We had quite a busy week last week, so we're a little late on the weekly update, but we've got plenty to fill you in on and just as much to come!
Updates
Call Nights
We hosted two call nights last week for Springfield Supervisor Pat Herrity, Delegate Tim Hugo, and DJ Jordan for delegate. Campaign season is now in full swing and our members are exhibiting the drive and devotion needed to hold our majorities this November.
Weekly Meeting
Delegate Rob Bell came to speak to the CRs Thursday night about the importance of this year's election and what we'll have to do to start winning in VA again. After watching the video of Delegate Yancey's name being drawn out of a bowl, exemplifying how close we were to losing our house majority in 2017, Delegate Bell drove home the point that we cannot take anything for granted this year. He then proceeded to speak of the radical initiatives that would be undertaken by a Democratic majority, including the passage of Delegate Kathy Tran's heinous abortion bill, the repeal of VA's right-to-work laws, and much, much more. Needless to say, the crowd really enjoyed him and left the meeting eager to work to hold our majorities.
CRFV Deployment
Over the weekend, our members participated in the CRFV statewide deployment. CRs chapters from across the Commonwealth gathered in Richmond to knock doors for Senator Glen Sturtevant and Garrison Coward for delegate. They had a great time and knocked THOUSANDS of doors!
Upcoming Events
Call Night
We've had so much success with our call nights that we're going to keep the ball rolling with another one tonight for Speaker Kirk Cox. Also, if this one is as successful as the others have been, we'll likely host another later in the week.
Weekly Meeting: Garrison Coward
This week, we'll be hosting Garrison Coward in Monroe 122 on Wednesday at 7PM. Garrison is our candidate in the 68th House of Delegates district and is running to unseat the incumbent Democrat there. Several of our members had the opportunity to meet and knock doors for him at this weekend's deployment, and would tell you that he's definitely someone that you want to meet. Luckily, everyone has that opportunity on Wednesday! Parking is available for just $1/hr. at the UVA bookstore (please reach out to me if you have any further questions). We hope to see you there!
That's all we have for you now. Thank you for your continued support of UVA CRs.
