Vote YES! English as our Official Language

Congressman Randy Forbes wants your opinion. Read on and follow the link at the bottom of his post:

America is strong not just because America is diverse, but because of our ability as a nation to unite people of different backgrounds and cultures around the common principles that make our country strong.

The ability to communicate in one standard language in the workforce, in our schools, and in official functions and ceremonies is not only important, but builds unity among citizens and creates a sense of national pride. Declaring English as the official language of the U.S. is an important step to continuing that tradition.

It is with this goal in mind that I cosponsored H.R. 997, the English Language Unity Act of 2009, to require that any official function in the U.S. be conducted in English. The bill creates a uniform language testing standard for U.S. Naturalization to ensure that all citizens are able to read and understand the English text of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the laws of the U.S.

I’d like to know what you think. Do you support legislation to declare English as the official language of the United States?

Let me know by taking this poll.
