House Releases Its Energy Bill to Promote More American Energy

Summary:
The U.S. House of Representatives released its energy bill, H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act which will increase the production and export of American energy and reduce the regulatory burdens that make it harder to build major infrastructure in the United States through comprehensive permitting reform. The Lower Energy Costs Act will also expedite critical mineral mining, streamline manufacturing, and make it easier to transport and export American natural gas by repealing the natural gas tax and speeding permitting for critical projects. It will also reform the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) that currently adds years of delays and millions of dollars in costs to energy and infrastructure projects. The Lower Energy Costs Act will provide a streamlined, simplified permitting process for all federally impacted projects, speeding construction for pipelines, transmission, and water infrastructure. By fast-tracking the approval process for American energy production on federal lands and waters and speeding up the permitting process, the bill will lower costs for Americans and help grow the U.S. economy.

Fast Facts:
  • The Bill is an attempt to dispel some of the Biden Administration's anti-oil and gas policies, pipeline permitting delays, and rejections of critical mineral mines such as revoking the leases for the Twin Metals mine in Minnesota and withdrawing lands from mining, despite resources known to be in place.
  • The Institute for Energy Research (IER) showed in its report on environmental quality that Biden's preference for oil production outside of North America results in oil and natural gas production moving from countries with the highest environmental standards to countries with lower, or even functionally zero, environmental standards.
  • By withholding oil and gas production leases and minimizing land available for future production, President Biden is not allowing taxpayers to get the full value of the resources on public lands owned by the American public.
  • President Biden told his federal agencies to ensure climate change is factored into their work and even issued that edict to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)—a politically independent agency in charge of certain energy activities including natural gas permitting.
  • While the United States has critical minerals needed for wind turbines, solar panels, electric vehicles and their batteries, Biden is making it difficult to mine those resources in the United States by removing lands from mining, revoking leases, delaying permits and listing wildflowers as endangered.

Congressman Good Update: District Meetings with Hardworking Virginians

Working for You

Our team continues to work hard for Virginians across the Fifth District. Since taking office:

  • We have responded in writing to 65,403 messages from constituents.
  • We have helped resolve 4,028 cases our constituents had with federal agencies.
  • We are currently working to cut through bureaucratic red tape for over 650 more Virginians.
  • We have facilitated the successful return of more than $17.3 million owed to Virginians by their federal government.
We work with every agency on many issues, from Social Security benefits to State Department passport applications. We have helped 786 people with delays in processing their tax returns. And, I am especially proud of the work we do on behalf of our veterans. We have already worked on cases for 443 veterans over the past 27 months.

One of the ways we work to serve you more effectively is by conducting Mobile Office Hours in your community. Each month members of my team travel the 5th District to bring you the convenience of meeting in person with a congressional staff member.

On March 21st, the team will be in the city of Charlottesville from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (available by appointment only), and Louisa County from 1 p.m. to 3p.m. On March 23rd, the team will be in Nottoway County from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and in Mecklenburg County from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. For more information on the dates, times and locations for mobile office hours, including how to make an appointment in Charlottesville, please visit my website at https://good.house.gov/mobile-office-hours.

Whether you need help with a federal agency, are trying to find out if federal grants are available for your local project, or are considering applying to a service academy, you can visit the following link to see how my staff and I are here to serve you: https://good.house.gov/services/help-federal-agency.

I will continue to do my best going forward to fight for you in Congress and for the principles that continue to make America the greatest nation in our history.

Republicans introduce major energy package with party's top priorities

March 14, 2023

House Republicans on Tuesday afternoon introduced a sprawling energy package aimed at boosting fossil fuels and mining and limiting environmental reviews for infrastructure projects.

The nearly 200-page bill, which they announced last week would be H.R.1 - signaling that it is the party's top priority - is highly partisan and is unlikely to pass through a divided congress.

However, it does outline Republican goals and positions - particularly as they seek to both criticize the Biden Administration's energy policies but also try to find a bipartisan compromise for speeding up infrastructure project approvals. Read more

IRLI Takes Aim at San Francisco Alien Voting Law

March 17, 2023

Shows California Appeals Court that law violates the Constitution

WASHINGTON—The Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) has submitted a friend-of-the-court brief before a California state appellate court in a case in which citizen voters challenge a San Francisco alien voting law. The law gives the right to vote in school board elections to alien residents of the city. A trial court struck down the law under the California Constitution, which reserves the right to vote to citizens, and San Francisco brought this appeal.

In its brief, IRLI shows why the law violates the Equal Protection Clauses of both the federal Constitution and the California Constitution. United States citizens should be considered a protected class under both provisions, IRLI argues, and thus the San Francisco law, which automatically dilutes the votes of every American citizen in San Francisco, can only stand under either Constitution if it is necessary to serve a compelling governmental interest.

