Quote of the Day

"That Barack Obama has a strong affection for Islam is now indisputable. What is less apparent is why he has such an affinity for Islam. Polls show roughly one-in-five Americans believe their president is a Muslim. But Obama’s Islamophilia is driven by ideology not theology. Obama’s left-wing progressivism varies with Islamism on many issues. But their adherents find common cause in a common enemy: the Judeo-Christian worldview at the heart of Western democracy."

Quote of the Day

"The Left has always had trouble arguing against conservatives positions on their merits. That’s why liberals resort to scurrilous attacks so often and so quickly. And when a particularly effective conservative spokesman appears, they will stop at nothing to bring him or her down.

When Sarah Palin burst onto the political scene in 2008 as Senator John McCain’s running mate, the Left was so stunned by her popularity and charisma that it groped at anything it could to try and destroy her image. Some liberals stooped so low as to mock Trig Palin, Sarah’s youngest son, who has Down syndrome. And at least one “respected” D.C. journalist repeatedly claimed that Trig was in fact Sarah’s grandson and that they faked the pregnancy for political gain.

Given all this, it is not surprising what one liberal writer is doing to Glenn Beck. Beau Friedlander, a contributing writer at the Huffington Post offered a large sum of money for a non-existent sex tape of Beck. In his column today Friedlander wrote, “I hereby offer to negotiate a $100,000 payday to the person who will come forward with a sex tape or phone records or anything else that succeeds in removing Glenn Beck from the public eye forever.” Though the Huffington Post, which is the Left’s most influential blog, deleted Friedlander’s post after conservative outrage, conservatives should brace themselves for more of these sorts of attacks as Election Day approaches."

President Obama's Radio Address "No Corporate Takeover of Our Democracy" Exposes President's Double Standard Regarding Corporate Influence

Big Business Played a Major Role In Passing ObamaCare and the Waxman-Markey Cap-and-Trade Legislation, says the Free Enterprise Project

Washington, D.C. - The Free Enterprise Project is charging President Obama with having a double standard on corporate money and influence.

"After using big business to advance his political agenda, suddenly President Obama is expressing concerns about corporate money in the political process. The fact is corporations played a crucial role in making ObamaCare law and getting the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill passed in the House of Representatives," said Tom Borelli, Ph.D., director of the National Center for Public Policy Research's Free Enterprise Project.

During his radio address Saturday, President Obama expressed fear that the Supreme Court decision in the Citizens United case would allow corporate special interests to spend unlimited amounts of money to sway elections. The president warned that companies could "hide behind a phony name like 'Citizens for a Better Future,'" since a business entity paying for TV advertising is not required to disclose its name. The president added that the business could be a foreign corporation: "You don't know if it's BP," said Obama.

Borelli notes that President Obama was the sole spokesperson in atelevision advertisement touting the benefits of his health care plan -- an advertisement sponsored by Americans for Stable Quality Care, an organization funded by the drug industry and SEIU, the service employees' union. In addition, Politico reported that PhRMA, the drug industry trade group, at one point planned to spend "as much as $150 million for advertising and grass-roots activity to help pass the president's plan."

"President Obama's selective outrage about corporate influence is alarming. It's ironic that the president himself appeared in a TV advertisement sponsored by what he now calls "shadowy groups with harmless-sounding names," added Borelli.

"The President's reference to BP is also disturbing. While Obama is trying to frighten the public by depicting BP as a 'foreign-controlled corporation,' he failed to mention the company was an ally in lobbying for his cherished cap-and-trade legislation. BP was a founding member of the United States Climate Action Partnership - a lobbying group that was largely responsible for passing the Waxman-Markey bill in the House of Representatives in 2009," said Borelli.

Borelli notes that corporate interests such as General Electric have been a key ally of President Obama: "GE CEO Jeff Immelt has been a cheerleader for Obama's political plan including the president's green energy agenda. Immelt has partnered with Obama in seeking the so-called green energy economy and the company has aggressively lobbied for the president's $ 787 billion stimulus plan. Hundreds of millions of dollars of the stimulus money was subsequently steered to GE's customers. It's disingenuous for the president to challenge corporate influence when he has actively partnered with big business when it served his political purposes," added Borelli.

In a radio address last year, Obama cited the important role corporations were playing in pressing for cap-and-trade, saying, "Utility companies and corporate leaders are working with environmental advocates and labor leaders to find a way to reduce dependence on foreign oil, to fight climate change, and to create millions of new jobs in America."

Borelli concludes, "Corporate special interests such as GE and the drug industry can be as much as a risk to liberty as progressive politicians. This is especially true when the agenda of big business aligns with progressive elected officials and labor unions. This is why Tea Party activists need to challenge politicians and business leaders."

The National Center For Public Policy Research is a conservative, free-market non-profit think-tank established in 1982. It is supported by the voluntary gifts of over 100,000 individual recent supporters, and receives less than one percent of its revenue from corporate sources.

Get Your Flag Ready for 9-11!

A great idea bouncing around through email...

On Saturday, September 11th, 2010, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this ninth anniversary of one our country's worst tragedies. We do this honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

Action Plan:

So, here's what we need you to do ...

(1) Forward this to everyone you know (at least 11 people). Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

Thank you for your participation.

God Bless You and God Bless America!

