Quote of the Day
"America's energy industry is responsible for more than 9 million jobs and nearly 8% of our gross domestic product. But yesterday, we heard one Senate Democrat after another criticizing oil companies for making profits and bashing their executives as "out of touch."
It's the liberals who are out of touch. Liberals don't like Wal-Mart because its employees aren't unionized. They don't like McDonald's because it puts toys in kids' meals. They want to punish Boeing for opening a plant in a non-unionized state. They attack the pharmaceutical industry, even though it produces the finest life-saving medications in the world.
In short, if you are a successful business, Democrats approach you as if you are a competitor to their ideal where everyone works for Big Government!
Now, contrast yesterday's Senate hearing with what happened in the House, where conservative Republicans passed a bill to dramatically expand offshore drilling. Which of these two approaches -- bashing business executives or allowing access to our natural resources -- do you think is most likely to bring down gas prices?
And which of these two things did you hear about most on the evening news? The left-wing media had a field day showing "Big Oil" CEOs getting their comeuppance from Senate Democrats. And it had little to no interest in reporting what House conservatives were doing to reduce your pain at the pump. "
