Quote of the Day

Arson Was A Real “Hate Crime”

"The Wasilla Bible Church was set on fire Friday night and sustained $1 million in damages. The Associated Press reports that federal officials confirmed yesterday that “an accelerant was poured at several locations around the church, including entrances.” What makes this crime even more horrific was that a women’s group, with small children, was meeting inside the church when the blaze was set. Fortunately, they were saved by the fire alarm.

Wasilla Bible Church was notable for being the home church of Sarah Palin. Governor Palin visited the church on Saturday and apologized to the pastor “if there’s anything that I’ve done to draw negative attention to the church.” Her spokesman said, “Whatever the motives of the arsonist, the governor has faith in the scriptural passage that what was intended for evil will in some way be used for good.” The church had also promoted a “Love Won Out” conference by Focus on the Family, which addresses homosexuality “with uncompromised faith and in compassion and grace.”

Can you image the coverage if Barack Obama or Joe Biden’s church, or a homosexual night club for that matter, had been set on fire? There would be candlelight vigils. There would be 24/7 “commentary” on the nightly news about “hate radio” and “rightwing religious bigotry.” The arson is just one more example of a church being attacked in the aftermath of the passage of Proposition 8 in California, but no one in Big Media is willing to make that connection."
