Quote of the Day

"Sarah Palin's response to the Supreme Court's 5-to-4 ruling today upholding ObamaCare and the individual mandate was the most on target comment I read or heard -- "Obama Lies, Freedom Dies."

The court rejected the administration's main argument that the individual mandate was constitutional based on the Commerce Clause. It rejected the administration's second argument that the mandate was constitutional under the Necessary and Proper Clause.

However, five justices, including sadly Chief Justice John Roberts, concluded that the mandate was constitutional under Congress' power to tax. As Roberts wrote in his opinion, "Simply put, Congress may tax and spend."

That's the problem in Washington, isn't it? There's already way too much spending, and ObamaCare won't help that. And it is a huge tax increase -- $500 billion over the next ten years.

Here is where the lie comes in. You may recall Barack Obama's September 2009 interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos. During a testy exchange, Obama repeatedly rejected Stephanopoulos' characterization of the mandate as a tax, saying, "I absolutely reject that notion."
Unfortunately, that was the only notion the Supreme Court didn't reject, and the justices' decision is effectively calling Obama a lying tax-hiker."
