The four terrorists were released last Thursday and are now free to live in Bermuda without a trial. These dangerous men were members of the Uighur ethnic group and were captured on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border after completing training at the al-Qaeda affiliated East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) camp in Tora Bora. They are the same men that Canada and Germany refused to take because of the national security risk they posed.
We at Military Families United are outraged by the Uighurs’ release and the cost associated with freeing terrorists on the taxpayer’s dime and against the demands of Congress. On Monday, we demanded that President Obama disclose how much transferring the Uighurs cost the American taxpayer. Receiving no response to our call, today we filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to force the release of the financial documents associated with Thursday’s transfer and the expenditures, financial commitments and payment schedules for these terrorists. The FOIA request can be read here."
