPA, and regardless of what happens with Obamacare, would guaranteed issuance and renewability; prohibit pre-existing condition benefits exclusion, ban health status underwriting, and include community rating.

Agriculture is the largest industry in the 5th District, and Denver spent a lot of time meeting with farmers.  One would chart a course for capturing the lead in the emerging hemp market; the other was a roundtable with Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and a group of farmers who represented a wide variety of products.  That one, too, was filmed on Facebook – and although difficult to hear since it was held outdoors, it was fascinating to learn what the farmers are facing.  (One of the outcomes was emphasis on passing the all-important USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement) to increase our farmer's access to markets in Mexico and Canada.)

Denver has also established a 5th District Agricultural Advisory Committee with farmers representing the reaches of the district.  The group will meet regularly to discuss (and advise) the issues facing farmers, growers, and producers throughout our area.

On the personal level, I wrote Denver about the gun control frenzy after the awful mass shootings.  Wish I had room to print the whole letter, but these stood out: "Our Founding Fathers realized the importance of a well-regulated militia and the right to self-defense against tyranny" and as they continue to consider who best to deal with mass shootings "I will do so with the Constitution as my guide…."

Denver continues to fight for and work for US!

Fickle Fate? Or Business as Usual?

       Delegate Nick Freitas

By Bob Hill

Last week I wrote to the editor of the Madison Eagle citing my belief that Delegate Nick Freitas might have been a victim of the "Fickle Finger of Fate".  I drew attention to Republicans of the 30th district being disenfranchised.  I also pointed to the possibility that it wasn't just Fate.  Today I'd like to suggest that Nick being left off the ballot was a carefully conducted act of "Business as Usual" by the Democratic Party. Nick's paper work was submitted on time but to a dead email address (same as had been used in previous elections) at the Virginia Department of Elections.

Through a sequence of events worthy of the old "Laugh In" show, Nick's resubmission application was late.  The board of elections composed of 2 Democrats and 1 Republican chose not to grant Nick's request for exception even though others with similar situations were granted exception. It was probably naïve to think that fairness would rule the day.   Nick has been an outspoken critic of current Governor Northam and past Governor McAuliffe and has exhibited strong leadership in the House of Delegates.

Nick could have sought legal redress and almost certainly would have prevailed in court. However  ballot printing, and the verdict (probably contested) would have been too late for the 5 November election.  It is to Nick's credit that he chose to compete as a Write In candidate instead of the court case which would have led to mud-slinging.

Nick was a victim of the Democratic Party's "Business as Usual." I'd say it was an attempt to shut down a formidable Republican by "Dirty Tricks".  Seems as though Dems operate on principle that the "Ends Justify the Means".

We must not allow political "Dirty Tricks" to silence Nick's voice in the House of Delegates.  Join me in writing in Nick Freitas on November 5th.  Let us defeat the "Fickle Finger", the "Business as Usual" Dems and re-elect Nick.

Whatever Happened to Our Country?

By Kim Smith

It's hard to recount the number of times people have said to me, "I
don't even recognize the country we're living in today."  One week of
news – if even that much – offers a good summary of just some of what's
been going on!

I woke up to the story of a young woman burning a flag hanging on an
overpass on I-66.  The flag was there to commemorate 9/11 and to honor
not just those first responders who answered the calls that day but all
first responders.

That was followed by an article about a teacher who, after two days of
his students refusing to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, chided
those children.  The teacher was REMOVED.

Next came the George Soros strategy of funneling lots of money to elect
new Commonwealth Attorneys (or District Attorneys) who were "weak on crime".

Another article appeared on-line to keep my day going in a downward
direction: the newly-drafted "Abortion Blueprint that Would Strip
Fundamental Rights" – 114 pages from 70 different groups.  What really
stood out was, "The President must only (emphasis added) put forward and
the Senate must only confirm executive nominees who have a demonstrated
positive record on reproductive health, rights and justice".  If you're
not terrified by those words, we need to talk!

The morning wasn't over.  Next up was a Facebook explanation (good one)
of the Electoral College – whereby the proposed elimination would
literally render null and void the vote of well over half of the
nation's/states' voters.

