Were We Warned?

By Gary Bauer

A devastating report broke last night in the British media alleging that the State Department was warned at least 48 hours in advance of the Benghazi attack that claimed the life of four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

According to The Independent,
the State Department was also warned about possible trouble at the Cairo embassy, "but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and 'lockdown.'"

The attack likely had nothing to do with the anti-Muslim movie, but was carried out in retaliation for a drone strike against an Al Qaeda leader and timed for the anniversary of 9/11. Moreover, the report says the Benghazi consulate is missing papers with the names of Libyans who have been helping us since the fall of the Gaddafi regime, putting them at great risk.

Administration officials deny they had any reports of actionable intelligence. Members of Congress and the media should be demanding answers.

Meanwhile, protests are spreading throughout the Middle East. American restaurants in Lebanon were attacked. The U.S. embassy in Tunisia came under siege again today. The American and German embassies in Sudan have been breached.

While our elites insist this is about a movie, they couldn't be more wrong. It is about the violent nature of radical Islam, the desire of so many jihadists to spread their faith by the sword and their willingness to kill the infidel -- you, me, Christians, Jews and even other Muslims who do not believe as they do.
