Twitter, Garland and Tik Tok
By Gary Bauer
Twitter Votes & Trump's Truth
You've probably heard that Elon Musk asked Twitter users to vote on whether Donald Trump should be allowed back on the social media platform. Trump initially won the vote 52% to 48%. But I doubt we can rely on those totals. I'm sure the mail-in tweets are yet to be counted. (That was a joke.)
On a more serious note, Trump vowed to stick with his own special platform, Truth Social. But when Musk reinstated Trump's account, you could once again read the former president's tweets from January 6, 2021.
Trump repeatedly urged the crowd not to engage in violence, writing: "I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order –By respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!"
And this: "Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!"
Yet, when Twitter took down Trump's account on January 6th, it prevented those tweets from being seen. And then the left built the whole January 6th show trial around the absurd lie that Trump encouraged the mob and caused an "insurrection."
Garland's "Special" Counsel
Friday afternoon, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that he was appointing a special counsel to investigate and potentially prosecute former President Trump. Never mind that Donald Trump has been investigated nonstop for the past five years by the FBI, by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and by multiple congressional committees, including the January 6th Committee.
Within minutes of Garland's announcement, the media talking heads were universally praising the selection of Jack Smith. Fox News and other outlets noted that Smith is currently prosecuting war criminals in the Hague, as if to suggest that Donald Trump is a "war criminal."
The truth of the matter is that Smith is a political hack. In 2014, the House Oversight Committee concluded that he arranged a key meeting between infamous IRS official Lois Lerner and the Department of Justice that led to the targeting of conservative organizations during the Obama/Biden Administration.
When Smith ran the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section, he prosecuted then-Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, who was a rising star in the Republican Party, under federal bribery and corruption charges. A jury convicted McDonnell on 11 charges.
Two years later, a unanimous ruling from the Supreme Court overturned the convictions. But McDonnell's political future had been completely trashed.
Mission accomplished.
Dump Tik Tok Now!
This weekend, Senators Tom Cotton (R-VA) and Mark Warner (D-VA) were on Sunday talk shows. They both had the same message: Get your children off Tik Tok.
Warner actually said something that must have been very difficult for him. Speaking on Fox News Sunday, Warner said, "Well, I think Donald Trump was right. TikTok is an enormous threat."
You'll recall that Trump took steps to ban Tik Tok from the country. He was roundly attacked for the move. And, of course, Joe Biden repealed Trump's order.
But both Senators Cotton and Warner made it absolutely clear that Tik Tok is the largest surveillance program in history. Communist China is monitoring our children and collecting voluminous information about them.
"All of that data that your child is inputting and receiving is being stored somewhere in Beijing," Sen. Warner said.
Sen. Cotton warned, "It's not just the contents you upload to TikTok but all the data on your phone and other apps, all your personal information, even facial imagery, even where your eyes are looking on your phone."
Tik Tok is collecting everything on your child's phone. . . everything. Their contacts, their health records and financial information – all of it is being swept up by Chinese communist and stored in data centers controlled by the greatest enemy of the United States.
By the way, an article was published last week asking if Tik Tok, a communist Chinese app, tilted the midterm elections against the GOP. It notes that "TikTok's algorithm decides what each user will see next," and it warns that more and more young Americans are getting their news from Tik Tok, with 40% of them even preferring it as a search engine over Google.
You may not be able to do anything about your adult children, but you can take a stand as a parent and not allow your teenagers to get on Tik Tok!

Biden is the real threat to “democracy”

A Republican Majority Should Work for Americans
America has accumulated national debt totaling more than $31 trillion as a result of unprecedented reckless spending. This is not a one-party problem, it is a Washington problem. Too often, Republicans have joined with Democrats to pass massive spending bills. The most recent out-of-control spending sprees have contributed to record inflation and devastated family budgets.
Our border is wide open and is effectively under the control of the Mexican crime cartels that are making billions of dollars from human and drug trafficking. At the same time, millions of lethal doses of fentanyl are pouring across the border and killing 300 Americans per day.
The teacher union bosses forced schools to close during COVID, and the test scores now reveal the expect decline in academic achievement. Instead of working to correct the problem and refocusing on academic excellence, they are pushing racist agendas, woke ideology, and a harmful anti-America agenda.
For the past two years, Democrats have had total control of Washington. And on issue after issue, they have failed the American people, eroded our constitutional rights, and attacked our long-held traditional values. Republicans must seize the opportunity to defund a government run amok.
We need leaders in Washington who are dedicated to turning the page on the status quo and truly fighting the radical policies of the Left. Sadly, too many are more concerned about their next plum committee assignment or what they can do for the powerful special interests. Our nation is at a crossroad, and we must step up, meet the moment, and combat the Democrat America-last policies to get our country back on the right path.