They were on a roll…  Now, any of us who are members of or supporters of
the National Rifle Association, if San Francisco has any say, would be,
by extension, classified as "domestic terrorists".  Combined with Red
Flag laws, rumors of Antifa arming itself (but not being considered a
"domestic terrorist organization"), and hair-brained proposals to
emasculate the 2nd amendment (the supporters of which admit would not
have prevented the mass shootings), we would become sitting ducks in a
shooting gallery.  We must never forget that the 2nd amendment was
created not just to give us the right to protect ourselves and our
families but also to protect us should/when the government goes off the
rails.  So much for Liberty…

I was really wishing the day was almost over, but such was not the
case.   The next cherry on the tree was declining IQs.  The average IQ
in the United States is allegedly 95.  A different report indicated IQs
are declining worldwide.  Speaking of education, there was a report of
textbook treatment – where the heavy emphasis is on how bad the United
States has been over time.

Still rolling…  George Mason Antonin Scalia School of Law is being
pilloried for receiving a $50 million  bequest with the condition that
it teaches conservative principles of justice.  No mention in the
article that only conservative values were to be taught.

Tucker Carlson closed my news day with a story on immigration – on a
borderless nation – an oxymoron if there ever was one – the suffering,
deaths, lost  income, fear, etc., of those Americans living along the
border.

So, why is the country in the shape it's in?  Let's see.  We seem to be
allowing/enabling a total lack of respect for God, Country, Rule of Law,
Life, Rights (not limited to voting and protection), loss of true
Education versus Propaganda, Indoctrination and Miseducation, and loss
of Nation – and we're getting dumber in the process.

That about sums it up – but I still read the news an am aging fast!

Yes! We Are a Republic: Get Out & Vote

By Ponch K. McPhee

Socialists in Washington and elsewhere continue to rear their head and shake their fist and shout we are a democracy. Never has there been a more ridiculous statement regarding this nation's identity.  The more openly they become, the more clear it is to Americans who know our true historical origins, that we must push back and let them all know that we will vote them out of office and take back this sovereign republic into the hands of the people.

There are many Americans who support doing away with the Electoral College and would move into place the popular vote method of electing our candidates to office. This is absolutely not what the framers had in mind. The founding fathers were careful thinkers preparing, crafting and protecting their design when creating this republic. Even the word democracy does not appear in the Declaration of Independence. Moreover it doesn't even appear in any of our other founding documents. Why, because that was not their intent. Oh yes, they went to limitless perspectives to be sure we remain a republic and that our rights our provided us through God.

I give you this example, Federalist Paper No. 10, James Madison wanted to prevent rule by majority faction, saying, "Measures are too often decided, not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor party, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority."

In addition, John Adams warned in a letter, "Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide."

In a republic the people choose representatives to exercise their power. A republic does not have a king or queen, but rather an elected or appointed president. A republic starts with a free individual with the right to govern him or her selves.

These crazy socialist sorts are out to destroy the very fabric of our culture. They even enable the foreign illegal invasion via our southern border by ridiculing and stepping on our constitution. The Electoral College is necessary to remain a free republic. We must curve the abuse and assault upon our borders which are breaking the law. Illegal aliens must not be allowed to vote in any American elections. You are either here legally or you are not, there is no middle ground along this area.

President  Donald J. Trump is  a great  American  to defend our rights at every intersection and he is so gifted to brush off all of the terrible things the left throws at him. I cannot begin to think about how it will be in America once he leaves office in a few more years. This republic must put into action safe guards to not allow the socialists to achieve greater or continued political power.

I think we might want to take a careful look at term limits. Perhaps be more specific about the process to becoming a citizen, by requiring classes on the constitution, learning English and never allow swearing in to elected office with anything but the holy bible.

The Constitution says "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government" Why doesn't it say "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Democratic Republican Form of Government"? I say, because it was not the framers thinking to have it understood that way.

Elections are for the people, by the people and we must forever insist with extreme prejudice that our process remains as such. I realize that 2019 has many races necessary to be won, especially in the commonwealth. Virginia is in a fierce battle with its republican base fighting hard against the socialist left and the establishment to retain the House of Delegates and the state senate.

