Twitter, Garland and Tik Tok

By Gary Bauer

Twitter Votes & Trump's Truth

You've probably heard that Elon Musk asked Twitter users to vote on whether Donald Trump should be allowed back on the social media platform. Trump initially won the vote 52% to 48%. But I doubt we can rely on those totals. I'm sure the mail-in tweets are yet to be counted. (That was a joke.)

On a more serious note, Trump vowed to stick with his own special platform, Truth Social. But when Musk reinstated Trump's account, you could once again read the former president's tweets from January 6, 2021.

Trump repeatedly urged the crowd not to engage in violence, writing: "I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order –By respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!"

And this: "Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!"

Yet, when Twitter took down Trump's account on January 6th, it prevented those tweets from being seen.  And then the left built the whole January 6th show trial around the absurd lie that Trump encouraged the mob and caused an "insurrection."

Garland's "Special" Counsel

Friday afternoon, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that he was appointing a special counsel to investigate and potentially prosecute former President Trump. Never mind that Donald Trump has been investigated nonstop for the past five years by the FBI, by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and by multiple congressional committees, including the January 6th Committee.

Within minutes of Garland's announcement, the media talking heads were universally praising the selection of Jack Smith. Fox News and other outlets noted that Smith is currently prosecuting war criminals in the Hague, as if to suggest that Donald Trump is a "war criminal."

The truth of the matter is that Smith is a political hack. In 2014, the House Oversight Committee concluded that he arranged a key meeting between infamous IRS official Lois Lerner and the Department of Justice that led to the targeting of conservative organizations during the Obama/Biden Administration.

When Smith ran the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section, he prosecuted then-Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, who was a rising star in the Republican Party, under federal bribery and corruption charges. A jury convicted McDonnell on 11 charges.

Two years later, a unanimous ruling from the Supreme Court overturned the convictions. But McDonnell's political future had been completely trashed.

Mission accomplished.

Dump Tik Tok Now!

This weekend, Senators Tom Cotton (R-VA) and Mark Warner (D-VA) were on Sunday talk shows. They both had the same message: Get your children off Tik Tok.

Warner actually said something that must have been very difficult for him. Speaking on Fox News Sunday, Warner said, "Well, I think Donald Trump was right. TikTok is an enormous threat."

You'll recall that Trump took steps to ban Tik Tok from the country. He was roundly attacked for the move. And, of course, Joe Biden repealed Trump's order.

But both Senators Cotton and Warner made it absolutely clear that Tik Tok is the largest surveillance program in history. Communist China is monitoring our children and collecting voluminous information about them.

"All of that data that your child is inputting and receiving is being stored somewhere in Beijing," Sen. Warner said.

Sen. Cotton warned, "It's not just the contents you upload to TikTok but all the data on your phone and other apps, all your personal information, even facial imagery, even where your eyes are looking on your phone."

Tik Tok is collecting everything on your child's phone. . . everything. Their contacts, their health records and financial information – all of it is being swept up by Chinese communist and stored in data centers controlled by the greatest enemy of the United States.

By the way, an article was published last week asking if Tik Tok, a communist Chinese app, tilted the midterm elections against the GOP. It notes that "TikTok's algorithm decides what each user will see next," and it warns that more and more young Americans are getting their news from Tik Tok, with 40% of them even preferring it as a search engine over Google.

You may not be able to do anything about your adult children, but you can take a stand as a parent and not allow your teenagers to get on Tik Tok!