"It's just a matter of time before a homegrown nut inspired by a radical mosque or Web site overcomes their bomb-making learning curve and successfully detonates one, blowing up a building or a mall or a plane inside America. And then we'll all wonder why more wasn't done to shut down these sites. Of course, by then we'll be sweeping up the remains of victims, and it will be too late."

Good news for Virginia's Women

Victoria Cobb, The Family Foundation of Virginia, discusses the chance to improve the health and safety of Virginia's women.

State can regulate abortion centers

"In an opinion released on Friday Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli states that the Commonwealth of Virginia can regulate abortion centers absent legislation by the General Assembly. This means that these centers can be regulated through the state’s normal regulatory process.

The opinion was sought by state Senator Ralph Smith (R-22, Roanoke) and Delegate Bob Marshall (R-13, Manassas).

Providing safety standards for Virginia’s abortion centers has been a legislative priority for The Family Foundation for many years. Until the mid 1980s centers were regulated but that ended due to constitutional concerns. Since that time, abortion centers have been seen by the state as doctor’s offices, which require no emergency equipment for resuscitation or hemorrhage. The Family Foundation has worked to improve safety standards in abortion centers to those required for ambulatory (outpatient) surgery centers. After all, abortion is an invasive, surgical procedure.

Of course, the abortion industry in Virginia, Planned Parenthood and NARAL, have fought with all their might against safety standards for their centers. They argue that the procedure is safe, despite the fact that the state doesn’t have any reporting requirements for complications to abortion (also fought against by the abortion industry) so there is no way to really know. They also argue that abortion centers shouldn’t be “singled out” for regulation. What they don’t say is that other outpatient surgery businesses are self-regulated through respected, national accreditation organizations that require significant safety measures for their seal of approval. No such respected accreditation group exists for abortion.

The Attorney General’s opinion gives Governor McDonnell’s administration the opportunity to create necessary regulations for abortion centers without approval from the General Assembly. Since state agencies such as the Board of Health already have the power to regulate medical facilities this is not a new policy or a policy change that should require legislation. Previous governors simply have not acted on this ability."

A Prayer for the Unemployed

Let Us Pray,

Our Heavenly Father, We pray that you will continue to have your hand over this nation.

We thank you for the opportunity to assemble with our friends

Please give our leaders wisdom to make decision in accordance to the teachings of our Judeo-Christian faith and our rule of law.

We especially pray for the souls of the medical missionaries who gave their lives while on a recent mission of mercy in Afghanistan. We pray for their families who are suffering this tremendous sacrifice of human life.

We pray for the families of Senator Stevens and friends who lost their lives in a recent airplane accident in Alaska.

We pray for the millions of our fellow American who are still seeking employment in order to sustain their families. Give them hope and comfort; that they not lose faith.

Please protect and watch over our most precious human resources who are the men and women serving our nation in foreign lands.

We pray in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Quote of the Day

"As for Obama’s more contemporary connections to Islam, I pay the most attention to his words in his book, Audacity of Hope, where Obama calls into question the divinity of Christ. This is, in my view, a bright dividing line between being a Christian believer and being a Muslim adherent. I also know that Rev. Wright is a former Muslim and maintains close ties to the Muslim community. All of this information gives me confidence that Obama’s world view, his basic mental architecture, has more links to Islam than Christianity."

Quote of the Day

"The fact is that the free exercise of religion encompasses much more than mere worship and does include the right of an organized religion to own property and practice their religion thereon as well as certain practices in the public square. But the right to freely exercise one’s religion does not entitle one to wear a burka to first grade or do peyote in one’s church.

Clearly, the First Amendment does not compel Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the NYC Zoning Authorities to grab their ankles when imams demand they bend over."

Summer of Unemployment

The dilettante currently occupying the White House couldn't seem to care less about average Americans as he cruises from one vacation to another...

What Recovery?

"It’s been a busy few weeks for President Obama. He’s declared war on Arizona over its efforts to enforce our immigration laws and he jumped into a fight with two-thirds of the American people who oppose the Ground Zero mosque. After all that hard work, Barack Obama is taking a break and going on vacation to the elite getaway of Martha’s Vineyard.

While the president is playing golf and enjoying the beach, his “Summer of Recovery” tour bus crashed and burned after today’s announcement that weekly claims for unemployment benefits “unexpectedly jumped” to 500,000 – the highest level in nine months.

For the umpteenth time, the media are saying that unemployment has “unexpectedly increased.” It’s time to reset expectations. There’s nothing coming out of Obama’s White House or this Democrat-dominated Congress that would cause businesses to think better days are ahead. All we’ve seen is one big government program and tax hike after another. Tremendous tax hikes are coming when the Bush tax cuts expire on December 31st. The number of congressional Democrats who think the Bush tax cuts ought to be renewed is so small they could hold their meetings in a phone booth.

President Obama, who blasted corporate America for holding conferences in Las Vegas, should cancel the Martha’s Vineyard vacation (his sixth vacation of the year) and get back to work trying to fix the economy.

Then again, maybe it would be best if he just stayed away from Washington for a while."

"President Obama even likened our economic situation to driving a car, saying “You want to go forward, what do you do? You put it in ‘D.' When you go backward, what do you do? You put it in ‘R.'”

There's a key problem with the President's strained analogy: The decision to drive forward or backwards depends on where you are parked. And right now, the United States appears parked on the edge of a cliff."