No governmental interest in giving the vote to aliens can be compelling, IRLI argues, because doing so necessarily infringes on the fundamental sovereign interest, recognized again and again by the U.S. Supreme Court, of U.S. citizens in the democratic self-government of their country. Aliens are "by definition outside of" the political community of the United States, as the Supreme Court has put it, and "the right to govern [and to vote] is reserved to citizens."

"We are fighting this law and others like it around it around the country—including in our nation's capital—because they erode the People's democratic sovereignty over this country," said Dale L. Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of IRLI. "And that erosion will spread. If laws like this are not struck down, next there will be calls in many states to allow aliens to vote in statewide and even federal elections. We hope the court is assisted by our brief, and invalidates this assault on the sovereignty of the American people."

The case is Lacy v. City and County of San Francisco, No. A165899 (Cal. App. Dist. 1 Div. 5).

Gov. Youngkin Updates for this Week!

Eric Zehr for Delegate: Bob Good just endorsed me!

I have some huge news for you, Congressman Bob Good has endorsed me in my campaign to bring real conservative values to Richmond.
We both got our start in politics on the Campbell County Board of Supervisors where we stood up for our Juedao-Christian Values and Constitutional Freedoms.

I represented Rustburg District on the Campbell County Board of Supervisors from 2014-2018. We served together on the Campbell Board from 2016-2018. I also served as chairman of the Campbell County Republicans from 2015-2018.

In his statement endorsing me, Rep. Good said,

"I am proud to enthusiastically endorse my good friend, Eric Zehr, for the Republican nomination for the 51st District House of Delegates seat. Eric and I served together on the Campbell County Board of Supervisors, and he has consistently demonstrated that he is a principled and courageous conservative warrior. Eric is a true patriot, who will bring the fight to Richmond for limited government, lower taxes, the sanctity of life, our 2nd Amendment rights, and our nation's founding principles. Please join me in supporting Eric Zehr for the House of Delegates."

Now we are both taking a stand against the insane leftist Democrats; with him in D.C. and me in Richmond we will truly be able to bring our Republic back!

March 23 Event: Stop VDH from adding Covid Vaccine to School Children’s Required Immunization

Please attend make our voices heard  by the fifteen unelected administrators of the Board Of Health on Mar 23!

Thursday, March 23rd,
9 am – 12 noon
Perimeter Center
9960 Mayland Drive
Richmond, Virginia 23233

PLEASE SIGN UP HERE

The Virginia Medical Freedom Alliance (VAMFA) is concerned that the Virginia Board of Health may be considering the addition of the C-19 jab to the required immunizationschedule for school children (which applies to all children under 18 years in VA, regardless of school attendance or type).

The VDH began a regulatory review of the administrative law chapter that includes the immunization schedule in Fall. VAMFA led a public comment campaign that resulted in over 600 comments in opposition filed in less than three weeks. A regulatory report of VDH  recommended changes is due by the end of March. This will be that last opportunity to speak in opposition before they may make a decision. Since the CDC added the jab to its scheduled of required immunizations for schoolchildren in February 2023, we are concerned that the BOH may use that as an excuse to mandate it for VA children — even though VA is not required by law to accept the CDC schedule (for example, VA schedule does not require the influenza vaccine while the CDC schedule does).

Sign up to join us in filling the room with medical freedom minded Virginians. If you want to speak you'll be given two minutes maximum. We recommend bringing a copy of what you plan to say to be added to the public record. If you aren't able to speak you can submit your comments in writing on the day of this event.

PLEASE SIGN UP HERE

Also, we encourage a phone call to call Governor Youngkin, (804)786-2211 to demand that honor his tweet from of Oct 2022 that he will NOT allow this experimental, toxic jab to be mandated and added to the childhood immunization schedule.

Please join us to help pack the room and make our voices heard  by the fifteen unelected administrators of the Board Of Health on Mar 23!

A Trans Blockade

Thursday, March 16, 2023

By Gary Bauer

State Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh, far-left politician in the Nebraska legislature, has filibustered every single piece of legislation for the past three weeks. The legislature is now halfway through its session and major bills are not moving. She's been very clear, telling legislators, "I am going to make it painful — painful for everyone. I will burn the session to the ground."

Why is Sen. Cavanaugh doing this? She's demanding that Republicans either withdraw or defeat a bill to protect children from chemical sterilization and mutilating transgender surgery.

This is insane!  The American people overwhelmingly support this legislation.  But progressives are fighting like mad to stop these bills in every state legislature across the country. Joe Biden has denounced them as "sinful."

We don't allow nine year-olds to get tattoos, and in many states a parent cannot even allow a child to get a tattoo. But tattoos are insignificant compared to a decision that sterilizes them, mutilates them and condemns them to a life of health problems.

When it comes to subjecting children to such drastic actions, most Americans rightly say, "NO!"

Why are liberals so committed to forcing this insanity on our children?

Every conservative should speak up as loudly as possible, exposing the left's transgender extremism so that it is impossible for the public to remain ignorant about what is going on.

While we're on the topic, check out my latest column at CNSNews.com exposing the left's anti-family, anti-child agenda. Their insane policies are child abuse!