Family Research Council's Tony Perkins' Statement on the Vote To Proceed to the 'Respect for Marriage' Act in the U.S. Senate
November 16, 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The U.S. Senate today voted to proceed to the so-called Respect for Marriage Act, clearing the 60-vote threshold for cloture by a vote of 62-37 and paving the way for a simple majority vote on final passage. Sens. Roy Blunt, Richard Burr, Shelley Capito, Susan Collins, Joni Ernst, Cynthia Lummis, Lisa Murkowski, Rob Portman, Mitt Romney, Dan Sullivan, Thom Tillis, and Todd Young voted for the bill. Senate Democrats needed 10 Republicans to cross the aisle and vote to redefine marriage. A previous version of the bill passed the House in July; if it passes both chambers and is enacted by President Biden, it will further exacerbate already-existing attacks on religious liberty (by creating a private right of action); legislatively cement anti-family policies harmful to children; make faith-based adoption and foster-care agencies a greater target for frivolous litigation, curtailing or ending their ability to help children find homes; threaten the tax-exempt status of adoption and foster care agencies (and other vitally needed non-profit organizations, whether religious or secular); and tacitly vilify millions of Americans who believe in natural marriage by labeling that belief as "sex discrimination," tantamount to racism.
Family Research Council president Tony Perkins released the following statement after the "Respect for Marriage" Act passed cloture in the Senate:
"The U.S. Senate is making a mockery of marriage as it tramples on a foundational right -- religious freedom of the individual. Whether by the Court or by the Congress, truth cannot be altered. Regardless of the action of Congress, there are millions of Americans who will remain steadfast in their love for their fellow human being, by remaining committed to these truths: that marriage is ordained by God and men and women are created in His image."

FAIR: National Exit Polling Shows that Securing the Border and Removing Illegal Aliens Are Top Immigration Priorities for Voters
(November 15, 2022, Washington, D.C.) — National exit polling of voters who participated in the midterm elections indicate that immigration was important to their vote. The polling also found that Congress has a clear mandate to secure our borders and ensure that immigration laws are enforced. By a wide margin, 62 percent to 32 percent, voters favor strong action to secure our border and remove illegal aliens over granting amnesty to illegal aliens or increasing the number of people we admit legally. Half of voters nationwide, said "securing the border and stopping illegal immigration" should be the top immigration issue for the 118th Congress to address. An additional 12 percent of voters said that "finding and removing illegal immigrants" is their top priority. Fewer than 9 percent said that "granting legal status to people who are in the country illegally," should be the first action, while 23 percent want more people to enter the country legally, not illegally. Americans' immigration priorities also represent a sharp rebuke of the Biden administration's policies. 55.3 percent of voters believe that the "administration's policies have encouraged illegal immigration," compared with just 11.2 percent who think the president's policies "have discouraged illegal immigration." In order to discourage continued mass illegal immigration, 67.7 percent support requiring asylum seekers to file their claims from outside the United States. "Republicans, who seem likely to control the House of Representatives in the 118th Congress have made explicit promises to the American public that they will use their majority to hold the Biden administration accountable for their deliberate and destructive border and immigration policies. Voters want the border brought under control, the wall built, and our nation's immigration laws enforced," noted Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). "The likely Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, pledged that a border security bill will be the first piece of legislation he brings to the floor next year, and he has a clear mandate to fulfill that pledge. Additionally, the House must use its power of the purse to ensure that this administration is not given a blank check to spend taxpayer money to undermine immigration laws, as they have for the past two years. When it comes to immigration and border enforcement, the Biden administration has betrayed the trust of the American people. It is now up to congressional Republicans to show they can earn that trust," concluded Stein. The national exit poll of 2,000 midterm voters was conducted by Zogby Analytics on behalf of FAIR. Among the key findings of the FAIR national exit poll:

