Quote of the Day
"I once knew a farmer who strongly believed that the only way to get a donkey’s undivided attention was to smack it in the ears with a board. Last night, the political Left got hit with a political club, but some of them still aren’t paying attention.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi emerged from an emergency meeting of Hill Democrats to say, “We’re right on course,” a phrase once uttered by the captain of the Titanic. Leftwing MSNBC commentator Chris Matthews asserted that had Massachusetts Democrats run 17-term Congressman Ed Markey for the Senate instead of Coakley, Markey would have won by 10 points. Sure, Chris. The voters really wanted Markey – a career Washington politician who has never voted against a tax hike or bigger government.
All politicians in Washington, D.C., suffer from a certain amount of isolation, but liberal politicians suffer from it to a far greater degree. They are surrounded by a liberal bureaucracy, a liberal Washington, D.C., culture and adoring liberal reporters who overwhelmingly voted for them. When Nancy Pelosi leaves Washington, she flies over your home town and lands in … San Francisco, where there are plenty of people to tell her she needs to move even more to the Left.
A smack in the ears may work on a donkey, but it’s unlikely to work on the political Left. There is only one solution: Send them packing!"
