In an OpEd published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch last weekend, former National Academy of Sciences uranium mining study member Dr. Corby Anderson assured Virginians that uranium is mined safely with minimal environmental impacts around the world and can be done just as safely in Virginia.

After years of extensive study and public debate, the fate of Virginia's moratorium on uranium mining will be decided in the next few months. In early December, Governor McDonnell's Uranium Working Group will release draft regulations for the industry, opening the door for the General Assembly to lift the moratorium as early as January 2013.

Now is the time to let your voice be heard! More than 1,000 new jobs, 75 years of clean nuclear energy for Virginia and American energy independence are on the line. It's time to lift Virginia's moratorium on uranium mining and unleash Virginia's full economic and energy potential!
