Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.  He left us a legacy of justice and peace to emulate and follow. He was a man of courage and great conviction. I am grateful that I lived to witness this great man lead our community in nonviolent protests for our civil rights. He embodied everything that was pure and good and his good deeds cost him his life.

We remember Dr. King, Jr. and we strive to live our lives in peace and unity with our fellowman. We must value all human life and love our neighbor as we love ourselves.  We must keep Dr. King's dream alive until all racism and inhumanity are destroyed.

Let's do our part to reject prejudice and to recognize the dignity and humanity of all people. I hope you will join me in honoring Dr. King's legacy, and do your part to make Dr. King's legacy of justice, unity and peace a reality!
For faith, family and freedom,

Bill and Deborah Owens