We cannot stop there because we have so much work to do. 2020 being a must win for the survival of this republic, it's time you get out your walking shoes and your smile and campaign for the President. Everything is entirely secondary in 2020 to re-electing president Donald J. Trump for another term. There are no exceptions in my humble opinion.

Make it happen now in Virginia and get ready for 2020 ~ Get Out & Vote!   Thank you.

Our Delegate: Nick Freitas

Delegate Nick Freitas

By Kim Smith

Most of you know that our Republican Delegate, Nick Freitas, will not have his name listed on the official ballot for the November 5th election.  To say that this was a perfect storm is putting it mildly.  [MCRC Chair] Jim [Smith] decided to chronicle it – and the paper is over 23 pages long with a 57-page attachment.

There are several important considerations in this saga.  The first is that Nick has represented us well for the past four years – with a committee assignment that led him to be part of the actual process of protecting our first amendment rights, both in the regular session and in the special session.  His position on life is well-known, as are his speeches and attendance at rallies on the subject.  He is truly the voice of freedom and liberty, placing laws and the supreme law – the U.S. Constitution – where it rightly belongs above all else but God.

Nick has been the voice of the people – not just us but so many others.  His speeches against injustices, his speeches supporting our rights, his remarks about over-regulation and its effects on our economy, his remarks on life, and, among many others, his remarks on liberty have been heard by people far beyond our borders – and in one case at least were heard by 12 million people.  His following seems to be nationwide.

We had the privilege of being invited to the inaugural meeting  for  the  new class of potential college  Republicans at the University of Virginia Thursday night.  Nau Hall was quite full – with at least 60 students in attendance, half of whom were new to the college and its many opportunities to engage with communities.  Nick was the featured speaker, and it was the first time I'd heard him in a formal setting in person.  For about forty-five minutes, we could have heard a pin drop – no squirming, rustling, side conversations, just rapt attention.

His explanations of the differences between capitalism and socialism were magnificent – and easy to understand.  His views on the liberty we grew up enjoying – and the 200 years before us – were awesome.  There were so many issues addressed that there's simply not room to share here.  After a photo-op with the students, there was apparently an opportunity for them to sign-up on the dotted line – and the vast majority there did!   I spoke with a student who had been unsure when he attended the meeting.  He came up to me to chat, and he summarized it in a few words:  "That was awesome.  I'm sold."  Nick quite literally brought us a group of people with Future of the Republican Party stamped on their foreheads.

Now to the practical:

Our Representatives to the House of Delegates must first be nominated by what is know as the LDH (Legislation District – House), in Nick's case, District 30.  This happened unanimously last December.  Because of several computer glitches, the notification did not reach the intended recipient at the State Board of Elections.  So another meeting was held to choose a nominee.  Again, Nick was the unanimous choice of the Chairs of the Republican Units in Orange, Culpeper and Madison.  When that was not "good enough", the question became "should we nominate someone else or should we go for a write-in campaign?".   The LDH wanted NICK as our candidate.   A write-in was the choice.

So, fellow Republicans, we have a challenge facing us.  Can we pull off what appears to be the biggest write-in campaign thus far in Virginia's history?   It is amazingly easy to cast a write-in ballot.  In the House of Delegates section, just fill in the rectangle – or oval or square on the other counties' ballots – and write NICK FREITAS on the line next to the bubble.)  We just need to inform people that it's happening – every single voter in Madison County (and Orange and part of Culpeper, too).

Door-knocking is going on throughout LDH30, including in Madison.  There will be postcards sent; telephone calls made; Meet and Greets held – and a forum in Culpeper on October 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Daniel Technology Center that features Nick and his challenger, among others.  On Election Day – and the two Saturday mornings preceding the election, the polls will be manned with outside workers to help this effort from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.  Help by spreading the word however you can.  Volunteer for an hour or two or days if you can.

You all are well aware of what's at stake if we lose the House of Delegates (and the Senate).  So, let's do everything possible to make this effort a resounding success.  If you have ANY questions, please just call!
