Here’s a fact that many in Virginia’s 5th District are unaware of – Washington DC lobbyist and insider John Douglass once again shows that he is simply out of touch with the people of the 5th district, this time saying he would support the wasteful stimulus that 5th District Virginians rejected in 2010 and still reject now. We already know that Washington DC lobbyist John Douglass has been caught not once, but twice deliberately deceiving members of the press over his past lobbying positions. So it is no surprise that he shows how out of touch he is by supporting the same failed retread policies of this administration and the last congress. The Obama-Pelosi stimulus was an absolute failure; it failed to create jobs, it spent over a trillion dollars on pork barrel spending, and it expanded the federal government, leaving our children and grandchildren to foot the bill.
STIMULUS FACTS & FAILURES: John Douglass Wants More Of The Same
FACT: After signing the Obama stimulus into law, unemployment rose to above 10% nationally. Unemployment levels remained above 8% for 43 consecutive months, the longest stretch since World War II.
FAILURE: The Obama administration predicted that if the stimulus was passed unemployment would never rise above 8%.
FACT: When President Obama took office, 11.6 million Americans were out of work.
FAILURE: Today, with the wasteful stimulus still in effect, over 12 million Americans remain out of work in President Obama’s economy.
FACT: Since President Obama took office, over 7.5 million Americans have dropped out of the workforce
FAILURE: If as many remained in the workforce as there were when he took office, the unemployment rate would be above 11%.
FACT: The stimulus spent over $1 trillion in borrowed money and spent it on everything except creating jobs, $90 billion on failed Solyndra-type programs and $450 million on a program that created jobs in China.
FAILURE: The bill from the stimulus isn't paid for and continues to add to our ballooning national debt which now stands at above $16 trillion.
Despite stimulus record of failure, waste and debt, and knowing how this massive government program continues to harm the people of the 5th District, John Douglass would still do it all over again!
