Robert Hurt: On the House Passage Of The No More Solyndras Act
WASHINGTON,
D.C. – Congressman Robert Hurt
(R-Virginia) today released the following statement after voting in favor of
legislation to ensure taxpayers are never again footing the bill for hundreds
of millions of dollars because of the President’s risky bets:
“The federal government should never leave American
taxpayers to foot the bill for hundreds of millions of dollars in losses
because of its own failures, especially at a time when its fiscal mismanagement
has led us to the fourth straight year of trillion dollar deficits and a
national debt that now tops $16 trillion. The Administration’s negligence in
assessing its risky loan to Solyndra amounted to an unacceptable loss of
taxpayer dollars at the expense of 5th District Virginians and
Americans across this country.
“The legislation that the House of Representatives
has passed today ensures that our nation’s taxpayers will no longer be on the
hook to pay for the Administration’s mismanagement of a program that led to
failures such as Solyndra. I am proud to cast my vote in support of this
legislation as we in the House add to our record of protecting the American
taxpayer, fighting for greater government accountability, and putting this
country back on a path to fiscal sustainability.”
