The Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) honored the first woman from any political party to serve in the Virginia State Senate at its recent State Central Committee meeting.
Eva Scott, a Republican from Amelia, became Virginia's first female Senator after a successful campaign in 1979.
"Eva Scott is a pioneer who served the people of Virginia with class and dignity," said Republican Party of Virginia Chairman John Hager. "She not only paved the way for women in Virginia politics, but she also was instrumental in growing the Republican Party in Virginia and setting a course for victory throughout the Commonwealth. For her service and for what she has done for RPV, we extend to Eva our deepest thanks and appreciation."
RPV presented Senator Scott with a framed poster from her first campaign for Senate.
