WASHINGTON - Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) reacts to the historic U.S. Supreme Court decision blocking President Biden's student loan forgiveness plan today.
"Today's SCOTUS ruling is a pivotal reminder of our system of Checks and Balances that President Biden was attempting to trample on with his unconstitutional plan to cancel billions in student loan debt. As then-Speaker Pelosi stated, the president has no authority to terminate debt unilaterally, and this decision answers this question once and for all.
"Additionally, morally and politically, this decision is a triumphant victory for most Americans who have either paid off their debts or never incurred student loan debt. As we turn the corner, lawmakers should evaluate ways to lower the cost of higher education and promote alternatives to college, creating more opportunities and economic mobility for countless Americans."
