"A recent poll of likely voters found that 63% incorrectly believed that we spend more money on defense and foreign aid than on Social Security and Medicare. In reality, we are spending nearly $400 billion more on Social Security and Medicare than on defense and foreign aid.
According to one analysis, three federal programs -- Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid -- will consume all federal tax dollars by 2052. There is simply no way to deal with the deficit without reforming these very popular programs."