Is the GOP dead?
Donald Trump is one man. He's not in charge of fundraising for the GOP. That's Mitch McConnell's job. That's Kevin McCarthy's job. That's the RNC's job.
Mitch McConnell abandoned Don Bolduc in New Hampshire. McConnell and his corporate allies did not lift a finger to help Blake Masters in Arizona. Let me tell you where they did go all out for candidates.
McConnell was "all in" for Joe O'Dea in Colorado -- the epitome of what the GOP establishment wants their candidates to be: totally non-ideological, bland and business as usual.
But O'Dea, Mitch's "perfect candidate," was utterly smashed on Election Day. His defeat was one of the first races called on Tuesday night. Why would grassroots activists jump out of bed to elect a milquetoast moderate like O'Dea when he's exactly the kind of "go-along-to-get-along" Chamber of Commerce type they're fighting against?
That is the Country Club Republicanism that has allowed America to be methodically pulled to the left, even when the GOP wins!
Our culture is melting down. Our values keep getting trashed. The debt keeps getting bigger. The border remains wide open. But they were "all in" for a big fat zero in Colorado.
That brings me to Alaska, where McConnell spent $9 million to ensure the reelection of Lisa Murkowski, the most unreliable Republican in the Senate, who is actively supporting Democrats and fighting Republicans in her state. But it's worse than that.
McConnell's ads in Alaska trashed a young, conservative pro-life woman. Democrats didn't have to lift a finger. McConnell did their dirty work for them.
Now Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy and Mitt Romney are going to tell us what we did wrong and how smart they are! Give me a break.
Why Are They Still Running?
GOP leaders in both the House and the Senate are running as hard as they can to secure their leadership posts. They obviously believe they deserve to be rewarded for the fine efforts they made and the results they delivered this year. (That was sarcasm.)
What do you think? Have so-called GOP "leaders" earned their positions? Should their "contracts" be renewed for another two years?
And what about accountability?
The Washington establishment wants to tell Donald Trump "You're fired!" over last week's fiasco, but Trump's not in charge. He's not running the party committees. Will any of the so-called "professionals" take any responsibility for what happened?
A party that shows such disdain for its own voters will not survive for long.
Heritage Foundation Announces New Innovation Prize for Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy
WASHINGTON—(11/14/2022) The Heritage Foundation announced today that it has selected the Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy as a recipient of the Heritage Innovation Prize. The organization will receive a $150,000 award in support of its efforts to advance parental rights and empower Virginia families to make their own education choices.
The institute helps lead the Virginia Education Opportunity Alliance, a vast coalition of groups assembled to promote parental rights in education. The coalition is focused on advancing parental rights in Virginia by creating statewide support for increased education choice, curriculum and funding transparency, and improved privacy for children within the commonwealth's education system. Thomas Jefferson Institute is focused on making substantial strides in these areas over the next three years.
Heritage President Kevin Roberts released a statement on the institute's award:
"As a lifelong educator, I can say from firsthand experience that nothing is more important to the long-term health of our republic than properly educating the next generation. However, so many schools across this country are failing to accomplish this task. What's happening in Virginia right now, though, gives me hope for the future. The Thomas Jefferson Institute and the rest of the VEOA are doing what must be done to ensure that Virginia's children are able to receive the education they deserve, and that their parents are empowered to make those choices for them. These decisions do not belong to bureaucrats—they belong to us as parents. We all must continue to fight for that simple truth."
Chris Braunlich, president of the Thomas Jefferson Institute, also released a statement:
"This Heritage Innovation Prize provides a unique opportunity for our coalition to jump-start the Education Choice movement in Virginia, where it has lain moribund for decades. While the public has long viewed Virginia's public school system as superior, the pandemic and the subsequent public school shutdowns tore the curtain away from what had been hidden for so long, exposing the fragility of the system. Quite literally, generations of children in underperforming school systems have had no choices for decades and, as a consequence, no future.
"The Heritage Innovation Prize provides us an opportunity to inform and educate current and future generations about what their opportunities could be—and to help them get it. The Virginia Education Opportunity Alliance is a coalition of more than 80 choice advocates who are saying 'the time has come. No more excuses.' We are incredibly grateful to the Heritage Foundation for its investment in our program, and the future of thousands of Virginia schoolchildren."
The Heritage Innovation Prize recognizes and provides substantive financial awards totaling up to $1 million annually to results-oriented nonprofits for projects involving research, litigation, education, outreach, or communications, particularly those focused on empowering parents in education, holding Big Tech accountable, countering the threat of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), securing America's borders and reducing crime, ensuring free and fair elections, reducing the growth of spending and inflation, and promoting life and family formation.
The winners of the first-ever Heritage Innovation Prize earlier this year were Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), Independent Women's Forum (IWF), and the State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF). Each organization received $100,000, sponsored by The Heritage Foundation's robust endowment fund for innovative conservative projects.

One Reporter Speaks The Truth
By Gary Bauer
Today News Africa correspondent Simon Ateba, one of the reporters at the White House yesterday, wrote a scathing column about the "rigged" press conference. Just consider these excerpts:
"Many things at the White House are rigged, especially press briefings or press conferences. Questions are often sent in advance by the same set of reporters who get called on all the time. . . For the people watching at home, it all appears to be normal. . . In reality, it's a show, a sham, the appearance of normality. . .
"When I first arrived in the United States, having watched CNN for years, I came to believe that the racists and the bad guys in the United States were the Republicans. . . But in the Biden White House, as I have struggled . . . to be treated with the same dignity as others, I came to realize that the Republicans were not the racists and the horrible, awful people I was told they were."
