Good evening,
As the Hoos get ready to head home for a much deserved break for Thanksgiving, we have one more exciting event planned and several updates.
Updates
CRs Host Trump Victory Rep/Debate Night
On Thursday, we hosted Dawson Buchanan, the 5th congressional district's representative for Trump Victory. Dawson described what it's going to take to flip VA red in 2020 and how our organization can help out. We're looking forward to campaigning to re-elect President Trump in 2020!
Also, as mentioned in the last email, we decided to host a debate last week instead of a speaker. Random topics that evenly divide the Republican Party were chosen, debated, and the team that made the most convincing arguments was declared the winner. Our members enjoyed it so much that when our reservation for the room expired, we moved to another one to continue debating well past our usual ending time! Discussing issues with fellow conservatives is definitely the best way to solidify our views - and it's pretty fun too!
Rake-a-Thon
On Saturday, about a dozen of our members braved the cold weather to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity's annual Rake-a-Thon event. As mentioned in the previous email, we intend to place a good amount of emphasis on volunteering now that election season has passed. Our volunteers certainly exemplified that goal on Saturday!
Upcoming
CRs and TPUSA Co-Host Jaco Booyens
We are very excited to have Jaco Booyens come speak with us this Thursday. Jaco, the sibling of a sex trafficking survivor, was inspired to devote his life's work to bringing attention to the issue and helping other victims.
One such effort was his role in directing and producing the film 8 DAYS, a movie devoted to bringing awareness to sex trafficking in the United States. Jaco also works on a number of other projects with the central goal of empowering women. The event will be in Monroe Hall, room 122 and while it won't start until 7PM, those interested are encouraged to get there around 6:30PM to guarantee you get a seat. Please take a moment to sign up here to get a ~free~ ticket to the event. Hope to see you there!
That's all we have for you now. Thank you for your continued support of UVA CRs.
