Rep. Hurt Drums Up Votes Outside Scott Stadium On Game Day

By Kristin Twiford

Oct. 20. 2012 -- Fifth District Republican Congressman Robert Hurt campaigned outside Scott Stadium before Saturday's University of Virginia football game.

Hurt talked to Wahoo fans and potential voters at the tailgates before the game. He says his message is simple, no matter who you vote for, be sure to exercise that right on November 6.

He said, "People are very excited about this game and we're all rooting for the Hoos today… but people are also, I think, very interested in the outcome of this election. They know how important it is, they know that we can't keep on the same road that we're on."

Hurt talked to those football fans about the nation's debt and unemployment. The first term incumbent faces Democratic challenger John Douglass for the 5th District seat.
